Nonprofit CaringBridge Celebrates Togetherness in Year-End Giving Campaign

Eagan, Minn. (Nov. 30, 2012) —

In 2012, 45 million people turned to CaringBridge, the caring social network, when they needed a place to feel the love and support of their community. CaringBridge services simplify communication and encourage love, hope and care during any type of health journey.

Every day, courageous individuals with powerful stories connect and care for each other through CaringBridge. Six-year-old Madeline is one of those courageous individuals. In 2010, when she was diagnosed with cancer, a friend started a CaringBridge patient website so her family could share Madeline’s journey.

Her mom Rachelle was hesitant about journaling at first, but said, “After that first post, I realized the gift our friend had given me.”

As Madeline continues her brave fight, their CaringBridge site is a space where they can openly share their story and emotions. Through their site they receive love and encouragement. Reading the messages of support motivates and lifts their spirits.

“I’ve read and re-read the messages at the most peculiar times, and I still do, to provide me strength, support and sanity,” said Rachelle.

While Madeline continues to receive treatments, she is an active little girl who spends her time riding bikes and creating art projects. CaringBridge allows her parents to share her story of hope.

As a nonprofit, CaringBridge relies on the generosity of donors. Donations allow anyone facing a health journey to use CaringBridge to create vital, valuable communities of support.

“We decided to celebrate ‘Together’ as the theme for our year-end campaign because we’re all about bringing people together when caring matters most,” said Sona Mehring, CaringBridge Founder and CEO. “As 2013 approaches, there is more work to be done. It is important that even more families are given a place to share their stories and bring their communities together.”
