We hope this page serves as a positive influence to families who are struggling with illnesses. We have met so many wonderful people through our Chiari Journey. We are so thankful for all of the life lessons that this journey has given to us and thank God for every blessing that we have. If not for Chiari/EDS, we may never have been able to appreciate them!
The genetic link between Chiari and Ehlers Danlos is just being established. Finding treatment options is very frustrating. Pain and neurological symptoms is an everyday occurrence for the girls and I.
Katelyn read the book "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" and it inspired her to start making paper cranes. The little girl in the story was trying to make 1000 paper cranes so that she could get a miracle wish because she had leukemia. The story really touched Kate and that's how the crane making started. Kasie suggested that we sell them to raise money and Kate is calling it "Miracle Wish for Chiari".
Our new site about that is www.miraclewishforchiari.com
Chiari has allowed us to meet several wonderful families who are also affected by Chiari.
We are excited to report that Miracle Wish has been granted a Family Weekend in the Fall, Nov. 13-15 at the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman,N.C. If you are interested in attending, please let us know. The maximum number of families of 32 and it is absolutely free! This is a HUGE accomplishment for a group as small as ours and we are very excited and thankufl to the Chiari Syringomyelia Foundation for helping us and providing the staff with medical education.

Monday, June 8, 2009 8:28 PM CDT Hey y'all!
Sorry it's been so long since we've last updated, but things have really REALLY been hectic around here lately.
We've been working hard on Miracle Wish, and this Saturday we had a fundraiser at Hobo's Family Restaurant where both Kellie and Kasie wait tables. Richard Baker, the owner, was great... he let us come and set up a table and even promoted us on KALB (a local news station). We also had Randy James and Shy Tyler, two local radio DJs, promote us all week.. we were even on the radio! They waited tables for us for tips and donated all their tips to Miracle Wish. The grand total raised for the night was $903!!! We were elated, and tired after such a long night. We met a few local families who had at least one family member with Chiari. It was great to get local connections. Randy James says that anything he can do, he'll help!
Katelyn is healing very well.. Great news! She gets to go to high school this year!! Only five more weeks in the brace! Her latest Xrays showed bone fusion! So thanks everyone for your prayers! They're working--keep 'em coming!
Kellie is still in lots of pain, and has had MRIs and X-rays--we're still waiting on the results. We're pretty sure she needs surgery, but just won't get it yet!
Mom has been in a good bit of pain lately, but has been coping with it pretty well. Just lots of back pain from her back surgery..
Dad, as always, is still staying strong for all his girls!! I think we've covered everything for now.. thanks for all your support and prayers! Our community in Caringbridge has helped us in so many ways!
