Catie Lynne Thrift July 24, 1995 - November 27, 2004

This website was begun by Catie's cousin, Cheryl Booth, to update friends about Catie's health. Now it is being kept to honor her and so she will not be forgotten.

Catie was diagnosed on June 25, 2002 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. She endured 4 surguries, 18 months of chemo, 6 weeks of radiation, and everything that was asked of her. She was treated at Childrens Hospital National Medical Center, Georgetown Hospital, National Institute of Health and St. Judes Childrens Reasearch Hospital. Catie lost her battle with cancer at home with her parents, brothers Johnny and Jesse and sister Janie two days after Thanksgiving 2004. She was 9 years old.

This has been a hard month....we relive in our hearts that last month of Catie's life. She was so nervous about going to St Judes, missing Johnny, Jesse and Janie - and also excited to be away with Mommy and Daddy by herself for the first time. She chose her gifts for them so carefully; Memphis Grizzlies shirt for Johnny (she knew he'd scream that the Wizards could beat them!), St Judes baseball hat for Jesse (because he is never without one!) and a black rhinestone HOPE baseball hat for Janie (because she knew Janie would NEVER wear the pink one - so she bought that for herself!) She couldn't wait to see everyone again.....

That last Thanksgiving will never be forgotten. For the first time ever, dinner was not at Mom's. Everyone came to our house. We had a family sleepover for 3 days. Catie watched movies, played fusion frenzy (her early christmas gift from Jesse)and was with us. She slipped away from us 4 years ago today. Life will never be the same for us. I can't describe the pain and loss. We miss her every minute. We talk about her constantly - remembering stories, laugh and cry a lot. We have many "Catie moments" and pray that we always will.
