Chiara was born on July 15, 2002 and was diagnosed with JMML,Juvenile Myelomonocitic leukemia, when she was 6 months old.
No one in the family matches her so she had to wait about one year for a donor to be found.We now have found an imperfect match (5/6)
Consider to become a bone marrow donor for all the kids waiting for a match to start living again.
Go to a blood bank, save a life!
This page was created to update those who care about Chiara, because she doesn`t like it when I spend too much time on the phone.She is enrolled in the North Ameican protocol for JMML. She had completed two courses of FTI, two rounds of chemo and she just had her spleen removed. She had a cord blood transplant at UCLA on the 1st of February 2005.

Tuesday, November 11, 2008 11:59 PM CST This update was long time overdue.
Chiara is doing well. She is going to First grade and enjoying every second of it although if you ask her how is it she will answer with a serious face:
"Boring!"
We are still in the process of updating her immunizations as our move to Kansas slowed us down in that field.We couldn`t find a doctor we trusted.We are now feeling better in that area and get things going.
Chiara still is, and always will be, battling the fact of her splenectomy. Every time she comes down with a fever she needs to be hospitalized for and IV of antibiotics, like this morning, in fact.
I had in mind to update this page much sooner but I am facing the problem of some inappropriate entries in the guest book that I am not able to delete.
I requested help from the caringbridge organization to solve it and as soon as the guestbook will be nice again I will update some more for those few that are still reading Chiara's page.
