THE VISION AND IDEAS OF AYATOLLAH DR IMRAN LIAQUAT HUSSAIN AS UNDER
1. THE ABSOLUTE WISDOM IS CREATOR OF ALL EXISTENCE

2. KNOWLEDGE+RATIONALITY=INTELECTUAL VIRTUE AND MORAL VIRTUE
ABSOLUTE WILAYAT---ABSOLUTE WILAYAT IS THE COMBINATION OF PERFECT RESONING AND HOLY KNOWLEDGE

3. QUALITIES AND ABSOLUTE POWER OF GOD ARE EMERGENCE, APPEARANCE THE SHAPE OF WISDOM (WILAYAT)

4. philosophy of mind - The branch of philosophy that is concerned with the nature of mental phenomena in general and the role of consciousness, sensation, perception, concepts, action, reasoning, intention, belief, memory, etc. in particular. Standard problems include those of free will, personal identity, mind-body problem, other minds, computationalism, etc.
The philosophers of mind deal with metaphysics as it is concerned with the nature of mental phenomena, how mental phenomena are related to natural phenomena, and philosophical psychology broadly construed. Philosophy of psychology is sometimes considered as a subfield of philosophy of mind. However it is, perhaps, more closely related to philosophy of science.
While the great philosophical distinction between mind and body in western thought can be traced to the Greeks, it is to the seminal work of René Descartes.
The history of philosophizing about the relation of body and mind since Descartes is the history of attempts to escape the Cartesian impasse. Early maneuvers of this sort, such as those of Malebranche, Spinoza, Leibniz, and the French materialists La Mettrie and Cabanis, were formulated in the context of metaphysics, in direct response to Cartesian dualism. Later views which arose in the 19th century needed to reconcile evidence from studies on the localization of cerebral function and on functional nervous disorders with prevailing theory in biology and psychology. These discussions reflected the newly accepted view that the brain serves as the organ of mind. Although these theories of mind/brain relations -- epiphenomenalism, interactionism, dual-aspect monism, and mind-stuff theory -- were formulated in the context of science, they too were oriented toward circumventing the Cartesian impasse.
METAPHYSICS --- THAT WHICH COME AFTER --- PHYSICS –THE LATTER BEING THE STUDY OF NATURE IN GENERAL .THUS THE QUESTION OF METAPHYSICS ARISE OUT OF, BUT GO BEYOND, FACTUAL OR SCIENTIFIC QUESTION ABOUT THE WORLD. AYATOLLAH DR IMRAN LIAQUAT HUSSEIN

Karna, I'm glad you found a minute in your busy days to put up a new journal entry and pictures...you don't know what a welcome study break it was to read and check up on the kids! I looked through some pictures of when I first started helping out with the babies, and I cannot believe how much they've grown up! Thanks for keeping us up to date! When are you coming to Duluth?! :)

Ditto: Yea! an update!! I, too, check your journal weekly, and know that you cannot possibly update it that often...but am always SO excited when you do. The kids are growing so fast, and looking wonderfully angelic :-)
I hope that we can see you in person this next summer. Until then, we just get peeks at your lives and still really appreciate that! Love to all.

YAY!! An update finally!! Just wanted to let you guys know I'm STILL reading your updates. Even from the far land of San Diego, CA. This nanny can't believe how BIG those kids are getting!! I'm getting married back home on January 14th! I'm a labor and delivery nurse out here in San Diego. I definitely think of Marcus, Signe, and Tatum when I'm taking care of my pre-term patients!! Joe (my fiancee) is in the Navy, and is from Prior Lake.
That's where my life is right now!! God Bless this holiday season!!!

Fun to see you tonight at music. Sorry we missed Marcus. I hope you aren't done with the journal. Take all the break you need. But I miss getting the updates. Sorry, don't mean to put any pressure on you. If you are done, I will totally respect that! Looking forward to seeing you next week.

