CaringBridge named Health Care Hero by Twin Cities Business

Eagan, Minn. (May. 19, 2010) —

Minnesota-based nonprofit CaringBridge is a 2010 Twin Cities Business Health Care Hero. According to Twin Cities Business, the Health Care Heroes program recognizes contributions to the enhancement of the value and quality of health care in Minnesota. CaringBridge won the Community Outreach category for its leadership in focusing on solving a particular health care issue . connecting patients with their family and friends to share information, love and support during a serious health event, care and recovery.

"It's an honor to be recognized as an important part of health care in our community," said Sona Mehring, founder and executive director of CaringBridge. "At CaringBridge we believe in the healing power of the human spirit. There are about 10,000 new people experiencing a serious health event each day, but only 200 know about CaringBridge. We are committed to increasing our outreach to ensure all families know CaringBridge is available to them - for free - during their time of need."

Since its inception in 1997, more than 200,000 families have created a CaringBridge website for hope, healing and connection. Through CaringBridge, families can easily update those who care with one accurate message. Family and friends offer support by visiting the site to read journal entries, view photos and leave messages of love and support.
