Marisa's Miracle Updates
******************************************************************************* Sometimes goodness shines so bright that it can show us just how full our lives are.... and just how much we have to be grateful for. **************************************************** My Medical History I was born with a fata l liver disease called Biliary Atresia. At 2 1/2 months of age I had surgery, the kasai procedure, to help prolong my life. The surgery worked for 11 years. At age 11 my spleen was removed and my body went into liver failure and I was put on the liver transplant list. On May 1 I received my life saving liver transplant. I live my life as normal as possible. There are always meds and doctors but you just deal with it and continue on with life.

Monday, August 18, 2008 9:58 AM CDT I'm back! I have to say, having one wisdom tooth out was the worst medical type experience I've ever had. Before he started I had this gut feeling that I needed to leave, just walk out...things weren't right. My mistake, I did not. :( They did not go over my medication list with me. They did not ask me what my blood sugar was that morning. Most of all, he was basically refusing to put me to sleep becuase HE did not check things out with transplant. I made the mistake of not leaving and going some where else. :( I was awake for the entire thing and only novacaine was used. He of course told me, "You won't feel anything. It won't hurt." I am not THAT stupid! I don not believe doctors when they tell me that or nurses becuase they DO NOT know that for a fact. Guess what, it hurt a lot becuase the tooth was laying right on a nerve! I went back for the follow up on Friday but will never step foot in that office again...he thinks I'm going to see him in 2 weeks again! NOPE! If I can help it I will never let anyone I know go back there again. I am also writing him a letter to let him know how aweful it was and how badly the office was in general...don't think they have ever heard of HIPPA! Thank Goodness it is over and if I ever need oral surgery again I will go back to the first surgeon I had who was EXCELLENT!
Have more news to share soon! Hope everyone enjoys the end of their summer!