Hi - I've been thinking of you and your family. Hope all is well. How's Cully doing in kindergarten? I'm busy planning a salad luncheon/craft and bake sale at our church. It's something I've volunteered to do the last 5 years or so. When will I ever learn? Oh, just kidding! It is fun, and the money helps the church in many ways. Last year, we were able to purchase a new refrigerator for the fellowship hall. Well, take care, and hope you find time for a journal entry or some pictures one of these days.

Karna and Bob,

The quiet, peaceful times do come (for me about 21 years later). Erika, Aani, Kirsten and I have just returned from almost 3 weeks away--10 days of wonderful calm, relaxing time on Lake Cascade high in the mountains north of Boise. It was a good time for us all, even with whitewater rafting, canoeing, hiking, driving on forest roads, swimming, but much sitting on the wonderful deck, taking long walks at sunset on the beach, etc.

Thank you so much for the perceptive descriptions of the children. It helps us to know them.

Hello - Just got home today from being in Northfield for a week....helping Dennis and Tania with the kids, and Al assisting with their deck building. Sorry, I couldn't make it outside to see you that one day when you stopped by, Bob. The grandkids were keeping me busy! We had such a good time with them! Anyway, I was anxious to check out your website once we got back home. It's fun to follow everyone's progress and see the latest family pictures. Looking forward to your next journal entry. Thanks for writing!

Knew that you are were alive and surviving, but glad to have the confirmation. Hooray for the 40th Bob--all of them are fun. Congratulations Karna on getting such a major surprise carried off. But that is not a surprise for those of us who know you.

Camping/motel experiences with our four was always fun, but the sleeping part was not to be counted in the "fun." It might have worked with five separate rooms/tents instead of just the one.

Hi....Happy 40th, Bob! Sounds like you're all having a nice summer. Dennis and Tania were here last week and did some home improvement for us - Dennis, painting our garage and Tania, laying tile on the basement floor. We sure appreciated their hard work. They left Rachel, Sarah, and Ryan with us for a few days, after that, and went home to start on their new deck. It's always a joy to have the grandkids with us! Al's up in Alaska right now, with my brother - doing some sightseeing and halibut fishing. I had a chance to go, too, but I'm too scared to fly since 9/11. I'm regretting it now - would have been a trip of a lifetime, but I'm trying to keep busy here, and looking forward to his return. Hope you continue your journal and pictures. It's always fun to check in with you.

Karna,

I have just realized that my entries in the guestbook are somewhat of a journal for me for the past 2 years. I have just put them all together and have reread many. they remind me of the joy both Jill and I have shared as we celebrated and heard about your faimly. It also has been a record of some elements of Jill's health, but more of our wonderful time together. I hope you can keep writing. I will try to also. Busy time for us--Kirsten is one of the leads in the high school play with 5 performances this weekend, I accompany a middle school choral festival and play for a Music and Menus symphony fundraiser, Erika has "Merry Widow" and I accompnay her junior recital in the next week, Kirsten's prom is next weekend and I (with the help of other parents) will have the formal dinner for a group of 16-20 at our house (plus I am playing for a wedding the same afternoon--that will take careful planning--but I do have wonderful help.) And college will finish in the next two weeks!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Karna,
What fantastic life stories you are recording! I talked to your mom the other night and she said you were thinking of not writing...PLEASE keep it up - it's truly wonderful for those of us who are far away and don't get to see you often, and will be something that you and your children will cherish later on. It is a priceless gift!

