Katherine & Will with Joe Mauer at Twins Fest on January 26, 2008.
"Will Weekend" was a tremendous success, raising over $17,500! The benefit was held on September 13-14, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Donations are still being accepted at any Wells Fargo Bank, c/o Will Canan Family Trust.
Will's Story
Will was originally diagnosed in March, 2004 with medulloblastoma. On April 17, 2006, he relapsed for the first time. He had chemo from September 2006 through February 2007. On December 11, 2007, he relapsed a second time. He was treated with Gamma Knife and then for the first 6 months of 2008, he had four I3F8 treatments at Memorical Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSCC) in New York City.
Will has had clean MRI's in March and July 2008!
His 10/28/08 MRI was also clear! No evidence of any cancer!
Will and Jack's segment on Animal Planet will be repeated on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 6pm CST. It did air at 7pm & 10pm on Nov. 8th and it is definitely worth watching! (I am not biased of course.)
Journal
Friday, January 2, 2009 4:20 PM CST Greetings from Wisconsin! We arrived yesterday afternoon around 4pm. We traveled in and out of some snow but overall, the roads weren't too bad. We hope the weather cooperates for us on our return trip on Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa Canan win the award for the "weather patrol." They were about 90 minutes ahead of us and called us four times to give us road reports and updates. Sometimes I think you view the severity of the weather a little differently when you're a little more senior in life if you know what I mean!):
We had a delicious meal last night at Steve and Patti's. Then we exchanged gifts; the kids drew names but the adults did the "greed" game, where you draw a number and you can either open a gift or steal another person's gift. It was fun. After that, all of us headed back to the hotel to call it a night. We were especially tired after staying up until around 12:30am to ring in 2009.
The hotel has a nice indoor water park/swimming pool and the kids have been having a ball in it. They swam yesterday afternoon and spent time swimming this morning too. Tom and I got some exercise in this morning too. I'm trying to establish a more consistent routine of exercising in this new year. So far, I'm off to a good start considering that this is only the second day of the year):
The kids just came in from sledding. Aunt Patti pulled about three of them on sleds and tubes behind a four wheeler. While it's very cold today, the kids had a blast.
Tonight we're having a lasagne dinner. I also made a second carrot cake this afternoon because the first one I brought yesterday is gone! Maybe I need to consider patenting my Mom's recipe.
I'll update more tomorrow. Have a good evening dear friends and family.
