Catie Lynne Thrift July 24, 1995 - November 27, 2004
This website was begun by Catie's cousin, Cheryl Booth, to update friends about Catie's health. Now it is being kept to honor her and so she will not be forgotten.
Catie was diagnosed on June 25, 2002 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. She endured 4 surguries, 18 months of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation, and everything that was asked of her. She was treated at Childrens Hospital National Medical Center, Georgetown Hospital, National Institute of Health and St. Judes Childrens Reasearch Hospital. Catie lost her battle with cancer at home with her parents, brothers Johnny and Jesse and sister Janie two days after Thanksgiving 2004. She was 9 years old.

Thursday, July 24, 2008 5:09 PM CDT Today is Catie's 13th birthday. She was always so excited about her birthday. She loved the presents, but also looked forward to getting up in the morning and finding her birthday donuts and balloons. We always teased her that she was so excited about coming into the world that she couldn't wait for her due date - she rushed in unexpectedly 5 weeks early. How she giggled about that. I can't help but wonder what she would be like as she became a "teenager", before she got sick she once told Grandma and Grandaddy that she couldn't wait until she grew up because she wanted to be like Britany Spears. Grandma and Grandaddy did not think that was an appropriate goal!
Her last birthday celebrated with us was her 9th. Janie was in Michigan with friends. I remember thinking that Catie would be sad that Janie missed her ACTUAL birthday. But no, Catie was so thrilled to celebrate it with HER friends! Though she couldn't wait for Janie to get home, so she could show off her recent addition - Rosa II the guiena pig. Catie loved sharing her pet care horrors with her friends at Georgetown Pediatric Hem-oc!
We celebrated our 4th birthday without her today. It is not the same for us. We heard her giggles as she caught the 13 balloons that we kissed and sent up to her.
Happy 13th Birthday Sweetie - We love and miss you Mommy, Daddy, Johnny, Jesse and Janie
