We have been cancer free for only 2 years and 9 months so we still have a long way to go. We do know two other children that have face neuroblastoma and both are doing well. Hi! I found your site through another I check on regularly...what an adorable cub you are!!! My potty training tip....as we are just finishing with a 3 1/2 year old who just refused and didn't care to do it at all tyvm...is money...he loves to have money all his own...he gets a penny when he pees and a quarter when he poops...though we had to wwait til he'd decided he was ready....we are giving it another week and then will buy the originally promised big boy bike (with training wheels) when we have our potty trained celebration...when that happens he will no longer get the quarters...at least that's the plan...lol...Good luck and God blesss

I have been praying for you. I lost 3 babies so far in 2 pregnancies and I know the pain of loss. It makes you more full of compassion for suffering... I sent your prayer request thru a "fax-ministry" my dad started when he was still with us... it goes all over the world where there is a Missionary or a church with a fax... people all over starts praying for that request until we send a fax back with updates... We were sent the link to your webpage by a friend (Angel Grubaugh). My husband and I know what it's like to have a sick child. We had our first child, Emily, on January 1, 2005. On April 1, 2005 she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. After struggling for several months she went to be with Jesus on November 10, 2005. We miss her very much but know she has been healed and has a new heart. We also know we shall see her again some sweet day over there.

We want you to know we are praying for you and your precious angel. We know what prayer can do. If it had not been for so many around the world praying for us and our precious angel girl, Emily, we would not have made it. Emily would not have made it as far as she did either without all those prayers.

The Pickle Jar

The pickle jar as far back as I can remember sat on the floor beside the dresser in my parents' bedroom. When he got ready for bed, Dad would empty his pockets and toss his coins into the jar.
As a small boy I was always fascinated at the sounds the coins made as they were dropped into the jar. They landed with a merry jingle when the jar was almost empty. Then the tones gradually muted to a dull thud as the jar was filled.
I used to squat on the floor in front of the jar and admire the copper and silver circles that glinted like a pirate's treasure when the sun poured through the bedroom window. When the jar was filled, Dad would sit at the kitchen table and roll the coins before taking them to the bank.
Taking the coins to the bank was always a big production. Stacked neatly in a small cardboard box, the coins were placed between Dad and me on the seat of his old truck.
Each and every time, as we drove to the bank, Dad would look at me hopefully. "Those coins are going to keep you out of the textile mill, son. You're going to do better than me. This old mill town's not going to hold you back."
Also, each and every time, as he slid the box of rolled coins across the counter at the bank toward the cashier, he would grin proudly "These are for my son's college fund. He'll never work at the mill all his life like me."
We would always celebrate each deposit by stopping for an ice cream cone. I always got chocolate. Dad always got vanilla. When the clerk at the ice cream parlor handed Dad his change, he would show me the few coins nestled in his palm. "When we get home, we'll start filling the jar again." He always let me drop the first coins into the empty jar. As they rattled around with a brief, happy jingle, we grinned at each other. "You'll get to college on pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters," he said. "But you'll get there. I'll see to that."
The years passed, and I finished college and took a job in another town. Once, while visiting my parents, I used the phone in their bedroom, and noticed that the pickle jar was gone. It had served its purpose and had been removed.
A lump rose in my throat as I stared at the spot beside the dresser where the jar had always stood. My dad was a man of few words, and never lectured me on the values of determination, perseverance, and faith.
The pickle jar had taught me all these virtues far more eloquently than the most flowery of words could have done. When I married, I told my wife Susan about the significant part the lowly pickle jar had played in my life as a boy. In my mind, it defined, more than anything else, how much my dad had loved me.
No matter how rough things got at home, Dad continued to doggedly drop his coins into the jar. Even the summer when Dad got laid off from the mill, and Mama had to serve dried beans several times a week, not a single dime was taken from the jar.
To the contrary, as Dad looked across the table at me, pouring catsup over my beans to make them more palatable, he became more determined than ever to make a way out for me. "When you finish college, Son," he told me, his eyes glistening, "You'll never have to eat beans again - unless you want to."
The first Christmas after our daughter Jessica was born, we spent the holiday with my parents. After dinner, Mom and Dad sat next to each other on the sofa, taking turns cuddling their first grandchild. Jessica began to whimper softly, and Susan took her from Dad's arms.
"She probably needs to be changed," she said, carrying the baby into my parents' bedroom to diaper her. When Susan came back into the living room, there was a strange mist in her eyes.
She handed Jessica back to Dad before taking my hand and leading me into the room. "Look," she said softly, her eyes directing me to a spot on the floor beside the dresser. To my amazement, there, as if it had never been removed, stood the old pickle jar, the bottom already covered with coins. I walked over to the pickle jar, dug down into my pocket, and pulled out a fistful of coins. With a gamut of emotions choking me, I dropped the coins into the jar. I looked up and saw that Dad, carrying Jessica, had slipped quietly into the room. Our eyes locked, and I knew he was feeling the same emotions I felt. Neither one of us could speak.
This truly touched my heart. I know it has yours as well. Sometimes we are so busy adding up our troubles that we forget to count our blessings.
Never underestimate the power of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life, for better or for worse.
God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. Look for God in others.

