Hi Enola, I met Travis and your husband at the DCI show in Battle Creek tonight. I was there with my three boys and had been chatting with the family behind us when your husband over-heard me mention Wilson just finishing his chemo this past January. We talked about caringbridge, and ALL-kids, and when he told me your first name--"I know her!" Such a small, strange world. My oldest son (13 1/2)is quite the drummer too. Travis looks great! We go for Wilson's 6 mos. OT labs Monday. He looked pale to me (and the nurses) last month, but Hgb was 11.9--highest it's been since dx. Enjoy your summer. :)

Hi Travis and Family: Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! Alex had a breathing treatment and blood counts (Travis - your blood counts are wonderful, it makes me think that maybe Alex's will go up again when he's finished with treatment), he had a physical. His blood counts were low, but he's still allowed to celebrate Turkey Day. About that hair situation - Alex's hair was the same way (it was curly and very soft and a lighter color) I realized that his hair was just like it was when he was a baby. After about 6 haircuts his hair went back to normal. So I think it might be a matter of time before those waves straighten out! Have you tried driving in the snow today? If not, I'm sure you will have plenty of other opportunities this winter. It seems like I just put my snow shovel away! Take care, Kalli and Alex

Don't know if you remember us, but we're a couple of "old timers" from the ALL KIDS list. We are sorry that our well wishes are belated, but CONGRATULATIONS to Travis and WELCOME to the OT Club! Chad finished tx in Nov. 2003 and now sees his Onc every other month for check ups. Enola, feel free to email me if you want to share OT stories! :0)
My older son Bryce is 16 and has an appt. at the DMV to get his license on the 28th of this month so I can TOTALLY relate to what you are going through in that regard also! Believe me, the fun never ends! :0)
Anyway, just wanted you to know that we are so thrilled for you all and will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers for a joyful, healthy future ahead!
Hugs,
Stacey & Chad Wada (now age 13)

Hi Enola and Travis,
I'm so glad you were able to update your website, we had checked yesterday afternoon and there wasn't an update. We kind of figured the day was long, great news though. Wow, didn't know the doctors would give such a long future appointment schedule! Travis should just ask the clinic for a permanent appointment date - I think he deserves to get first dibs on the best times. I don't know about having two kids taking driver's ed at the same time; sounds exciting! That is one thing I don't do well - well that and teaching kids to ride bikes. Gee, we'll miss reading your webpage - but are thrilled that the site won't be needed. Congratulations about everything! Kalli and Alex

TRAVIS !! I was just checking my e-mails when I came across the WONDERFUL news!! Although I didn't visit the web sight often, every time I came across an amusing joke (one that I thought mom& dad would allow) I would try to send it on to possibly cheer you up! Can't tell you how the news of your finally being done with treatment has made my day...yours as well, I'm sure!! Now-for the really hard part...learning to share the road with the psychos!! (There are more than you think!) Keeping you in my prayers, always!!

CONGRATULATIONS TRAVIS!! The end of chemo and a learners permit/drivers license all in the same time frame? I know, I know, boys just like to keep their moms on the edge right? Benjamin is already talking about driving and he is just 14. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! It's enough that I've let him be on the middle school football team. There have already been a couple of fractures, and other injuries among the team, so I'm anxious enough everday while he's at practice.

We share your happiness in the end of your treatment!! May the new found freedom and activities you enjoy bring you much joy!! Now you can concentrate on the things you like to do and not those things you HAVE to do.

God has truly blessed you, and your family by keeping you strong during all of this. Love to all!!

Hi Travis,
We're glad you were able to attend band camp. Wow, we can't believe how close you are to the end of your treatment! Are you going to miss Dr. A. J. and M.??? Since you have to go back once a month for awhile, you probably won't. The clinic experience will be much different now that you will be feeling well when you visit. That will be a nice change for you and your Mom. Take care, Kalli and Alex

I am getting almost, well maybe not, as excited as all of you are as the count down to finishing these treatments. It has been a long two years, then it seems like yesterday when the news came. You were a gift from God 16 yrs ago and he has not finished prefecting what He has started. His strength and love have substained you all. So many lives you and your family have touch during this trail, and He only knows the many in the future.
Keep up all the great work in band and bring the house down with your playing, we love you.
Mother says to tell you she loves you to, we take her back to doctor today. She is still not walking very much without being out of breath.

