Wil's Page November 8, 2005
Wilson loves his cool mortorcyle bike from his Angel Laurie!
Welcome to Wilson's Web Page. It has been provided to keep friends and family updated about Wil's progress in his battle against leukemia. Our youngest son, Wil was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Nov 12, 2002 at the age of 2 1/2 yrs. Initially he was admitted to the hospital for a week. He has been hospitalized three times since, once with shingles, once with internal bleeding caused by chemo, and the most recent for fever and neutropenia. To date he has received nineteen blood transfusions. Please remember Wil and children like him the next time you have an opportunity to give the gift of life at a blood drive. Wil's doctors say that he is responding to the chemotherapy remarkably well. He acheived remission in seven days and will require treatments to continue for a total of just over three years. I hope to update this page weekly. Thanks for checking in and may God bless you and yours!
Journal
Monday, January 23, 2006 8:30 PM CST Wilson took his last 6-mp last night. Earlier in the evening all of the boys got to dump one of the Rx bottles and flush them--they loved it! Kyle only had two decadron tablets to flush and complained, until I explained that those were the nasty little pills responsible for his brother's nasty little moods.
I had hoped to have a party, but Wilson isn't feeling well. His hemoglobin is 7.4, the lowest it's been since LTM started. He's been fighting ear/sinus infections since before Christmas. The onc is sure it's a virus (after running lots of tests), but we're going for counts Thurs just to be safe. It seems a little anti-climactic, but maybe we'll have the party when his port is removed early this summer.
