Journal
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 12:44 AM CDT Today marks the eighth anniversary of one of the most devastating moments in our lives. On May 19, 2001, our beloved daughter Tiffany was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukemia at age 14. Tiffany fought gracefully, courageously, and without complaint for seven months, never giving up, until this horrible disease took her life on December 13, 2001, shortly after her 15th birthday.
Words cannot express how much Tiff is loved and missed. Although she now walks with her Lord and Savior in heaven, her presence is felt in our hearts each and every day.
To honor Tiffany, her family established Tiffany's Angel Foundation in her memory. Our mission is to assist children with cancer and their families; bring community awareness to childhood cancer; and support, serve and advocate for children with cancer and their families. Donations are always welcome and appreciated. Some donations from the Foundation help to offset expenses associated with Tiffany's Retreat.
Tiffany's Retreat was started by some family and church friends, the Schillings, whose desire was to provide a quiet, peaceful place for families coping with cancer to get away from the hassles of home, chores and hospitals. They purchased a beautiful home on the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in Cross Lake, Minnesota, and named it "Tiffany's Retreat," in memory of Tiffany and the inspiration she was to us all.
Unfortunately, Tiffany's Retreat is in jeopardy of closing. Due to the current state of the economy, the owners may be forced to sell. We don't want to see this happen. The retreat has been a haven for many families to spend quality time together during a very stressful and difficult period. There is no charge to the families who stay at the retreat.
We would welcome any ideas on how to keep Tiffany's Retreat open or possible individuals, organizations or investors who might want to be involved in such a rewarding, meaningful opportunity.

Please contact Nancy Ferguson, Tiffany's mother, at willownancy@gmail.com if you can help or offer any suggestions. Let's keep Tiffany's legacy alive.
We love you, Tiff, and will never forget!
