Clare Schmidt, 1998 - 2005
These pages tell the story of Clare's fight with leukemia and the story of the community that grew to support her during her relapse, her bone marrow transplant and finally, her death.
While this is a story that has a sad, peaceful end, it is also a story filled with hope. We are leaving our journal and guestbook up as reference, a place where other people who are taking a journey like ours, or people who know someone who is taking a journey like ours, can also find hope during their dark times.

Journal
Thursday, August 6, 2009 5:04 PM CDT These entries have really just devolved into quick updates that we are still going, and that we appreciate those of you who still check in every once in a while.
Phoebe will start high school this year, which is so unbelievable, or at least it is to her parents. We just finished a major renovation to our house, and are so pleased with everything about it from the new kitchen to the finished basement.
We are still going, still missing Clare every single day, and trying to find the peace in that. We appreciate all of you so much for your present and past support.
Like all the middle-agers, evidently, I'm on Facebook, so find me there for more recent updates on our lives.
Karen
