Sean Michael Hanson

Sean-age 15 yrs.

Welcome to Seans web page. It has been provided to keep
people updated about Seans condition as he battles Neuroblastoma, a rare and devastating childhood cancer. Sean has stage 3 neuroblastoma with favorable biology which places him in an Intermediate Risk catagory. Sean is a triplet and was born on October 8th, 2002. His sisters are Kathleen and Heather. He has a 18yr. old brother Scott Andrew and an 33yr. old sister Tiffany. He was diagnosed on September 9th, 2003. He had an incomplete resection October 10th, 2003 at Sloan Kettering in N.Y. My Little Sean lost his Papa-(Daddy) suddenly on May 10, 2004. Sean's page has become a family page at times. What happens to one of us effects all of the others. Sean is currently doing great and the Doctors feel his residual tumor is beginning to regress!

On June 22, 2005, Sean had surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering to re-implant his left ureter. September 9th, 2015 was 12 years from the date of diagnosis of Neuroblastoma. He looks and feels fantastic. Sean's 2/06 MRI shows "Mild improvement" and no evidence of recurrence and his Renal Scan was good. 8/06 MRI-"probable scar tissue", Renal U/S is without change. Urine for catecholamines (secreted by the tumor) was normal. He saw the long term effects folks in February.
8/07 MRI-No evidence of disease recurrence or progression when compared to 8/06. Stable minor contracted L3-L4 neural foraminal soft tissue most compatible with treated disease-scar. 02/08 MRI-Minimal residual infiltrative changes within the L L3-4 neural is stable and compatible with treated disease/scar..Urine catecholamines HVA 9 (<17) VMA 6 (<8) 3/09-"MRI: Mild residual enhancement in the region of the left lumbar neuroforamina as prev noted and could reflect post-radiation (which he didn't have) and post-surgical changes." His HVA is 7 and VMA 5, (I think). He isn't exactley NED as there is still a little "something" showing up on scans, probably scar! It has not grown or changed and so we leave it alone! (Mom keeps hoping it will just disappear!)

Hello Friends, Sean is now 15 years old. He plays football, soccer, lacrosse. He ski's, swims and sails. We continue to be involved in raising awareness for childhood cancer through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, BeanNB, Run for Charlotte, The Bat Run, etc. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers. Love, Ellen