Norville family - What a great photo! I was moved to tears when I saw it! Having had the pleasure of having each of you in class, I know you as more than just faces on a webpage. Not only are you an attractive group but you are wonderful people. Your parents must be so proud of each of you. I remember Greg in 7th grade math...how quickly he'd fly through those darned timed tests! I still remember when Andrea "lost" one of the twins at Parent Conferences wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back when she was in middle school! It wasn't funny then, but looking back at those innocent times makes me laugh. No one ever said that growing up would be easy, but who would ever have guessed the struggle you'd face as a family in helping Travis fight his cancer. I'm certain that this ordeal has brought you even closer as a family. I thank God that Travis's journey is almost over. It's been emotionally exhausting looking in as your family so gracefully has dealt with everything. I can't begin to imagine what it's been like to walk in your shoes. Your faith, strength & determination have been an inspiration to all of us who have followed this journal. It's finally time to CELEBRATE! "Thanks be to God!"

I am very much praying that when Travis finishes his treatment he will never have to take any chemo, worry about any other health problems, or have his hair fall out again!!! He, as all our children, has had more than his fair share of visiting clinics, being examined and prodded by doctors and nurses, and hospital stays. And I hope and pray that in the near future all of us can say that 'unmentionable' word as we refer to an illness that has been cured! Take care, Kalli

Hi Enola,
Well, I couldn't have put it better myself! I had a wonderful time at the Mother's Day out, too. It really was a special treat. I had to push myself to go and found myself not wanting to leave. If the Piston's had won tonight it would have been a perfect weekend! You didn't miss much with the scrapbooking - there was just a bunch of mothers sitting there with our mouths hanging open, because they told us we had to make the book about ourselves! After all of us chose blue or something like that for our kids, needless to say I wasn't able to make one page. The day was supposed to be just about us and I sure had a hard time remembering who I am and what I like! (Ha, ha) The CD they gave us has some great songs on it - maybe I'll take some time and listen to my music and take a long hot bath with my bath oil they gave us. (Not right away of course - I'll wait for Alex to go to camp!) Take care, it was great seeing you the other day. Kalli

Hey T. I know this is my first signing of the guestbook, which is really @#$% performance for your brother, but hey, I really don't think about your health all that much. In fact, you had leukemia? I've always just thought of you as my brother, growing continually less annoying throughout the years, which I am hesitant to attribute to the aging so much as the poison.....in fact, im considering hooking Tim up with some of it just to see.

Just a quick note to let you know our thoughts and prayers are constantly with you. Keep your chin up and in a few short months this will all be a memory and things will return to normal. You will soon be doing so many things no one will be able to keep up with you. :) Keep fighting the good fight Travis!!

All our love,

I am so gald you are nearing the end of this long battle. You and your family have been so courageous during this time. I know God has something very special for you and your family. I thank God for the doctors knowing exactly what to do and when, and the strenght he has given you to endure all you have in the two years..how time passes.
We love you and wish you the best. Maybe next year you will not have to miss any of the fun stuff..

Hi Enola and Travis,
Hawaii is a beautiful place - you'll have to visit the rain forest while you are there. Alex was thinking about Hawaii but now we are going to Europe - he enjoys planning different trips because he has had over three years to think about it. Hang in there! Kalli and Alex

Morning Travis:
Just got back from spending Memorial Day with my daughter and family in Vermont. We enjoyed their parade. Did you get to march in the local parade? In any case on this sunny Tuesday morning I trust that it will be a good day for you. Ponder on these words from Psalm 92:1-2

1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,

And Your faithfulness every night,

Have a great day,
Pastor

Hi Enola and Travis,
Sorry to hear about the delay of your treatment, sometimes those blood counts just don't want to cooperate. Alex is supposed to go in on Wednesday for the same thing, and I know how hard it is to get prepared emotionally for treatment and then having to cancel the treatment and reschedule. I'm sure you can muster up 400 neutrophils by Friday! You'll be back on schedule before you know it! Take care, Kalli and Alex

Hey Skinny Boy –
I don’t think you can afford to lose anymore weight! Alex did have the same problem about a year and a half ago – and I know for a fact it’s scary for us Moms. When we need to rush you into the clinic or the hospital it isn’t because it’s fun!!! I can’t even give you guys a suggestion on what to try for nourishment because Alex never found one thing that he really enjoyed. This to will pass – we’ll keep you and your family in our prayers. Saw your post on the AOL WW page and interrupted work and life to read the journal about Travis. I can't even imagine going through what you are (I have four teens); you are obviously an incredible family! And Travis -- what a guy!!

