Wednesday, July 6, 2005 9:26 PM CDT Hello all! Sorry for such a long time between updates. Things have been busy around here!
To start off, Derek had a clinic visit today. He is pushing 6 months off treatment and everything is looking good. I haven't gotten his counts yet from today, but they have been starting to come up. He is feeling stronger every day. He was having some leg problems a few months ago that had me worried, but they seem to be getting better. The closer he gets to completing his first year off treatment the better the prognosis is. Let's pray everything continues to go well for him!
Derek had his preschool graduation in May. It was so cute to see all of the kids together. He truly enjoyed his time with Ms. Mary. This summer he went to summer school for kindergarten. It was a four week school and if they went the entire time without missing any days they would earn $100! He was suppose to miss a day due to clinic and then another day because of a family trip. Well, the time came for clinic and we got that appointment changed and he decided to stay home with grandma and go to school so he made his $100! He was pretty excited. The summer school was a challenge in the beginning, but he finally adapted and I think it will help him a lot this fall for when he does start kindergarten. At least now he is familiar with the routine.
The summer has been busy for the family. The boys both are playing in basketball leagues, running track, football camp. We are going to New Orleans for the AAU National Track meet. The boys both made it in the Pentathlon and Trevor in the high jump and then we are off to San Diego in August for an Adidias Basketball camp that Trevor was invited to attend. So, we are making family trips out of both of these. We will drive to New Orleans and fly to San Diego. The boys are looking forward to those trips. When we get back from San Diego Zach starts two-a-day football practices, so he has something to look forward to!!
Derek finished up his tee-ball season a week ago. He really had fun with it. It was able to hold his attention more this year than last. At least he wasn't always playing in the dirt!
Well, that is a quick update for now. I will try and add some new pictures soon. Derek has grown so much and has changed a lot. Thanks for checking in on us and I will try and update a little more often! The older these boys get the busier we all seem to be getting!
Love, Kim
