Thursday, December 3, 2009 8:52 PM CST Wow....I never get around to updating this site anymore since I update on Facebook.
Nicholas is doing great and loving 3rd grade!! Nicholas has been playing lots of sports this past year. Spring was baseball...he swam on a swim team over the summer...he just finished soccer and is about to start up with basketball. He is keeping me running....between his and the girls sports!!!! Oh and can't forget Cub Scouts....he is now a Bear!!
Nicholas went to Duke in September to see Nichol and his doctors and he is doing TERRIFIC!!! He is just down to 6 month check ups, urine and bloodwork. The plan is after this next visit he will go to every year!! YEA!!! In Feb. 2010 he will be 5 years off treatment....can't believe how fast it has gone by!
We just kicked off our 5th annual Toy Drive benefitting Duke, UNC and our local hospital. It is slow going right now so hopefully it will pick up soon. In the past our neighborhood has been very generous. We would fill our van with toys, stuffed animals, games, blankets and gift cards and deliver it to the hospitals. HOPEFULLY we will once again be able to do that this year. I know from experience the joy it brings to those kids that have to be in the hospital around or on Christmas...Nicholas was released day before Christmas in 2003. My kids really enjoy gathering the toys and making a day of delivering them and stopping at a place on the way home that has TONS of Christmas lights!! I love how it teaches them to GIVE!!
Well other than that not much is going on....just busy getting the house decorated...chasing kids to their activities and enjoying everyday of NED!!!
Please continue to pray for those still fighting....and for those that have beaten it that they will continue to remain NED!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2010!!!! Heather