My mom had ovarian cancer and for four years we went through the ups and downs and round-abouts. I wish you strength every day -- and I know you WILL find that "light at the end of the tunnel" when you look back, with a healthy Travis, and it all seems like a dream. Keep seeing that vision and you will get through!

Hi, Travis and Enola! Trav, your mom visited Kyle's site and said you're having port troubles, too. So sorry! Sorry you're stuck at home with neutropenia, too. We know that stinks. But I can tell you're big and strong, like Kyle is tiny and strong (inside, anyway). You have hopes and prayers in Indiana that you stay out of the hospital and are back in the world soon!

Hi Travis and Enola,
Sorry to hear about the low blood counts, wow - I can see why you said Travis was severely neutropenic. We will keep him in our prayers. It really does get better - can you believe that Alex has not been in the hospital since 2003 - 2004 was a breeze compared to 2003, and we seem to be sailing through the first part of 2005. We just keep focused on February 2006 when he is finally finished with chemotherapy! Alex was just telling me about all the diseases going around his school - so I think Travis is better off at home. Take care - and hang in there!

Norville Family - It's been a loooooooooong time since I've signed in...though you've remained in my thoughts and prayers! How great it was to see both mom & dad at our recent blood drive! 42 pints of blood donated...63 total appointments...and 17 first time donors! Needless to say, I very proud of the Health classes for sponsoring this event. Your situation has helped us to spread the word about the importance of blood donation. With all that you're going through...it feels good for us to be able to do a little something to make a difference. May your will to fight & remain positive be strengthened daily by His love. Be well. Caryn (aka Mrs. MacDonald)

Hi Enola
Thank you for signing Jonathan's guestbook. I am sorry Travis is having trouble gaining weight, and hospital stays. I thought maintenance was supposed to be a "breeze"! Oh, well, we'll just take it one day at a time. I certainly hope Travis feels better so he can enjoy his teenage years more!

Take Care,

Hey Travis,
Alex and I hope you can go back to school soon - we don't think it's fair that you don't have to take your midterms like Alex is this week. The good news is that Alex's counts were great, the bad news is he doesn't have an excuse not to go to school and take his midterms! (Ha, ha) Alex has been where you are before and I know it's not pleasant, but things will get better! You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Travis - Wow you're really trying to give mom heart failure with those low blood counts! I guess that's what teenagers do, right? Hopefully, you'll be able to avoid any further contact with sick people. Alex is jealous that you've been able to talk to the doctors about the end of your treatment. No one will talk to him about the end of his chemo yet, (he still has about two years to go). Alex is healthy enough to go to Thanksgiving dinner this year for the first time in two years! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving and keep your chin up - things will get better.

Hi Enola and Travis,
You can't be the worse mother - that's my title! I know how you feel about the guilt, and never being able to take things for granted. It seems like we have to always be on guard. We should give ourselves a break since we didn't choose to be a 24 hour nurse, the position was forced upon us. Shortly after Alex's year anniversary he was admitted to the hospital for the same thing. Never did figure out anything other than a virus. I think the only difference was that Alex couldn't even drink anything because his stomach hurt so much he couldn't even stand water. He had to see a gastrointestinal specialist and then he never found out what it was, and said it was a virus. The new wing of the hospital sounds wonderful - but we certainly aren't anxious to visit! Dr. J. suggested we visit, and we said we would have to pass, although we would like to see Alex's tile of 'Nemo'. Things will get better, I promise, we are now two years into this and things have calmed down a lot. By the way I can't stand those darn IV's beeping all night either! When I was with my father in the hospital and his IV went off, I immediately ran to get a nurse. We’ll look for your picture in the paper Travis – I’m glad they were able to use someone older for the article. We're so glad you're both home!

