We hope this page serves as a positive influence to families who are struggling with illnesses. We have met so many wonderful people through our Chiari Journey. We are so thankful for all of the life lessons that this journey has given to us and thank God for every blessing that we have. If not for Chiari/EDS, we may never have been able to appreciate them!

The genetic link between Chiari and Ehlers Danlos is just being established. Finding treatment options is very frustrating. Pain and neurological symptoms is an everyday occurrence for the girls and I.

Katelyn read the book "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" and it inspired her to start making paper cranes. The little girl in the story was trying to make 1000 paper cranes so that she could get a miracle wish because she had leukemia. The story really touched Kate and that's how the crane making started. Kasie suggested that we sell them to raise money and Kate is calling it "Miracle Wish for Chiari".

Our new site about that is www.miraclewishforchiari.com

Chiari has allowed us to meet several wonderful families who are also affected by Chiari. We recently met the Ketchesins while the girls were seeing Dr. Frim in Chicago. Kara, their daughter was having her 11th surgery at the time. Please visit her site.

Hi all it's Ricky. Just wanted to upadate everyone. We were walking in the hall today about three fifteen. We had decided that we were not going to see Dr. Menezes today so we would not get to go home. We both felt someone behind us in the hall and when we turned to see it was the doc. He was holding up bunny ears over Leann's head (two fingers). When we turned around he began to laugh. He asked her if she wanted to go home today and she said sure. Then he clarified the hotel. He told her we would have to come see him this Wednesday to change the dressing and then next Wednesday to get the stitches out. We chatted for a while and then he left. He said it was all my job now he was out of it. We both thanked him from the bottom of our hearts. So we are back at the hotel now and Leann is resting.

I just want to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers. Without them we would not have gotten through all of this. I would like to thank all of you "Chiari moms" who have befriended Leann. It means so much to her and to me for her to have someone to talk to. Well until next time see ya.

Ricky
