Welcome to Autumn's Web page! This page was created to keep everyone updated on Autumn's progress.
Autumn is 6 years old. She was born November 25, 2001. She was diagnosed in October 15, 2003, at age 23 months with Wilm's tumor Stage 3 favorable histology on her left kidney. The tumor was so large that they were unable to do surgery right away to remove it. She started chemotherapy and eventually had radiation to try to shrink the tumor. Although this did not work, she had surgery in February of 2004 and the tumor was successfully removed along with the left kidney. She had no other signs of cancer present. She finished her chemotherapy in April of 2004. She had clear scans and had her port-a-cath removed in May of 2004. She is now on a follow-up with ultrasounds and x-rays every 6-12 months. Clear scans in May 2008!

Thursday, April 9, 2009 9:47 PM CDT Today marks FIVE YEARS OFF TREATMENT! I can't believe our little miss is at this point. Her next set of tests are in June. I don't know what the schedule will be after that (yearly, longer?) but we are always praying for nothing but NED!
Here is a little story Autumn came home from school with in the past week. She thinks about it more than I realize but not in a bad way. In fact, it's pretty simple to her. Wish I could think that way!
Autumn gets better...... by Autumn Zickrick
When I was little I had cancer. I was two years old and I had to go to the hospital. I don't remember much. My mom stayed there with me. I had to eat icky medicine that made me sick. But it helped me get better. Now I am healthy and happy!
Well said Autumn!
Life is pretty great otherwise. Autumn loves first grade and has become an excellent reader. Calvin will turn 5 next week! He's all boy some days (except for his favorite color is pink-and usually with a little sparkle in it)...He is just so funny and trying to make us laugh. Marissa is 18 months old and has her own personality going on right now. She's pretty headstrong and knows how to work a situation..especially with Autumn!
Autumn is pretty excited to be a flower girl in my brother's wedding next September. All 3 will be in the wedding and it will be interesting! Can't wait to see them all dressed up. Bets are if Calvin actually will walk down the aisle during the ceremony :-)
Thanks for checking on us. We keep praying for our CB friends out there fighting, the ones in remission, and our angel buddies who we miss dearly.
Mel