Hello, i was watching a couple of new records being set at the Olympics today, so thought i would look up some slightly stranger ones instead of some jokes.

Here's a couple;

Most spoons balanced on the face
Tim Johnston (USA) (b. 1 January 1992), was able to balance on his face (one on each ear, two on each cheek, three on his chin, two on his lips, one on his nose and three on his forehead) and balance them for 30 seconds at on May 28, 2004.

British pub landlord Garry Turner clipped 153 ordinary wooden clothes pegs on his face at the WH Smith bookshop in York, Yorkshire, UK, on September 28, 2002

I live and North Dakota, and get to see Josh pretty frequently, which is always fun:) I was diagnosed with Leukemia on September 22, 2003. Hope you are feeling well, and having a great summer! Hope your ANC counts are on their way up! lol mine have been up for a couple weeks and are on their way down! It was a suprise i had a 900 count ANC and only a 1.6 white count last week! But then again my body never seems to do what we expect:) lol
You are in my prayers! Have a GREAT day!

Travis you are a trooper! I have added you to my bracelet that I wear everyday remembering those that I know that struggle with Leukemia & Lymphoma as I train for the Dublin marathon with Team in Training. The fundraising and training are very time consuming but worth knowing that it can help to make a difference in your life! You are a special guy and know that God has awesome plans for your life. As a matter of fact, you are impacting many lives right now! As a Red Cross Blood Bank coordinator I am organizing a blood drive coming up on June 21 at Royal Oak (let your dad know!!!). I had a guy come up to me yesterday and sign up to give for the first time because he heard about you and how important blood transfusions were to those with blood cancers.

I have a fundraiser coming up at Mongolian BBQ in Royal Oak on June 29 and would be honored if you could come. I will be the "guest griller" and MBB will donate all grilling tips to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I will also have a silent auction to raise additional donations.

You are in my thoughts each time I put my miles in!

With love and best wishes,
Laura Sawyer

Dear Enola, Travis and family,
I hope you are having a good day. I am a member of the ALL-KIDS List. I read the posts but I don't post often. My son Thomas was dx with t-cell/ALL on June 20, 2000 he was almost 13 at the time. As you know it was a very challenging time for him and our family. He hated every stinkin minute of the on treatment experience and it was a looong road but he completed his treatment August 12, 2002.
Just the other day, his 14 year old sister commented "wouldn't it be great if we had a crystal ball to see what was going to happen in the future" to which my son Thomas responded,"yeah, we could find out tommorrow's lottery numbers and I could get that Red Wrangler I've been begging for"...my younger son chirped in "we could go to Disney World"..my husband was about to reveal his wish list when my daughter stopped him and said "No not for something like that...wouldn't it have been nice to know that every thing was going to be OK, I mean when Thomas was sick it seemed like nothing would ever be normal again and here we are and we are just like everybody else again"...there was a pause of silience and Thomas shared"it seems like that happened a lifetime ago, it almost seems like it never happened..pause..alright enough of that serious stuff, when can I expect to get that red Wrangler..is it even a remote possibility Dad??
I know that things are really rough for you and your family right now. Take it one day at a time. Things can and do get better.
Hang in there.
Sincerely,
Eileen, Mom to Thomas(16), Dx:t-cell/ALL 6/00, POG 9404, OT:8/02

Hi Travis and Family,

I'm not sure if I've introduced myself yet but I'm Teresa. My nephew is 7 yrs old and was dx with T-Cell ALL on 9/5/03. I don't post much on the ALL-Kids list read all postings to keep up with all our kids.

Enola, I just wanted to let you know that my Alex missed 5 weeks of chemo during consolidation due to low ANC. I was so scared about it but now realize that his body is very sensitive to his chemo treatment. A delay in chemo is okay (relatively speaking), it gives their body time to rest for the next dose. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone with your fears and anxiety.

My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Travis..you're a handsome young man!! Hang in there buddy!

I've been hearing all about you lately in school. Everyone is wishing you well and wanting you back to school. We have never personally met, but I can tell you have alot of friends, and have alot of people looking out for you. Keep a smile on your face, I know that helps being optimistic. Maybe one day we'll run into eachother. Know that I am praying now for you also...and about the bald head thing, I like it..its cute. Thats a good thing that has came out of all of this. *smile* Stay strong..