Karna, As I think you know I have been trying also to keep a journal this year. No entries since the beginning of March. Life continues to be busy with four daughters ages 17, 19, 21 and 24. Different from when they were little like yours, but still so busy. Enjoyed Cully's reaction to his school and glad that it sounds so much like the Arts Alternative atmosphere. It will be a good place for him I am sure. I have such wonderful memories of you as a first grader at Arts and entries from your journal from that year remain vivid in my mind! Pictures are great this time too. Erika is engaged! Wedding Nov. 26. Lots to think about and plan. Joel

Hi Karna - It was nice seeing you while we were in Northfield a few weeks ago. I enjoyed reading your latest journal entry, and seeing the cute pictures of the kids. Keep writing! By the way, my cousin's wife is doing better now. She's been transferred to a hospital in Fargo, to be closer to home, and is finally off the ventilator and able to sit up for short periods of time. It's been a long haul for her, being in the hospital since mid-January. She still has rehab ahead of her, but I know she can do it. She's one strong lady! Everyone's prayers are working! Hope to see you again when we're visiting with Dennis and Tania and the grandkids.

Hi Karna...I continue (when I can) to follow your journals and you continue to inspire me with your amazing mothering abilites! I am waiting for the entry about when potty training will begin for your 3:) We are making that step at our house. Can you believe we will all be celebrating third birthdays...I love to watch them grow, but miss the infant stage terribly. We have our follow up with Dr. Hoekstra on May 3rd. Each time we see him it is such an emotional day...we are reminded of how fortunate we are!
Fargo is good...we are happy with our move. We miss some of the opportunities that the cities offers, but love how much more we see our family! Hope all continues to be well for you and family!

Karna, All sounds great in spite of colds and viral stuff. I have just gotten back from tour with the IWC choir. Had a really good time. Relaxing for me. Saw Mamma Mia! in Toronto. Donna, the mama, reminded me a lot of you. She was excellent as was the whole show. It is the kind of mindless entertainment that I need now. The choir sang in some really impressive churches which was exciting for these mostly Iowa kids. Saw Niagara Falls in the winter which is awesome. All the mist was blowing right towards us. It was cold and very windy. I loved it. The only thing that could have been better would to have had Jill see it with me. One of the plans was to go to Niagara together. She had never been there. I had gone several times in the early 1970's. Emotions come and go. Always thinking of you.

Hi Karna and Bob - It's always fun to read your journal and see the latest pictures of the kids. Hope things are going well for you this week. The Caring Bridge website has become very important to me. Along with keeping up with your family, I am able to read about my cousin's wife, who is in Region's Hospital in St. Paul. She's been there for the last month, recuperating from a car crash, in which my cousin and two of their children were killed. She and their 12 year old were badly injured. Fortunately, he was just discharged, but she will be there for awhile yet, and then will be transferred to Fargo, to be closer to home. Please keep her in your prayers. I'll look forward to reading your next entry. Take care.

Karna and Bob,

I am so envious of the wonderful ice skating experience, the puppet theater and all of that. We never really did find the way to enjoy the motel experience--yes the swimming pool, and the girls loved being able to watch TV which they really never did at home, but the going to bed and trying to get some sleep was always impossible. Much of that was due to the financial constraints of having us all in the same room. So glad Gordy and Betty are back safely.

Karna, So glad to have some news from Gordy and Betty. What you are setting up sounds so much like Jill's procedure for getting her first grade stations going at the beginning of the year. It did not just happen that every child knew how to handle the freedom and the structure of that classroom. Good luck.

The night ritual of reading and music reminded me of sitting in the hall reading to our girls sitting outside the doorway when all 4 were in one room, and later when we moved and there were two bedrooms for them I sat in the hall. It worked for all except Kari.

Thanks.

Karna and All,

Your perceptive comments and observations about each child and the family dynamics reminds me so much of Jill. She was always able to verbalize and capture the special qualities of each of our girls, and to then give the concrete examples that let the reader have a complete picture of that child. You do that so well. So many things in this journal resonate with values/conversations that Jill and I had. She too loved being at home with our four, but she missed the intellectual stimulation of adult contact, and just that affirmation that she was a thinking/seeing person that children do not give to their parents--unfortunately not for a long, long time. The difficulties of the overwhelming nature of the job of a parent at home is lost on many, but not on you and Jill. I can remember my own mother saying sometime in the late 1950's that she was so thankful the first day we finally had a meal that someone did not spill their milk--there were four in my family, but spread out--so that milestone may have even taken longer, but not as many spills during one meal. I can understand Cully wanting the triplets to understand how to behave now that he can behave--unfortunately that will just continue, because as he grows and they grow his maturity level will mostly be just ahead of the kinds of control that they are just developing. We still have that issue with 24, 21, 19 and a 17 year old. Good luck. You are doing wonderfully.