Subject: The Smell of Rain! (tissue alert)

<A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the doctor
walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. Still groggy from
surgery, her husband David held her hand as they braced themselves for the
latest news.
That afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced Diana,
only 24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the
couple's new daughter, Danae Lu Blessing. At 12 inches long and
weighing
only one pound and nine ounces, they already knew she was perilously
premature. Still, the doctor's soft words dropped like bombs. "I don't
think she's
going to make it'" he said, as kindly as he could. '"There's only a
10-percent
chance she will live through the night, and even then, if by some slim
chance
she
does make it, her future could be a very cruel one."

Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctor described the
devastating problems Danae would likely face if she survived. She would
never walk; she would never talk; she would probably be blind; she would
certainly be prone to other catastrophic conditions from cerebral palsy to
complete mental retardation; and on and on. "No! No!" was all Diana could
say.
She and David, with their 5-year-old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day
they would have a daughter to become a family of four. Now, within a matter
of hours, that dream was slipping away.
Through the dark hours of morning as Danae held onto life by the thinnest
thread, Diana slipped in and out of drugged sleep, growing more and
more
determined that their tiny daughter would live-and live to be a
healthy,
happy
young girl. But David, fully awake and listening to additional dire
details
of their
daughter's chances of ever leaving the hospital alive, much less
healthy,
knew he
must confront his wife with the inevitable.

David walked in and said that we needed to talk about making funeral
arrangements, Diana remembers "I felt so bad for him because he was
doing
everything, trying to include me in what was going on, but I just
wouldn't
listen, I
couldn't listen." I said, "No, that is not going to happen, no way! I
don't
care what
the doctors say. Danae is not going to die! One day she will be just
fine,
and
she will be coming home with us!"

As if willed to live by Diana's determination, Danae clung to life hour
after hour, with the help of every medical machine and marvel her miniature
body could endure But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for
David and Diana. Because Danae's underdeveloped nervous system was
essentially raw, the lightest kiss or caress only intensified her
discomfort-so they couldn't even cradle their tiny baby girl against their
chests to offer the strength of their love. All they could do, as Danae
struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light in the tangle of tubes and
wires, was to pray that God would stay close to their precious little girl.
There was never a moment when Danae suddenly grew stronger. But as
the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an
ounce
of
strength there. At last, when Danae turned two months old, her parents
were
able to hold her in their arms for the very first time. And two months
later-though
doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of
surviving,
much
less living any kind of normal life were next to zero, Danae went home from
the hospital, just as her mother had predicted.
Today, five years later, Danae is a petite but feisty young girl with
glittering gray
eyes and an unquenchable zest for life. She shows no signs, whatsoever,
of
any
mental or physical impairments. Simply, she is everything a little
girl can
be and
more-but that happy ending is far from the end of her story.

One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in Irving,
Texas, Danae was sitting in her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local
ballpark where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing. As always,
Danae was chattering nonstop with her mother and several other adults
sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent. Hugging her arms across her
chest, Danae asked, "Do you smell that?" Smelling the air and detecting the
approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, "Yes, it smells like rain." Danae
closed her eyes and again asked, "Do you smell that?" Once again, her
mother replied, "Yes, I think we're about to get wet, it smells like rain."
Still caught in the moment, Danae shook her head, patted her thin shoulders
with her small hands and loudly announced, "No, it smells like Him. It
smells like God when you lay your head on His chest." Tears blurred Diana's
eyes as Danae then happily hopped down to play with the other children.

