It was so great to see you guys in NY. I wish we could have spent a little more time together. As you can see Chris' headaches are very unpredictable. I felt so bad when we had to rush back to the RMH. Well I hope you guys were able to go on the tram ride anyway. One of these days Chris will get to go on it. Tell Amelia Chris and his mom said hi. We love you guys! Take care and God Bless!

Just checking to see how you're doing. It was great seeing you in NYC. We'll have to try to do it again in Annapolis. School starts soon and the craziness begins, but maybe we'll be able to squeeze a trip to Starbucks or the pool, or pumpkin patch. Starbucks is my favorite, but the kids might not agree.

Hello Hantskes! I stumbled upon your website this morning while searching for something else, how strange our world works sometimes. I just wanted to drop a note to let you know that your family is often in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you are all doing well, and I hope to continue reading that Amelia is happy and healthy.

Hello Hantske's! I can't believe it has been this long since I've posted a hello to you. Where does time go?? But I never, ever forget you or stop praying for you. I hope this finds you all continuing to do well.

Our youngest daughter Meghan, the art major, was hired by an engineering firm in DC and her contract is with the Navy - when people ask what she does, we tell them she makes torpedoes look interesting. : ) She'll be moving in to her new apartment next week - near Georgetown. And Michele received her masters in social work last week from Wheelock College in Boston - she will be having her second interview tomorrow at Dana Farber for a position in pediatric oncology - survivor's clinic. She also moves in to her apartment next week......so we'll be one weekend in Boston and the next in DC!

Hope you have a wonderful week! love, sylvia (aunt Patricia's friend)

I'm so happy Amelia is doing so well. She has grown so much along with her sister and brother. I'm sure you are busy with all the kids activities. David is doing well (31/2 years cancer free). He will graduate next Dec and is going on to medical school. He just recently got engaged to Lindsay who he has dated 6 yrs. Mat is going to college also. David is back from Iraq and doing ok. I'm busy as always trying to keep up with everyone around me like all Moms are. Do you have a trip to NY planned? I would love to see you some time. You and Amelia are my first good memories of Sloan. I used to love to watch how shy she was but she always kept her eyes on David. May God Bless your family.

Dearest little Amelia,
How happy we were to find out about you and your courage and your journey back to good health. It gives us such a sense of hope for our precious little granddaughter Nina Grace. We can't wait for her to be a healthy girl, swimming and going to school!! Even tho we will be pretty old by then. Your grandpa went to high school with Nina's grampy and also to the Naval Academy with him. Also Nina's Daddy is an excellent sailor and has sailed many times in the Newport to Bermuda race.!!! Also Westpac! so you two have much in common!! Also Nina has three cousins who are competitive swimmers in No. Virginia!! They are Drew,15, Ryan almost 14, and Cameron 11 Santoro!! Nina loves her sister Leila, 7 and her brothers Peter, 10 and Jack, almost 14!! We love Dr. Kuschner too! We will pray for your continued good health!!! Fondly Bob and Betty Pirrmann

Hey Allison,
Thanks for directing me to her webpage. I will be thinking hard about you while you await some news. I do pray, but sometimes it is with considerable doubt-I'm not sure I'm at the top of His list!! And we really need to try harder to get the girls together in 2007. Grace asks frequently, perhaps next week we can organize something. Grace and Mia both enjoy her. Take it easy and you all are in our thoughts.

Hi Allison and Amelia. I'm not sure if you'll remember us, but our kids were both going through 3F8 treatment together. I don't think Madeline (Maddie) and Amelia shared a room together, but we would chat in the mornings. I found Amelia's website and I am so glad that she is doing well. I'm sure the MRI will show nothing abnormal, and all this is related to the growth hormone. I do keep up with Amelia and her everyday life. I loved the Raggedy Ann costume! It was perfect for her. I will be praying for you while you wait for the results of the MRI.

Maddie's website is www.patmedia.net/benoff where you can read about her battle with neuroblastoma.

Dear Allison,
I know you must be a nervous wreck, but this could be caused by many, many other things. I'm glad to read that the cat scan and MIBG were negative, so it's not something obvious. I'll be praying that it's something that can be easily taken care of. I'll try to call you this weekend. Are you going to NYC for the MRI or doing it in Baltimore? It stinks that you have to wait a week for the scan. Keep the faith that everything will be fine!

