hi! my name is amanda-most call me "manda" or "mandy" about 5 years ago (march 27th to be exact) i was diagnoised with ulcerative colitis a disease that pretty much coats my intestines and colon with ulcers (sounds like fun right?). i was also diagnoised with raynaud's disease-which effects my circulatioin, and depression-which ive treated. i was put on large amounts of predisone, a steroid, and pentasa. during my freshman and sophomore year of high school i spent a lot of time at fairview university children's hospital and out of school. i was in remission for about a year when my colitis decided to flare up in the summer of 2004. now im in college and still dealing with my colitis. ive switched meds several times and im still trying to find SOMETHING to help with my being severely anemic. I decided to share my story due to one of my best friend's amy* inspired me to "never give up" and to always inform others, while she battled with osteosaracoma until she earned her angel wings on 11/29/2004. i will try to update as much as possible. please sign my guestbook! i'd love to hear from YOU!!!

ive had this song stuck in my head for weeks!
~John Mayer: Daughters~
I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
But she's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change
And I've done all I can
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me

Fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Oh, you see that skin?
It's the same she's been standing in
Since the day she saw him walking away
Now she's left
Cleaning up the mess he made

So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

Boys, you can break
You'll find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong
And boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without the warmth from
A womans good, good heart

On behalf of every man
Looking out for every girl
You are the god and the weight of her world

So fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

wow i am horrible! sorry for the extreme lack of updating! things here are going beyond amazing! my colitis has been doing great! no problems in several months. i was in the hospital for a blood transfusion the day after easter but ever since then ive been doing GREAT!

eric and i are as busy as ever! things seem to just never stop-eric's band holy cow they're recording and playing shows and are going strong. he's busy with work and he did a couple summer classes...our newest purchase was a motorcycle which we bought the other day and is now eric's "new love".

im keeping myself busy as well. i switched jobs again-imagine that. im a rehabilitation aid at a speech, physical and occupational therapy clinic here in st cloud-I LOVE IT. i seriously wish i found this place a long time ago. im getting ready for school to start again...my major is now special ed. and i have my work cut out for me-but thats what i want.

we've made plans to buy a house. eric will be finishing his criminal justice degree this fall and will be joining an area city police dept. we've decided to put off moving out to OR for a couple of years. i think its whats best for us now.

again i apologize for not updating sooner-i will try super hard to do it more often

thanks for checking in!

amanda