Hi!! I just completeed the wall paper task. lol. What I did was I made my own solution. It is straight vinegar and hot water. Use about 3/4 ths vinegar, 1/4th water. The liquid is messy but wont hurt you. First you "score" the paper. I took the edge of the metal scraper that I was using and made x marks. Then you spray the hot solution all over the area you are working on. Its drippy so use a towel for the floor. Let it set for only 15 min. This step is important because any longer and the paper starts to dry any sooner and its too wet. It will look like wet corn flakes if its peeled too soon and is too wet. You want to try to get both layers off at one time and not fracture the sheet rock. By two layers, I mean you may find the "top" layer is the outer paper. The inside is all glue. If you come across that just re-spray and wait 15 min again and try to peel. It should come right up. Its messy and time consuming, but when its done it looks great! I will prob. OH!! P/S if the solution cools, you can heat it in the microwave. I had the liquid in a spray bottle and just took the top off. Its ok to heat the vinegar and water. Not too hot but as if you were going to take a bath in it. Hot but not boiling. Good luck.......

Hi Abby!! Thank you so much for the big turtle. It came at the perfect time. My brother just took a pink turtle bead from my bead box and I was crying to my mommy, when my mommy turned to computer around and showed me my own big flowery turtle. My brother, Dylan, came to look at my turtle and put the turtle bead on the table and I got it back. HAHAHAHA!!! So the moral of the story is that your turtle brought peace to my house (when Dylan went to get his bead back my mommy give him a brown one and he was happy). My mommy is so upset that she can not put pictures on the front of my website and when she signs guestbooks. We can not do anything exciting:(

I hope that you get to go on vacation. Are you coming to Florida by any chance? Tell your mommy happy birthday for me. My mommy's birthday is July 10th, she will be a big 30!! Don't tell anyone I told you that, she is in denial.

I love that picture of you in the box. Boxes are the best part of presents. My sister Alexa and I have so much fun with them. I like the big ones the best, coz I get to crawl inside. One time, when I was a little baby, I crawled inside one and took a nap in there! It was nice and peaceful.

It was great to see another entry and I enjoyed hearing all about your night, and details on Abbey and what she won, etc.! I am also glad there will be regular updates! Have you ever tried the diapers out now that are called something like feel and learn...anyway they somehow make them feel wet so they know when to go ..but not sure on that. She may also just be a bit behind because of her illness when she was younger. I have seen other young kids with the same issue. Anyway i am glad you had fun..lol

My daughter too, suffered with cancer, with many set backs and problems along the way. Thanks to our Lords healing, she has been in remission for 2 years.I know what each one of you are dealing with and pray for healing, as well. Hello!!! Guess what??? Yesterday was my birthday! For once in many years, it did not rain! My friend came over today and we went to visit a horse farm near here. It was a lovely day again, and we saw all the beautiful horses, and some young ones too. I gave them all carrots and kissed their soft noses. OH, how I LOVE horses!!! There were also chickens, guinea foul, cows, dogs and cats.

How nice to see the tulip border! Oh SPRING is coming!!!! I love it! And, tulips are my FAVORITE Spring flower. :) We have a nature center about an hour from here that has such a pretty tulip bed...I try to visit it every Spring. I wish I had a knack for plants...unfortunately, I don't! LOL So, no flowers here at my place...I go out to enjoy them. :) Well, just wanted to stop in and let you know you were on my mind.

Never too late to have flowers- after all, ours here in Mansfield are just now blooming. Just think of them as your Ohio flowers and you can enjoy yours with us!! I do visit Abby often but, you're right, sometimes just don't have time to sign. I have an 18 month old Doberman, who if I;m on the computer and ignoring her, has to keep bringing me things- my clothes, her leash, the pot mitts- you name it, it comes to me!!! Sometimes I feel like I have a toddler! Anyway, wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. I finally got to put my "man-man" away for Spring- YEAH! Have a great week.