Hey,
I didn't know Travis very well, but I saw him here and there because I'm a member of the LHS marching band. He has a wonderful talent playing the drums and I always watch the drummers because I was almost always close to the front line. I hope that everything is going well and I'm extremely happy to know that you have set up this site. It makes me smile to read the good things that are currently going on. I'm excited for you, Travis, that you're getting a hair cut. I hope you get the hair cut of your dreams.

Good luck with everything, I'll be sure to check the site from time to time!

With love,
Jennifer

Oh man, what a ride it's been. I could never really know what you're going through, but I know that it hasn't really been the best year for you. But you just have to hold strong and know that there are people at Lamphere and people in your family supporting you. Have to hold strong for the people that you care about and just hope that things go good. You will be fine, I know that. Just know that I'm hopin that one of these days I will see you and you will be all right. Thank you for all your support with the band thing too. Hi Travis,
I have many good memories of you in Communications class. It sounds like you have been through quite a journey with your ALL. I was on the same chemotherapy and steroids when I was being treated with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (a cousin of leukemia)so I truly understand that some days are better than others. I know that with the support of your wonderful family and friends you will come through this and experience better days. Even in the midst of the diagnosis,
treatment and side effects I found it helpful not to lose track of my many blessings so that is my wish for you. I am sending lots of prayers and positive energy your way....can you feel them? Take care, Mrs. Shanaman

Hi Travis. I found your website from some of the other Caring Bridge sites. My daughter Gemma has ALL. She was diagnosed in September 2002 and is now in long term maintenance. We live in Perth, Western Australia - which is a long way from you, but I am American and have family in Colorado, Oregon and Minnesota. Gemma is only going to be 3 in April, so we have a lot of different experiences than dealing with a teenage boy on steroids, but she still craves cheese and chips (aussie for french fries!) and bacon and eggs... We are praying for you in Perth - keep fighting - you'll beat it!!! Come say hi to Gemma - her caring bridge page is www.caringbridge.org/wa/gemma (although it's been a long time since I've updated! things are pretty uneventful in LTM!) Hello Travis--Your teacher Ms. MacDonald has put me in touch with you. I live in East Lansing but grew up in Warren and am a 1978 Graduate of Cousino High School--WAY before your time!!! I see that you are in the marching band--so you're used to "taking the field" at halftime. Now, however, you find yourself on "the battlefield" for your health. Just as you are surrounded by fellow band members when you are marching, envision yourself surrounded by fellow warriors in your battle against ALL. Certainly you feel the brunt of the fight, but I am honored to be called in along side you, your family and friends to pray for your complete healing. You are not alone. I will be praying for you.--Celeste (Conte) Paget

Hi Travis! Ms Macdonald told me about you through other caringbridge sites. Please know that there are people all around the world, some of whom you'll never meet, that care deeply about you and will pray for your body to heal. A friend of mine's son is also battling cancer and would probably enjoy sharing stories with you--you can visit him at www.caringbridge.org/al/coryswebpage. I'll be praying for you in your journey, as well as, praying for your family. I know teenage boys can act goofy at times, but please, please go give your mother a hug and tell her that you love her! Travis & Family, GREAT news! As you know, my health classes wanted to organize a blood drive in your honor - being that 8th graders at too young to donate themselves. I've been in contact with your principals at LHS (Mr. B & Mr. C)...sounds like characters from "The Cat in the Hat" doesn't it!? Anyway, plans are being made to have the March 17th blood drive at LHS in your honor! I'll keep you all posted as Mr. C gets back to me with details. In the mean time, I've been checking other entries at Caring Bridges hoping to find other teens experiencing what you are going through. Just thought that since they are walking the same road to recovery, you might want to get in touch and share "experiences." I've found 3 teens you might be interested in contacting - hope it's ok that they're all females and all gorgeous! Hope you don't mind. lol!!! Try caringbridges.org/sd/gemma and mn/maddie and nj/jillran Hope this lifts your spirits! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Mrs. MacDonald

Hi Travis,

I met your mom on the ALL listserve and came by to say "Hi". Sorry to hear about the nausea - I hope that gets better soon (I'm sure you do too!).
You and your brothers sure are a handsome bunch - I'm sure your mom is very proud of all of you.