Allison, I hope those headaches go away now that Amelia has stopped taking the growth hormones. I know it is such a worry and there is nothing to do but wait it out and try to keep a grip on your sanity. I so relate to your remarks about the accountant, etc. Moving this summer was hard for me--there were boxes I had never unpacked from NYC, and some of it I just put into new boxes. It's such a huge chasm in a family's life, you should feel good about making progress.

Hi Allison...great news about Amelia! Think about her all the time....think of all of you really. We were with your aunt Patricia and the family this weekend. We want to be adopted by them! : ) Well....we just consider us all related. Not sure if you knew about Tim's hair...it was long!...and since last February I've been telling him that we're taking him up to Penn State with us for THON, the 48 hr dance marathon for children with cancer - our Meghan, who is a friend of Tim's, is real involved in THON and they do Locks of Love that weekend. Our Michele donated her hair last year. Well on Friday night Tim handed me a box.....inside was a 25" pony tail to donate to Locks of Love. He's a dear.

Know you are always in our prayers....and most especially for all to go well with the growth hormone. Take care... sending hugs your way. love, Sylvia

Hello Allison! I will share a story with you...Michele was in first grade and Meghan was in nursery school.... I'd leave for work when Victor got home and I'd be back home close to midnight...one particular day I wasn't feeling too well...took the girls to school, came home and crashed...and slept right through picking up Meghan from nursery school! I had even set an alarm because I was afraid that might happen ...and NEVER heard the alarm ....it was the ringing of the phone - before answering machine, thank goodness, and who knows how long the phone was ringing before I heard it! I remember it like it was yesterday....and so does Meghan, and she's a junior in college! : ) Don't worry, I won't share this story with Amelia!

Oh, and hearing about the request for a puppy! Meghan again!...her Godfather, my brother, always promised Meghan that one day he would get her a dog. I always said I didn't want a puppy...just could not devote the time to training, etc. One day Stephen calls...he has a dog.... already trained...oh heavens! Inky was trained, but she was the dog from h---! The first night she was here though, during prayers, Meghan said "God, it only took you seven years to answer me"! Inky was still a lot of work as she thought she was the boss...but she's come a long way in her 14 yrs with us....she's now known as the "old lady" and we keep reassuring her that we'll take care of her til the end. I can't wait to hear what you'll name your dog! : )

And Allison, you're a mom, so you will never stop worrying. BUT...I know you know that just as much as you worry...that's how much we're praying. Not a day goes by that all of you are not thought of. Amelia and Evelyn are up on the prayer board of our refrigerator.

...the story of your little friend Sylvia and the moon brought back a memory of our cousin Michael's nephew.... he was in the car with Michael and he was looking out the window...it was night time...and he said "uncle Michael, why does the moon keep following us?" : )

Our family is getting all ready for THON, Penn State's 48hr dance maraTHON for children with cancer. Our Meghan is real involved. We've hosted two "canning" trips this year...18 students stayed with us when they came to the Lehigh Valley for canning - standing at an intersection collecting any loose change from those who wanted to give...the last trip the generous people of the Lehigh Valley donated $3300.00 in loose change in six hours! Meghan is a moraler this year, responsible for keeping her assigned dancer awake. And Michele will be donating her hair at THON! If you go to www.thon.org you can watch a promo video - really is a moving experience.

Have a wonderful weekend! Know our prayers surround you.
love, the other Sylvia (aunt Pat's friend)

Hi Allison,

What a lovely picture of Kathryn and Amelia! I'm sorry to hear the shingles linger. Yuck. I have been thinking about you a lot lately - - I talked with my parents last night, and like me, they send their greetings to you and Robert, and the three little musketeers at your house, and to your parents too. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Amelia as you get her port and counts checked.

We took Sylvia for her longest winter adventure today -- a big walk with friends through a nearby park along the Mississippi River. We pulled her along in a little sled, and she loved it. She especially loved that the halfmoon was out at 5:30 pm, and she hooted at it for most of the way, craning her neck to watch it, no matter which way we were walking -- very fun.