All 4 girls were in Rockford for their grandmother's funeral for which they sang. Lots of loss and continued grieving. Very difficult to go to her house -- most likely for the last time -- and all the memories of all our Christmases and Thanksgivings and summers and weekends that we spent there -- and in a very real sense to take leave of both their mother and grandma in the place where so many wonderful experiences and close times took place. It was and is just hard for all of us.

Keep writing--we will read.

I've not visited your website for a long time but got a new computer and was looking over the bookmarks that were migrated to my new machine and...found you again. Though we enjoy seeing you in church, it was fascinating to read about the personalities, likes and dislikes your 4 'little people' are developing. Being a blessing certainly goes both ways--you and Bob are a blessing to your 4 children in the loving, thoughtful ways you interact with each of them. Fun to read up on you all!!!

Karna, I love the pictures. Halloween was Jill's favorite of the holidays. She would love the pictures too. She loved the creativity and imagination and fantasy that it loosened in children (and in adults if they would allow it.) She and Eileen Johns loved their K-1 Hallowen parties. Our house is again decorated with LOTS of hanging pumpkins and almost as many orange lights as we have at Christmas. Kirsten (at 17) still costumes for the season--a week ago in the final marching band show, she and two friends were Charlie's Angels as she sang her solo striding down the 50 yard line. Tonight she has gone to a high school Halloween dance dressed as a lion. The pictures remind me so much of the fun Jill and I have had these years as the girls have grown. Sometime around 1974-5 Jill flew from O'Hare to Columbus OH on Halloween going directly from school in her witch's costume, with green face, snaggle teeth, red blood dripping from the side of her mouth, a sleeping bag with her broom tucked in it. At the TWA check in counter the agent said "What are you doing?" and her response was "Isn't this the Travelling Withches Association?" They let her fly. (I doubt that this would have occurred without lots of consternation in 2004.) Her seat mate finally asked "What the hell is going on?" She ignored him. I met her in Columbus with a ladylike friend who was so embarrassed to be seen with us. And through it all Jill just acted like all was perfectly normal. This could have been when you were in her class. Hope this chases away the colds. Think of you often. The months do pass. It is hard right now to have any sense of time.

Hi Karna and Bob
I check your website every week. I enjoy hearing your stories. Often times, your adventures remind me of some of ours. (We had little fingers smashed in the car door last week.) I like the pic w/ the 4 kids at the table and their colored drinking glasses. All 4 of our kids have a specific color that is 'theirs'--especially when it comes to drinking glasses. It is helpful, and I like to think it eliminates some chaos.
Hope to see you at the reunion!!

Karna,

Your shoe swap is not at all like what Jill and I did, but reminds me of our shopping at an Old Order Amish Country Store an hour north of here--no electricity, but is heated in the winter. Shoes (all were black and most were high tops) were inexpensive ($2.98 to $4.99) in sizes from baby on through grownup. Our girls almost always wore these all the time and the few times we went to a "real" shoe store where there was someone to "fit" them--those were the shoes that our girls would never wear because of pinching or other uncomfortable things. I am impressed with the singing, the counting and the quickly developing mastery of language. Jill and I loved watching all of that happen. Remember that they learn more in these first six years than they do ever later in life. You both are doing such a wonderful job in parenting, and none of it is ever easy. It takes so much thought and flexibility and creativity. You are blessed with all of that. I know that you are enjoying all of the wonderful moments--especially those such as Cully's so accurate description of why he loves you. What an insightful child! With the language and thinking skills that allowed him to express his thoughts with such clarity. And where and how did he learn to do this--by the examples of those around him--you and Bob, grandparents, and those with whom he has contact. ALL RIGHT ON TARGET! Treasure these, as I know you do, and don't worry so much about all those other moments when you are thinking that things are not so perfect in behavior--both your and your children!

