Sophia Marie Born To Life September 1 2000 Born Into Eternal Life December 23 2004 For My Daughter, My Gift
Here on your screen you meet Sophia Marie. A young child with cancer, she is no longer a baby.
I gave her love, I gave her life and I gave her her name. Into our lives came this Beast, it will never be the same.
She came to Floating last August very ill, that is true. Dr. Wolf said,"With this medicine I will give her back to you.
One might ask of God; "What did I do to deserve this?" But it is not God's way, He brings love, creates life and from Him it is our GIFT.
God, mother, nurse and Doctor we all work as a team. With Sophia as our captain from this fight we emerge winners, all scans will be clean.
With love and a prayer very soon you will know. God bless these seeds of life that have been planted, now watch Sophia's garden grow! Our little girl was just under 2 when she was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma on August 14 2002. She had never complained of any pain and was a happy girl. She had a very slight bruise on her left eyelid and a week later on the other, I knew then it was bad. Never in my wildest dreams could I have immagined something this horrible. A tumor the size of a grapefruit forcing its way through my baby's body, tumors in the orbits of both eyes and bone marrow loaded with cancer, and not a single complaint.
Sophia received 5 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the tumor in her abdomen, two autologus stem cell transplants, radiation to her tumor sight and her orbits, experimental antibody treatment at Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in NYC, and 6 months of accutane (cys-retinoic acid). She was finally off treatment in December 2003.
Saldy Sophia relapsed in March 2004 with several lesions in both legs. She has had 6 rounds of various types of chemotherapy and will have an Allogeneic Bone Marrow transplant the first week of September in hopes to save her life. There is no treatment known for relapse so we are praying for a miracle. She is my inspiration. We are all very lucky to be living in an age where we do not have to sit and watch our children leave us. We have a chance to fight for them. May god always watch out for all the little angels, and help Sophia's garden grow.
(Added 1/25/2005) Our little girl gained her angel wings on December 23,2004. Her liver was heavily involved with Neuroblastoma and she was unable to fight any longer. She died very peacefully in her daddy's arms. God bless our Sophia. Please continue to follow our journey through these difficult times and pray for our continued strength.
GIVE BLOOD
In Memory of Sophia Marie Donnarumma
Please take the time to give the gift of life in memory of Sophia Marie Donnarumma. We were blessed with more time with our Sweet Sophia Marie due the generous donations of Platelets and Red Cells given by friends, family and strangers. Sophia endured many very high doses of chemotherapy that without Platelet and Red Cell donations she may have suffered dangerous life threatening complications. Give a gift to a stranger that may save their life as so many other strangers gave to Sophia.
To check for donor eligibility, please refer to www.newenglandblood.org or call Eileen Hughes at the American Red Cross at 781-910-8012 with questions.

Sophia
Sweet Sophia: Our time too brief our struggle, together lost a giant’s courage in a small, fragile frame but God had other plans in mind – as you said, “Maybe someone needs you more.” And yes, I know: Our separation is temporary, our love eternal – bonded not in blood, but in spirit. But oh, how I miss your hugs; the kindness in your tiny voice, the love in your beautiful eyes-
Please don’t worry – I’m home now where there is no darkness and pain is no more than a faded memory. I am with family, those who love me and…I am still with you.
Just listen – I am the beat of your heart and in every breath you take. You will find me in your laughter and at the times you choose to sing. I am on the wind; amongst the patter of rain. Listen closely and there I am – with you.
Just look – I am a morning’s ray of light and the first snowflake of winter. You will find me in the shadows of a dance and in the smiles of those who love you. I am amongst the stars; on the sparkling sea. Look carefully and there I am – with you.
Just feel – I am the embrace of an old friend and the tickle of a secret’s whisper. You will find me on a gentle, summer’s breeze and in the sun’s warm hands upon your face. I am the flutter of an angel’s wings; perfect, at peace. Feel with your heart and there I am – with you always.

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 7:55 AM CDT Good Morning Jesus, I was hoping you might help me for it's a very spercial day.
My sweet little girl is there with you and she was born today.
A party may be nice with cake and ice cream too,
Gather all her special friends and presents because that's what I would do.
But the most important thing that you could do for me,
A hug, a kiss and tell her mommy loves and misses her Sweet Sophia Marie!
Happy 10th Birthday baby, we love you!
