Cindy's page :-)
Welcome to Cindy's Page. We are so grateful for this wonderful site to let people see Cindy's progress after her spinal fusion. Thank you for all our your thoughts and prayers! Here is a picture of me at graduation when I got a standing ovation. Look inside for more pictures and links to other places...

Journal
Sunday, August 17, 2008 0:02 AM CDT My mind can barely fathom that it will be two years tomorrow since I hugged Cindy goodbye. There are times when it seems like 10 years, and moments later it will seem like it was just a moment ago. We celebrate the wonderful opportunities we shared with this extraordinary young lady, forever blessed to be her family. Without ever making a demand on us she challenged us to become better people, more devoted Christians, better listeners. Doug and I often joke, but actually quite seriously, that we often wonder who was the parent and who was the child, not that we did so poorly, but because she excelled at quietly teaching and shaping our lives.
I often hear so much discussion about what people with special needs miss out on, but Cindy never felt cheated, she never regretted a single challenge that she faced. Instead, she looked at everything that life threw at her as an opportunity, a chance to learn something new or move in a different direction. Heaven pity the person who took pity on her! I have a good friend in Calgary who lives by the motto, and I paraphrase, "Many things will happen in life that you have no control over. You do, however, have a choice. It can make you bitter, or it can make you better, and the choice is yours, and yours alone." Cindy always chose, even rejoiced, in the opportunity to be better.
Even as tears of joy stream down my face for the way she shaped my life and touched so many others, I cannot help but want to thank so many of you who have joined us on this journey. I hope and pray as you move through your day that you will say a silent prayer of thanks for the blessings in your life. We are not promised tomorrow, but we can rejoice today. Doug, Nichole, and I will try to do just that as we celebrate the 19 years Cindy spent on this earth.
Hugs to you all... Valerie
Once again, I well include Terri Lyons' poem she wrote for Cindy...
Cindy's In Heaven
Go rest now Cindy, our precious one, Your life in eternity has just begun. Now you can walk, your legs are brand new. All of heaven is now in your view.
I can see you dancing and running along. I hear you singing heaven's beautiful song. The light in your eyes is forever my guide, Until once again I'm by your side.
Look all around, it's all in your sight, There will never be another dark night. Flowers and jewels, the street of pure gold, And all of the things that we've been told.
I can just imagine the smile on your face As you walk all around in that beautiful place. Greeting your brothers as you scurry along, While singing God's praises with beauty and song.
This is so very hard, but it will all be okay. It isn't goodbye, for we'll see you one day. We love you and miss you and at times it will be tough, But as with all things, God's grace will be enough.
You're forever friend, Terry