Dear Friends--I was thinking "known and unknown" but obviously we are all friends of Karna and Bob, and I have been reading the guestbook regularly(sometimes very quickly, but it has always been uplifting when our days were filled with uncertainty). We and our girls were at Karna and Bob's wedding and at Tim's funeral--I feel that I know many of you. Thank you for the prayers for me and especially for our daughters--Kari--a chemistry graduate student at Purdue, Erika--a junior music major at Augustana in Rock Island, Aani, a freshman at Capital University in Columbus, OH where she knows very few people yet, but has been surrounded by a loving community already and Kirsten, a junior at Mt. Pleasant High School.

Gordy and Betty had sent Tim's essay on death after his death, but it continues to be a wonderful testament to his and our Christian faith, but I had not thought of it recently. Jill has always been the one to remember the significant details at exactly the right time!

In Christ's everlasting love,

Hi Karna,
Thank you for the kind words about our friend, Jill. I first met you at Jill and Joel's wedding, but you were so young at the time. I saw you from the balcony at the service on Thursday, and as you were leaving the Parish Hall later in the evening, but I couldn't catch you at the time.

I have been enjoying your journal about your family since Joel gave me the link when the triplets were dressed up for halloween in 2002 in their banana split outfits. I check the guest book quite often and have read the notes Joel and sometimes Jill left for you. Sometimes I learned more about what was happening in Mount Pleasant at Browndahl from your guest book than from Jill especially in this past year, but those updates were always appreciated.

Jill loved all her students, but I know that she had a special place in her heart for you. May God bless you as you grieve yet another person in your life taken too soon.

Hi Karna,
I, too, thought of all of you and Tim's birthday. I'm glad that you and your mom were together.
After reading the jornal entry this week, all I can say is WOW!! Hang in there! I know why we have children when we're young! I thought it was bad when Kim and Heather (and you and Tim) were young, but it was NOTHING compared to what you're going through. I burst out laughing when reading about Marcus' antics...I couldn't help it! :-) I know it isn't funny when you're involved. Love to all!

We too think of Tim often and remind the girls about who he was and the importance of living your life according to your values and ideals. An inspiration to all. They were so young when he died that only Kari has concrete memories of the times we were with you all. It does seem impossible that it has been that long.

Erika back from Sweden where her Swedish became so fluent that that is all she spoke most of the time. The last week was spent in Rivedal and Holmedal, Norway with cousins on the farm where her greatgrandfather was born. It was the highlight of her Scandinavian summer. She easily communicated with the older relatives in Swedish and their Norwegian. She was so excited when she returned home on Monday of this week.

JILL IS FINALLY FEELING A LITTLE BIT BETTER. Not a lot but she feels that she may eventually recover so that she can feel like living. Have had lots of appointments in Iowa City this week and all she saw were encouraged to see this bit of progress. I am also optimistic that she will be able to return to most of the activities that she needs to be able to do. It has been a difficult 3 months for her.

Do you think that Bob's high school friend who is the dancer/actor would want to bring something here to IWC in this next year. We have a fund that could support this. If so send me his email, or have him contact me. I am not on the journal page and so I can't remember his name.

