Journal

Saturday, December 27, 2008 10:48 PM CST

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to the new year. I know we are looking forward to the new year. 2008 was not very good to our family and we look forward to new beginnings.

We spent Christmas eve with my mom and and family and Christmas day with MK's family. This was our normal routine that we have done for many years. There were some hard moments, but on the most part we had a good holiday.

As we knew it woud be, Christmas was difficult not having Mary kay with us. We talked alot about things she liked and did and tried to keep things as normal as possible. We had a few emotional moments.

We visit MK's grave every Sunday and did on Christmas too. The snow is getting pretty deep in there so it is nice to have 4 wheel drive. Maddie went out there on Friday and shoveled a path from the tire tracks to the grave and cleared some snow around it. We have decorated some, but need the tombstone in the spring to make it look nice.

It has now been 10 weeks today since Mary Kay has passed. We have gone through 2 major Holidays and soon the new year with out her. This has been a difficult time, but we contine to talk about the good things and stories about MK as a family and make it part of our life.

The kids had a good holiday overall and are enjoying the time off of school. We are getting some good time together getting some routines down. We are trying to keep as busy as we and it does help keep our minds off of things.

We talk about things with MK all the time. Something she would have done or said in certain situations. I feel this is healthy for us and keeps the good memories alive. The sadness is hard to take some days so having good memories is very important to the kids and I.

We are still doing pretty good overall. We have grown closer as a family and need to continue doing so. We are trying to do a few new things in addition to things we have always done as a family.

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! May the spirit of Mary Kay live in all of you and God Bless!