Hello - a from cold frosty Ottawa Canada.

Dear Travis and family,

As always, it is good of you, and your Mom, to keep us updated with how the treatments are going. We always have you in our prayers in the hopes that it helps you deal with all that you are having to endure. We are glad to see that your schooling is able to continue, as possible, so that you don't get too far behind your peers. Hopefully, before too long, you will be able to return to school full time and take back your rightful place in the band. Make sure Mom uploads a pic of you soon with your hair returning. :)

Forgive me for asking, but please add Roy's son, Timothy, to your own prayers as he prepares to leave all that he knows and loves for an extended period of time in support of our country overseas. Please pray that God keeps him safe and sound and returns him to us ASAP.

All our love,

Danette and family

TRAV....HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER TODAY. JUST READ YOUR JOURNAL. DON'T YOU WONDER IF THE "CURE" IS AS BAD AS THE DISEASE ITSELF? AREN'T THE DRUGS SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL "BETTER"? I'M SO SORRY THAT YOU'RE HAVING TO GO THRU ALL OFF THAT. AND NOW PREDNISONE! I'M ASTHMATIC AND I HATE TO BE ON THAT STUFF! I FEEL LIKE I'M HUNGRY ALL THE TIME AND FOOD JUST SEEMS TO TASTE SOOOOO MUCH BETTER! ALTHOUGH I'M SURE GAINING WEIGHT IS THE LEAST OF WHAT YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT! SO, DOES MY SISTER KNOW PEOPLE IN EVERY STATE? GEEZE! I'M READING THE GUESTBOOK AND THE WOMAN'S NAME IS EVERYWHERE! SHE DOES HAVE A TENDENCY TO "GET INVOLVED", DOESN'T SHE? WELL, JUST WANTED TO CHECK IN AND SAY HELLO AND TO SEND YOU SOME LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM UP NORTH. ANY WAY I CAN SEND YOU SOME OF THIS SNOW WHILE I'M AT IT? WHEN I CAN SIT IN MY CAR, LOOK OUT THE WINDOW AND HAVE THE SNOW BE UP TO THE BOTTOM OF MY WINDOW, WELL THAT'S A LITTLE MUCH! SOME MORNINGS, WE ARE ACTUALLY TRAPPED IN THE HOUSE! IT SNOWS SO MUCH AT NIGHT THAT THERE'S 2-3 FEET OF SNOW HOLDING THE DOORS ALL SHUT! I'D LIKE TO SHOOT THAT SILLY GROUNDHOG! SO, FEEL BETTER! WE'RE KEEPING THE GOOD THOUGHT AND YOU ( AND THE FAMILY) IN OUR PRAYERS. GOOD LUCK WITH TUESDAY'S DR. APPT. AND YET ANOTHER NEW DRUG! WITH ANY LUCK, THIS ONE WON'T MAKE YOU SO SICK TO YOUR STOMACH! WE CAN ONLY HOPE!

Hi, you don't know me, but I after reading this page, I am truly touched. It's people like you that keep our country alive and caring. Perhaps without sickness and disease, we wouldn't be able to show the world how much we care for each other. There's really only one thing that you can do, that being trust in God. He did this for a reason, maybe you don't know it now, but in time you will. Stay true to yourself and your family, and fight hard. May God bless you and your family.

It's always devastating to hear when someone has cancer. A really good friend of ours is currently dealing with cancer as well. We don't know how difficult it is to go through all the treatments and surgeries or how much pain he (and you) must be going through, but I can see in his eyes how bad he wants to overcome it. This may not mean much, but all I can say is that I believe God puts us through "tests" in order to better ourselves. It may not seem fair and it may not make sense at all, but God does it for a reason. No need to question what HE does, we just have to deal with it the best that we can. Remember that God doesn't give us anything we can't handle. Believe in yourself, believe in God, and always keep a smile on your face. And, always be positive...being positive and optimistic never hurt anyone. I don't want to sound like I'm lecturing you, but just want to let you know it's worth listening to adults (they do know something we may not know)...your parents and your mentors...especially Caryn MacDonald. She has a lot to teach people. Trust me. She's made a positive impact in my life. Well, be brave and know that you are thought of and cared for by many people (even if you've never met them).