Hi, Karna. I can't believe I am just now writing in this for the first time. This website is great. I don't spend too much time on the Web, as you can imagine. I don't know how you can keep up with this -- it will be a wonderful memoire for the kids to browse through when they get older! Your little ones are beautiful. We just had another on Feb. 24 -- Joseph Andrew Silva, and he's a doll. If you send me a note with your Email, I can send you pictures. Wish we could all get together sometime. Sounds like an interesting idea with the ladder. Christian is still in his crib too, and I am NOT looking forward to the day when he starts climbing out! You're in my prayers. Just a quick "HI" from Grandma Paula and Grandpa Dan Bry. We just spent a beautiful weekend with Patti and Ryan and their little one, Zachary. Its hard to believe that he is already 3 1/2mths. old. Susan and Brian's baby, Mya Jane, is due to arrive around June 4. We're anxious to see her!! Ryan interviewed for a position at Sundstrand today. It would be a dream come true to have them here. But would miss our trips to the Cities and an occassional visit with your folks. Was soo good to see them in Jan. It sounds like your life is extra, extra busy. I remember the days filled with "sanity" prayers!!! I found our Mothers of Twins/Multiples Club to be a life saver! I too worked a few garage sales. It was a busy time in our lives with only 2 babies at once. I wish that I"d kept a journal of those moments in time. Best close for now. Dan and I head to Cocoa Beach, FL at 5 am tomorrow for a week of togetherness. Yup!!! that time does come when the house is quiet and the kids come only for short visits. Cherish your memories!
Love, Paula and Dan

Dear Karna,
What a trip you had! We're so glad that you're home safe and sound...even if it is freezing in MN! It was -20 here this morning, too.
I just roared out loud when I saw all that luggage. I'm at work now, and my co-workers came running! All 4 of those children looked very engrossed at the beach...and I think that your continued efforts at this journal will be such a gift for them (as it is now for us!)

All our love to all of you!

Karna and Bob,

Always thinking of you. Use the leashes--what people think should not be a concern when alternatives to child safety are limited. AND they might think they are FUN!

Jill might have some good ideas about how to handle all at home and activities that could be creative, educationally stimulating, age appropriate and keep them occupied and safe for 2 1/2 hour +++ at a time!!!! Give us a call if desperate--or even if not to that point. Cell phone is 319-321-5452 and 319 385 7467--even in the middle of the night--Jill is not asleep as much as she is awake so the chances of finding her awake are strong.

Do have a merry Christmas. Hope the runny noses, coughs, and general discomfort clear up soon. Remember that mostly they are strong babies and ready to fight off all the really bad stuff and dealing with these "minor" problems helps ward off and develop protection with the bigger stuff--think of these past weeks as a type of in-house vacination.

Erika and Kari are now home, the brother of our Romanian exchange student arrived Thursday eve and we leave this afternoon for Rockford--all remains hectic here too.

We love you.

Hi Karna, Bob, Cully, Tatum, Signe and Marcus! We thoroughly enjoy reading your journal and seeing all the great pictures every week. Now I realize how little I've responded to you - so sorry about that. It's not good to hear that there has been so much sickness - I know with only one or two at a time it would get to me, too. But now we have grown children with a grandchild on the way in January so all those times do pass - you just have so many at once to be dealing with. We ask God's blessings on all of you this Thanksgiving week. We will be traveling, first to Madison on Thursday to be with the Koblers, then on to Cashton to be with the Petersons. Bill has been very busy with his presidency obligations - traveling all over Illinois to give presentations. I have gone with him several times - sure is fun to see many people we've met at other times. Michael & Jill are excited about their baby due at the end of January. Daniel is working on developing his own website design company from his home. Know anyone who needs a website? He asked for 10 of them on his Christmas List!! You can find his website at dankobler.com. Also check on Michael's woodworking projects at mikekobler.westernalternative.com. Please greet Gordy and Betty and know that our thoughts go to Tim at this time also. God bless all of you - Love, Bill & Carolyn

HI, Karna & Bob, and everyone else, too.
It's a rainy day in Illinois. Is anyone up there leaving smudge marks on the windows? My kids when they got to be a little older than what yours are now loved to run in the rain, esp. if there's a downpour! We had so looked forward to meeting your little ones in person at the family reunion, so it was a big disappointment when we didn't get to come. Hopefully, soon??? might be wishful thinking though, still, I do have siblings in MN, not too far from you.... thanks for keeping up with the website! we keep you in our prayers. Yes, enjoy the moment of the now--Jill can remember so much of all the moments of our girls early years. I remember more how all that felt emotionally, and in space (like where we were and how that space was) and time, but I don't recall the details as she does--I rely on her for most of that. I think each of us has such different experiences with our memories. Anyway I agree that it is so important to enjoy all of it--even the chaos. It does pass quickly and these several years are the formative ones for all four--it really isn't 18--yes, they are with us, but the values, the patterns, the ways of doing and living are set in these first months and years. After that the WORLD and all of that takes over. You both are doing a wonderful job. Enjoy it. And you obviously are making good choices. None of us do it perfectly.

