Eagan, Minn. (Nov. 30, 2011) —
CaringBridge, a nonprofit providing personal websites that connect family and friends during a health challenge, is asking for donations in order to continue providing families a place to receive love, hope and compassion.
Through a CaringBridge site, families can easily update those who care allowing them to focus their energies on the person who requires healing. Family and friends stay involved by reading journal entries, viewing photos and leaving messages of love and support in the guestbook.
Because of CaringBridge supporters, the Uselding family was able to keep family and friends updated when Tara, one of their 5-year-old identical triplets, was diagnosed with a fast-growing childhood cancer.
When Tara’s mom, Shawna, urgently needed to form a community of support, she was able to count on CaringBridge to provide a private and personal space where she could share Tara’s story and update family and friends online.
The Uselding family is just one of thousands each year who find CaringBridge to be a source of comfort. Many resonate with Shawna, in saying, “The guestbook messages would seriously get me through bad days. It’s been humbling to see how many people follow her and care about her.”
Many families and friends whose loved ones benefit from CaringBridge contribute to CaringBridge through donations. “The donations in honor of Tara were evidence that CaringBridge is not only meaningful to me, but also to people who care about Tara,” said Shawna. “They understand that to keep CaringBridge available to all families, people need to help.”
“CaringBridge donors have brightened the lives of so many by allowing them to create a community of support during a health journey,” said Sona Mehring, CaringBridge founder and CEO.
Since CaringBridge was founded in 1997, more than 295,000 CaringBridge sites have been created. Each day over half-a-million people connect through CaringBridge to give their support to loved ones.
CaringBridge is a nonprofit offering many ways for people to care for each other during any type of health event. Its mission is to amplify the love, hope and compassion in the world, making each health journey easier. For more information, visit www.CaringBridge.org.
