Marshall & Amelia's Place...

These pictures were taken on March 3rd 2007.

Welcome to Marshall And Amelia's Place. Marshall and Amelia suffer from a rare, terminal genetic disease, Fanconi Anemia. This is their journey thru everyday life. Thanks for checking in to see how we are doing. Hope you enjoy.
Marshall had an unrelated bone marrow transplant on 9/18/03 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To his donor, there are no words to express the gratitude that we feel. You helped save our sons life!!

Amelia is currently fine with her counts but, she too will need a transplant in Minneapolis. We will let you know when that time arrives for now please pray that she can hold off for a while longer. We will try to update this journal as much as possible. Please keep Marshall and the rest of our family in your prayers. Your support means the world to us. PLEASE stop by the guest book and sign in.

Our New Motto: " Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to!"

CARROT, EGG, OR COFFEE BEAN??

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked. "What's the point, mother?" Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity--boiling water--but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water. "Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level? How do you handle Adversity? ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?

Don't tell GOD how big your problem is. Tell the problem how big your GOD is!

FOR TODAY--------(AUTHOR UNKNOWN)

To My Child...
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you wake up softly, all rumpled in your sheets and I will hold you until you are ready for the day.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear and smile at how perfect it is.Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park and play. Just for this morning,I will leave the dishes in the sink and let you teach me how to put that puzzel of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off and sit with you in the back yard and blow bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the Ice-cream Truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take you to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle besides you for hours, and miss my favorite T.V. show.
Just for this evening, when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray. I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about mothers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms and mothers who are in the hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and scream inside that they can't handel it anymore, and when I kiss you goodnight, I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then I will thank God for you and ask him for nothing,

EXCEPT ONE MORE DAY!!

******** Amelia is now collecting snow globes, not Christmas ones alone. She wants to get them from all over the world!!! So if by chance you should come across one from your town and wouldn't mind getting it and sending it she would love that. She said she wants to get as many as she can before transplant. I hope and pray that it is a few more years before transplant but current platelets are at 63. Address is below. Amelia Bennett. Thanks in advance and any that we receive, we will take pictures of and post...this will be a fun kind of game for her.******