We love you

Hi Karna, Bob and Babies,
Karna I loved your June 8th entry. I remember when Majid was 2 yrs. old and the twins were one....babies everywhere. Never a dull moment!! You are both truly blessed with four beautiful and healthy babies! The babies are also blessed to have two loving, caring and nurturing parents like the two of you! Sonia and Sawra have so many wonderful memories of their two Hauk coaches...Grandpa Hauck and Daddy Hauck both contributed to making their stay at St. Olaf such a wonderul experience.
Assad, Sawra, Sonia and I leave for Iran on June 20th to July 12th! This is the first time for the girls...so it's especially exciting for them to meet their relatives and see the country where there father was born!! Take care all of you. I really enjoy the pictures of the Triplets and Cully growing up and Karna's humorous journaling. Love, Lynne

Karna--God bless your spirit and unending energy for your beautiful children and God bless your nights to be restful.
Bob--I trust the kids will continue to pick on your hair "issues." And if they forget, some former swimmer is sure to remind them of the days you wore a wedding ceremony program on your head to protect from sunburn.
Cully, Marcus, Signe, and Tatum--you are lucky children to have such devoted and loving parents. I hope that one day you can see all the wonderful things your mom has shared with us through this website and know that there is a big world out there filled with people who love you.

Know that you have had a wonderful trip, but will be so glad to be back with the larger family. Jill had much more separation problems than I did when the girls were babies and it continues even now. But she lets them go and encourages it, but it is hard. Karna, that seems not to change.

We leave tomorrow to celebrate with Kari as she graduates this Saturday from Hollins U. She has loved her time there but is ready to go on (Los Alamos again this summer, to Costa Rica in June to accompany the college choir at a College Music Society meeting there, and then to Purdue in August!) Erika will be home taking a few classes at Wesleyan, Kirsten got her permit yesterday and will be in drivers ed. Aani will be busy! So will we.

Love the pictures and the journal. Thanks always.

Dear Karna, Bob and All,

Quick note as always. it is ajoy to read about you and your family. And although we remain somewhat stressed, reading about the joys of seeing the changes in each of your four, and also your own changes always encourages me to think of all the joys that Jill and I continue to have.

I love hearing how much you are able to enjoy all of this even when it is stressful (which could be most of the time, yes?) Give Betty a hug for us, and Gordy when he returns too.

Karna and Bob-

Hello. It is wonderful to stay updated on your family. The milestones of your children are great.
You will notice the milestones come faster and faster as time goes on.

Keep the updates and "random" thoughts coming. It is a joy to read.

Hi Karna, Bob, and little ones!
It was great to get your holiday card and to be able to check up on you all through the web site. Sounds like you are doing great! Wish we could help out while your mom is gone--really!

Hello Karna,

This is Liz's friend, Amy, from Billings. Just wanted to say that you are my NEW hero....breastfeeding triplets for 8 months! Wow. I'm seriously in awe. You deserve an award for that!!!!!! LOL! Your children are so cute and I love to read about their milestones and see the pictures.

What a fun family & adorable pictures. We've been tuning in since we got your Christmas card & have gotten caught up on the babies. I'm glad you survived Bob being gone! We think about you often, as we are awaiting the arrival of ONE, yes that's ONE, little one this summer. When we start to think of everything there is to get ready, we think of you and smile! Love & Blessings to all of you!

