Welcome to Hawk's web page. Please remember to sign the guest book and let him know you care.

Our hope is that you will learn and be blessed by the experiences our son had had to endure in his battles living with Tuberous sclerosis.

Tuberous sclerosis is a genetic condition. Hawk inherited his from his father. There are two genes associated wit it and appropriately they are named TSC1 and TSC2.

TSC can effect any and sometimes all of the major organs in the body with unusual growths called tubers(or tumors). These are non cancerous, but can reak havoc on the normal functions of the organs.

For Hawk, the organs effected are his heart, brain , skin, and kidneys. On 2-13-2007 Hawk had surgery to remove a tuber from his brain that was causing uncontrollable seizures. There are others in his brain that cause behavior problems but we hope they will not cause any more seizure activity. We Visit the cardiologist and nephrologist annually to be sure there are no problems with his ehart and kidneys.

Hawk is in ninth grade this year.

Hawk is an amazing young man and despite the challenges his TSC has placed in our lives, we are so blessed to be loved by him. He teaches us everyday that there is so much more to life than any "healthy" person could ever imagine. His love and hard working spirit are such an inspiration as he overcomes the devastation that TSC can cause!

Hawk, You are my Hero!!

I want to also send a shout out to Hawk's brothers who have embraced the challenges before them concerning Hawk's disabilities with such grace and love. Bear, Wolf, Raven, you guys are so great, Hawk is blessed to have you for brothers!

Where does the time go? Since my last update Hawk has graduated high school. He has gone on to do some college at a community college. We have moved from Wyoming to Tennessee. He is working evenings at Home Depot as a freight associate and has been with the company for over a year. Currently he is enrolling in Full Sail University online to learn game graphics and programming stuff that is way above my head.
Medically he has been stable. We continue to not see any seizures since surgery in 2007 ( except for one after a physical trauma to his hand in 2015) He was following up in Denver and is not due for his follow up scans yet but we are looking forward to him seeing Dr. John Bissler at LeBoenheur hospital in Memphis when he is due. Dr Bissler is another world class amazing TSC specialist and we are excited to work closely with him regarding Hawks future medical follow up.
As an adult male we will now focus on monitoring his kidneys closely. Hawk still has some struggles with his emotions ( a result of his brain surgery and brain lesions) He still has some learning difficulties as well as some social awkwardness. In true form, he never lets it get him down or make him stop. He takes life by the horns and charges forward in ways that astound me as his mom.