Dear Norville Family,
I read with great interest your web-site and want you to know how it touched me. My sister-in-law, Caryn MacDonald told me about you when I saw her this weekend and I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since. Today when I opened my e-mail and saw she sent your website I was so anxious to go to it! First, of all I have to say you are a beautiful family! (Good looking boys! All of you!) Secondly, please know how much you are thought of and prayed for. I believe in miracles. I've experienced 2 of my very own. I too have had a serious health issue, but I always had this feeling I'd be okay and I'd beat it. I did! I will celebrate my 8 year anniversay of my liver transplant this May 21, 2004. I consider my my encounter with liver disease an "inconvenience". It truly changed my outlook on life. I thank the Lord each and every day for my health and pray that I will never take it for granted and now I will be praying for you. God bless and keep you in his care.
By the way, my 2nd miracle was the adoption of our son, Ian who is now 4 years old.

Travis, I want you to know that we have been and will continue to pray for you and your health. You are so brave to have to face this disease at such a young age. I work at SBC and we have groups of people all over the country who are lifting you and your family up daily in prayer. They have turned in your names at their churches and they are praying for you too. Even though we have never met, I want you to know you are loved, and we are there for you. You have a wonderful family that stays close to you and you now have an extended family all over the country that loves you. Phil

Travis (and family); I just received an e-mail from my sister (Caryn Roe-MacDonald) telling me all about Travis' condition. "Lymphoblastic", good Lord, sounds like something from Star Wars!! Am very glad to hear that you are getting your hair back, was sorry to hear that your latest course of treatment is making you sick to your stomach, tho'. And so, you and your brother are drummers in the High School band? I was a majorette and Caryn was a Cheerleader when we were in H.S.!! And, have you ever watched the movie "Drumline"? It was on HBO about a month or so ago...you would LOVE it!! I watched it every time it came on, the drum competitions were awesome!! Well, take good care of yourselves and know that my church group up here in the Great White North has put you on their prayer list, so-we will be checking in on your progress!!

I want to be there in person to witness this...the dueling drummers...Tim & Travis!! That will indeed be an incredible Kodak moment!!!! Can't tell you how much I appreciate your journal entries - It allows all of us who care so very much about what you are all going through to keep updated on Travis' progress without having to bother you with phone calls and emails. Keep the "good news" flowing and we'll do the same with our prayers!!! And please tell Greg that I'm sorry I forgot his name in the greeting of my last message! What was I thinking?!?!? Dear Travis and family,

What a fabulous site!! Thank you for sharing the updates with everyone. It was great to see some pictures of all of you. Please add more pictures and updates as time permits. Hang in there Travis!! It sounds like things are going well in your treatment. You are a strong boy and will come through this fine. Our thoughts and prayers are with you often. The virtual family reunion is expanding. :)

Kim and Enola - Know that we think of you often. We know it is not always an easy road when dealing with children who have special needs, whether it be medical or otherwise. Keep faith that all will work out in the end, and that with the love and support of family you can handle this.

Tim - You are such a wonderful brother to Travis!! I'm sure he appreciates all you have done, by being there for him. Be strong Tim, and have fun as much as you can. Your band picture made me relive my own band days. You wouldn't play the clarinet by any chance would you? Just teasing as that is what I played.

Great "talking" to all of you!!

Great website! I'm glad your Mom was able to set it up for you, as Alex will agree, it makes things a lot easier for family and friends to keep updated with your progress without your Mom having to be on the phone all the time! Hey Travis - that was pretty clever how your Mom was able to use one picture to show you with hair and without! Just kidding - I guess losing your hair is one way of assuring that people can tell you and your brother Tim apart. (All kidding aside you're both very handsome!) Take care, Kalli and Alex

Travis, Your mom did a great job setting up this webpage for you. My daughter Amanda, 13, was dx with ALL in 2002. She missed almost all of her sixth grade and currently is in the seventh grade. She still continues to have her good weeks and bad weeks. On her bad weeks she does have a homebound teacher come to the house and this has helped her keep up with her studies.
