Abby Laurence Szott

What JOY and GRACE!!

Journal

Friday, August 8, 2008 5:10 PM CDT

Good afternoon friends and supporters of the Szott Foundation,

First of all, I want to publicly thank from the bottom of my heart, our Chairman of the second annual Tournament for Time, Kennedy Hoffman. Kennedy has tirelessly been working on this amazing event since July of 2007. He was making his first contacts even back then. His positive attitude, humor, graciousness, connections and huge heart have been the very backbone of this fundraiser. Thank you, Kennedy. and thank you for caring about my children in the amazing way that you do. I have never met anyone quite like you and my life has become richer because of it.

I cannot remember a summer that has flown by so very fast. When I think that the events surrounding the second annual Tournament for Time will begin in one week I am blown away. We are ready! As much as I hate to see the last days of summer melt away, I am so excited for the Tournament. Our teams of volunteers have been working so hard to guarantee this tournament will be the highlight of your summer, well at least one of the highlights of your summer.

I just got word that Luther Toyota has donated a fully loaded 2009 Camry for the Hole-in-One contest. Thank you so much Luther Toyota! We have been praying that someone will drive away with that new car on Saturday night. We are also praying that we will enjoy the kind of weather on the 15th and 16th that we had last year, brilliant sun, warm temperatures, and crystal clear blue skies. Lots of fun activities and entertainment from the Fabulous Farelanes at the wine and cheese social on Friday night to the Bluez Brotherz band for our enjoyment on Saturday evening are just a few. I have never been to a pig roast, so that I am really looking forward to, as well. The most significant highlight and one everyone will always remember, however, will be the official presentation of our third “gift of time” to 13-year-old Cameron Allen and his mom, Paula. Get ready for that!

I can’t wait to see everyone and visit a bit with you. Please, if I don’t remember your name, remind me. I have a vision impairment and sometimes recognizing faces I have only seen a couple of times is difficult.

Be on the lookout for a new page on our website which will be featuring the “Foundation’s Young Heroes”. We are constantly amazed at the creativity, energy, and dedication to the Foundation that so many young people are demonstrating. We are so excited to acknowledge and honor them, for they are the future of the Andrew and Abby Szott Foundation. As we get this page up and running, we will feature one hero each month. Thank you Young Heroes, for that is how we feel about you.

We also have a NEW BOARD MEMBER. Her name is Kelsey Webster, one of Abby’s dear friends and will be a 2009 graduate from the Carlson School of Business. Her Young Hero bio will be featured on the Board and Staff page. We are so lucky to have her and are looking forward to her expertise in marketing.

As always thank you all so much for your continued support of the Szott Foundation. The success of the foundation truly depends on a team effort approach. Thank you for being a member of our team.

Blessings!
Kathryn
