Laura Ann Welcome to Laura's very own web page. We created this page to keep everyone who loves Laura updated.
Laura was born (9/14/96) with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and was diagnosed at her 3 month well baby visit.
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is a relatively common genetic disorder characterized by low levels of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin, a protein found in the blood. Alpha-1 affects approximately 1 in 3000 people and is frequently misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed. Only 10% of those affected will have pediatric liver disease.
She was transplanted 9/1/2006 that liver clotted and failed. Retransplanted 9/19/2006 and doing better.
Journal
Friday, November 9, 2007 10:26 AM CST Laura's been doing very well. She's been feeling good and going to school. She does get a little tired and needs plenty of sleep but overall is doing well.
Our whole faimly got to go on Laura's Disney World trip and Disney Cruise last month thanks to the Children's Wish Foundation granting Laura's wish. We had a wonderful time and best of all Laura got to dine at Cinderella's Table with all the Disney Princesses and get a Makeover at the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. On the cruise she got swim with dolphins in Nassau. She loved it.
I have updated the pictures on her site here.
Laura was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz on Halloween and was in the top 5 for the costume contest at school. I'll try and get a photo of that on. I wish I could put more than three on here.
Labs are good, things have been quiet.