Love, Carolyn

Hi Allison -- Thank you so much for the birthday call, and for this new news you've posted. I'm thrilled to hear about your happy adventures at DisneyWorld and all the good scan results. And I'm so bummed to hear of your encounters with insurance letters and shingles. Yuck. Weeks ago, I started to make a donation of lunches, and got interrupted, and never got back to it -- so I'll go do that now! Jonathan and I are thinking of you, and my parents and Anne and Kevin all send their greetings, too. Love always - Carolyn

Hi Allison,

What great photos - of Amelia preparing to collect hugs, and of the kids on the beach and at the zoo! And how fun to read these posts and find another Sylvia out there....Our 7 1/2-month-old Sylvia's new trick today was to sit up, lean forward, get onto all fours, and roll over and give a great big smile, all in one fell swoop. Crawling is just around the bend....

Hope all's well with each of you all. And I hope that your Mom had a good visit with Baby Evelyn and her family.

We think of you all the time --

Oh how cool! You met my very special friends Pat, Linda and Ryan Connolly!!! Just wanted you to know that we have been thinking of you and praying for you over the past week as you were preparing for updated scans. Hope all went well!

Aunt Pat, Tim, and grandmother have been to visit with me this past week. I just love that crew! I keep teasing Tim that we need to donate those beautiful locks! I told him that even if we cut off the 10", his hair would still be long....and wouldn't a very special child just love having that silky hair of his?? Michele and Meghan said we're going to drag him out to Penn State's THON with us next year - that's when they are donating their hair.

Surely hope the weather is nicer there than it is here!

Sending hugs to each of you. Love, Sylvia

Allison, what a great picture of Amelia! She is such a sweetie and she looks great. We hope you get great news on the scans next month.
Sylvia wrote to me bout your sister and sent Evelyn's website. What a precious soul she is--absolutely gorgeous and so happy looking. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of loving one so little and dear and knowing she was not meant to stay long in this world. She has touched so many hearts in her short time.
Take care of yourself, you are a wonderful Mom. It is still one day at a time here at our house, but things are slowly getting back to normal--whatever that is!

Hello Allison! Regarding your Make A Wish trip to Disney, though you might be staying at Give Kids The World, and have many things planned, there is a wealth of information on the site below.

http://allearsnet.com

We love Disney, though with both girls in college it will be awhile til we get back, but we still have a "Disney Party" for any family and/or friends who are planning a trip (dinner with Disney balloons, plates, etc.., and of course an ice cream cake with their favorite character and of course an autograph book - highly recommended to have BEFORE you leave!) - it's just as much fun for us as it is for them! We have planned all of our trips with info from this site, including downloading the menus of the different restaurants so as not to waste time deciding on what to eat when we get there!!!....yes, Victor is just a little bit obsessed!! heheee!! : )

Talk to you soon! Love, Sylvia

Pretty soon they will be home from college and I can't wait!....ah yes!...lots of wash, messy bathrooms, everyone at the dinner table.... yes Allison, those days will come!...before you know it! : )

We have been praying for you for quite some time and I was soooo excited to see a connection to you on precious cousin Evelyn's site! I can't wait to tell her about this because I remember when I first heard you were going to Sloan I e-mailed Jen to see if she could connect with you! It is a small, small world. I hope your family is well. Are you going to be coming to NY anymore? If so, when? Well, our prayers are with you. Give Amelia a hug and kiss from David and I. Just tell her it is from David, then she will be happy!! Love, Kim and David

I am so happy to hear about your scans. Chris' scans were all clear as well. We are all able to relax a little now. At least until the next scans. We missed you guys in New York. I am happy for you that you didn't have to be there.

Hey there Miss Amelia...

I just wanted to let you know that the kids and staff at Russian Jack Elementary raised $200 in the "Chains of Caring" campaign this month to help fight Children's Cancer!!! A couple of our students along with a few staff members went to our local hospital, Providence, to present our chain and the funds to them.

I will get pictures to you ASAP. Thank you sweet Amelia for helping to make a difference in our lives.

Lots of hugs all the way from Alaska. LIVESTRONG!!

All is well at RMDH, I do miss my little princess but I have all the beautiful photos you gave when you were here. Hugs and kisses, Miss Joanne

Hei du Sis and Lil' Niece...

Aunt Lisa thought she'd stop by and say "Hello!" and to say that both of you have tons of thoughts and prayers headed your way for great results. Amelia's picture and story are posted at my school and the kids are really going out to help others. (I'll send ya a picture) It's amazing and so heartwarming. If I can't be with you there, then I can do my part here. Everyone wishes they could meet Amelia in person! We think of you all often and miss you bunches. Hugs to all of you and good vibes always!!

Love...Aunt Lisa