Howdy Haucker 6-Pack,

Happy New Year from sunny Cali. It was a whopping 80F the other day, so I thought of you guys while watch the snow flurries during the Packer-Falcon game. You sound like a busy momma Karna....and that husband of yours sneaking off to Hawaii to work (yeah right). Hope we can see you guys sometime in 2003. We actually will be in your area the weekend of September 20 for a triathlon in Menomonie, WI. I hope you're around at that time so we can come and visit. I never made it to Northfield the last time I was there, so this time it's a must. Bobeeee - teach Cully what the NFL playoffs are all about this weekend by watching the Raiders. Cully needs to know that there are teams that actually play in January (ouch - Vikes!!). Goodbye and Happy 10th Anniversary.

Some thoughts about when our 4 girls were younger. Reading about your preparations for going to your parents for Christmas reminds me of one "rule" or guiding principle that Jill and I eventually adopted (we always have gone to Rockford for a week or more at Christmas--taking diapers, lots of changes of clothes, etc, plus all the Christmas presents--and keeping the Santa ones out of sight, and in the summer our trips to my family in Virginia for several weeks required similar preparations, plus the vagaries of weather--98 in Iowa, but it could be in the low 40's at night in Rural Retreat--meant that a tremendous variety of clothing was always needed) BUT back to the "rule"--We leave whenever the last one of us is ready! It worked really well for us and lessened frustrations immensely.

When Erika was two, and not sleeping ever through the night, and Jill was pregnant with Aani, I said to Jill, "I don't know if I can take another two years of this interrupted sleep!" Aani began sleeping through the night around 3 months and Erika joined her in this about the same time! Was I ever thankful? Yes!

Kari, of course, had prepared us by only sleeping about a 10 hour stretch once a day. Unfortunately that stretch was not always during our nighttime sleeping hours. We survived. You will too, but sleep is a wonderful restorer.

As always we enjoy the photos (and in your greeting which was wonderful as always) and the history of your weekly life.

Thanks

Joel

Hello family!
Thanks for the darling Christmas card and the update. I think of you often. We've had a rough time w/ our 2 year old waking up 3-4x per night, and he sleeps in the same room with our 1 year old. I wonder how you do it. I hope you continue to stay healthy. The "YUCKS" has hit our gang this Christmas season. It's not fun. Praise the Lord for family to provide relief. We hope to see you in Wisc. for the reunion. We look forward to Mitchell and Cully meeting. Mitchell saw Cully's picture and said "me and dadda". It will be fun for him to have someone his age. Hope to see you in July. Much love! The Denneys-- Bob, Suzie, Sara, Tyler, Mitchell and Landon

HEY! Happy new years! That Holiday card you sent was really cute! Hope we can get together soon because I know how fast Signe, Tatum, and Marcus grow! (and I would love playing with Cully) Today me and my friend Ashley were snowboarding (for the first time) and fell a lot! It really hurt! Well talk to you later!

What a beautiful baptism story! Oh how we missed you this weekend-for Christmas festival. Maria had her First Reconciliation on Saturday- it was a great family experience. We are sending healthy wishes and prayers as those cuties get rid of thier barks and sniffles. Blessings and continued rest to you as you prepare for this wonderous advent season. KARNA, you are so weird!!!! but in a most wonderful way. The banana split reminds me of your wonderful (and weird, often yes!) 1st grade journal An ear of corn with ear rings, pink rain, and so much other that I can't remember in detail, only in the marvelous impression of memory. We love you, and thanks for a great set of pictures to cheer up a very busy day.

Love seeing your updated pictures of the children. We enjoyed being with you for a brief time in August and look forward to seeing you again sometime soon. God's blessings!
We'll be in Rochester the next few days and will stay with Michael & Jill - Bill has a meeting at Mayo's. Daniel is in Chile, South America for a couple of weeks - he's visiting his girlfriend, Jody, who is teaching English in a Spanish school for a year. I'm sure he will have lots of stories!
