Wednesday, December 20, 2006 11:48 AM CST Thank you for checking on Grace! We are thrilled to report that Grace has completed her third year of remission with no evidence of disease! Praise God! She is doing very well in the special education program at our local preschool, loves to make crafts in Sunday School, and her life skills are improving daily!
We recently had a conference with Grace’s teachers and Larry and I were so happy just to be sitting there, talking about our big 4-year old. Grace still has some social, behavioral, and cognitive problems--but she is still here! We are so thankful. Grace does not have to go back to visit her pediatric oncologist until June 2007! Yea!
For those of you who are interested, here is an update on the rest of the family:
Grace’s auntie Karen has recovered from chemotherapy, radiation and surgery and is doing great! No more chemo!
Grace’s grandma Beverly is currently receiving weekly chemotherapy for her recurrence of uterine leiomyosarcoma. Beverly has 2 large tumors in her abdomen and the oncologist is using chemo to try to control the growth and spread of the cancer.
Please keep Beverly in your thoughts and prayers. Pray that her pain can be controlled and that chemo helps slow the growth of the cancer and prevents the sarcoma from spreading even more. Right now the tumors are inoperable, but we are praying that the chemo will help relieve the pain and reduce the size of the tumors so she can be more comfortable.
Larry continues to work as a youth director at our church and Gail continues to work as a writer/editor for a gardening magazine and is a Sunday School teacher for Abby’s grade.
Abby is in second grade and enjoys school, participating in the tone chimes group at church, and singing!! She recently recorded her first CD in daddy’s basement recording studio!
Merry Christmas and we pray that God will grant you and your family the peace that surpasses all understanding this Christmas and in the new year.
Love, Gail and Larry
