Journal

Thursday, July 9, 2009 7:58 AM CDT

13 Years ago today God blessed us with a beautiful baby girl. She had a head full of gorgeous black hair and the prettiest sparkling brown eyes you have ever seen. Even as a baby her smile was present and lit up the room. 442 days ago God decided that her job here was done and that it was time for her to be back with him.

Aleena's life here with us was not as long as we would expect it to be. But we will continue to celebrate it because she was here and she did make an impact on us. We are better people because she was here. As always I truly wish she could be here for us to hold, and kiss and love, but now we have to find new ways to show that we still remember her and love her. We will have, weather permitting, a balloon launch again today at 7 in the field by our house just like last year. That is one way we are choosing to remember Aleena and to celebrate her birthday.

Wow, 13 today. She would have officially been a teenager. She was really looking forward to being one and would have loved being a teenager.
