Rehearsal Dinner/Rehearsal
Journal
Sunday, June 22, 2008 12:31 AM CDT I know it's been a while since I updated, and I'm so sorry that it has been so long. Just remember: no news is good news! I thought you'd enjoy some pictures we got over the weekend though, and as we're traveling at the moment I had a few minutes to put these on here. We took a road trip to Tampa, FL for my cousin Brandon's wedding. We were so excited. We love my cousins Brandon and Brady and my Aunt Gail and Uncle Kenny. We also adore Brandon's (now) wife Mary, so we were pumped to be part of their special day. Brandon and Mary asked Corbin to be their ringbearer and asked if Nathan would be Mary's pageboy. That is the cute terminology they came up with after they asked him to spread the flower petals down the aisle. We didn't want him to think he was a "flower boy" and they came up with something masculine. Evidently, pageboys are still used in royal weddings today, as they attend to the bride. Nathan had the haircut for it. They were so cute in their tuxes, and they did such a great job. Esther was a little doll the whole trip. The wedding was fabulous, and we had a great time. Here are some candid shots:
The rehearsal dinner was at Angelino's Italian Restaurant, and the food was delicious.
Brandon and Mary called the boys up to introduce them to everyone.
Being a beach theme, they gave the boys sandbuckets FILLED with all kinds of pretty awesome toys.
Brandon and Mary's friends were all so great with the boys. But my favorite quote of the night came from Nathan when Steve (the guy seen here in the middle) befriended him and hoisted him into his lap so Nathan could see what was going on. He also played with some of his new toys with him. Nathan came running back over to Corbin yelling, "Corbin! You wanna come over to this guy's lap, it's really fun!"
Mary gave Corbin the pillow and again for the sake of masculinity, gave Nathan, not a basket, but a cool sandbucket full of rose petals and a shovel to dip them out. He was sooo proud! Corbin is a veteran, and this is his third wedding, but Nathan had never been in one.
He was very proud of his bucket, shovel, and as he kept saying his 'important job.'
Here they are on the front pew waiting for their turn.

Here's our three kids. We are so proud of them. An update since you last saw Esther - she weighs 17 pounds!
She is like a baby doll. I love dressing her up and carrying her around everywhere. Dr. Khanfar and Dr. King are very proud of her.
Here's Corbin practicing with the guys. Brandon is far left, and Brady is next.
Here comes Nathan. He knew just how to shovel out those flowers!
Here they are sitting on the stage.
Whew! It is tiring work doing an important job. Here in the hotel, Nathan is sleeping with the race car Brandon gave him.
The Big Day! Look at these two beautiful girls! Mary was so pretty and so gracious to pose for a hundred pictures with our kids.
 Mary and Corbin.
When Nathan saw that, he came running back for his hug from Mary.
Mary with her ringbearer and pageboy.
Brandon with Corbin and Nathan. Nathan is so proud, he has to stick his chest out. He is so cute in that tux. The shop offered to sell us one in his size that we could keep. I told Clint, "What is he, Webster?" As if he would have anywhere in the near future to wear a tux. It was really cute on him though.
Aunt Gail and Uncle Kenny with Corbin and Nathan. Uncle Kenny performed the ceremony, and Aunt Gail was such a beautiful mother of the groom.
Nathan with Brady as he practices his song. Brady did a great job singing during the ceremony.
Little Daddy's girl was tuckered out.
Corbin and Brady all dressed and ready.
 Proud Daddy with his boys.
Grandma (my mother) with Esther. Aunt Gail is my mom's sister, her only sibling, and she was so excited about the wedding. She really enjoyed getting to visit with Aunt Gail and we enjoyed making the trip together.
 Me with my Nathan.
 Me with my Corbin.
Me with my Esther. She woke back up to join the party. She is so sweet. She is now smiling, laughing, cooing, and really, really trying to talk. One of her "words" is "Ubba." We all think "Bubba" will be her first word in honor of her sweet brothers who love her so.
Our three babies. Corbin has a little ulcer inside his mouth if you are wondering where his usual smile is. Don't worry, he came to life at the reception - wait till you see.
Ready early enough for some cute pictures, the boys were a little restless waiting for the wedding to begin.
 Can you tell?

Here they are getting their pictures made with the wedding party. Then it was time for the wedding to begin. I don't have any shots of this, but the photographer does and I'll get those from him. However, I can tell you that the boys did a great job. Corbin was smooth and when he joined Brady and the guys on stage, he was pretty still through the entire wedding. He did yawn about six times, but other than that was great. Nathan came down right behind Corbin dumping out petals with his shovel. He was adorable. He stood with the maid of honor, Tina, and made it through the opening prayer before he started making huge circles in the air with his shovel. Finally, Clint motioned from the third row for Nathan to come sit with him. I left for the nursery to feed Esther, and when I came at the end of the ceremony Clint was laughing from the third row. I walked up the aisle to see what was so funny - wait for it...wait for it...
Yes, here lies Nathan on pew #3. Poor buddy. He came from doing airplane arms on the stage to sit by his dad and immediately passed out from all the responsibility and hard work.
Poor little man. We had to wake him up to get his picture taken some more, although I think the photographer liked this picture the best.
On to the reception. It was at the beautiful harbor view center. And the views were really cool. Then...the music got cranked up, and our kids acted like they were in Saturday Night Fever. Clint and I haven't danced in years, so we were pretty rusty. Our sons, on the other hand, were like little Backstreet Boys or something.
 Here Nathan dances with Tina.
Corbin and I danced to Beyond the Sea.
 Here's me and Nathan.
Then I danced with both of them. We had so much fun. Brandon, Mary, and Brady's friends were so great. They were so much fun, and in their spirit and words, they reflected a love for Christ. Clint and I caught ourselves saying several times that we hoped Corbin and Nathan will have friends like this and will grow to be young men so grounded in Jesus and so willing to extend that joy to others.
Well, I could share the thousands of other pictures of us dancing, but I won't. We had so much fun though.
Here's Corbin Travolta who liked to slide across the floor on his knees. I think this comes from Home Alone, but as for all his other dance moves - I don't know what to say. The kid can dance. Clint and I were really impressed, at all his moves.
Nathan is right behind him. Evidently, breakdancing does not have to be taught.
 Brandon and Mary dancing.
The last dancing picture, I promise. Esther and I doing the good ol' electric slide. No matter how rusty you get, the electric slide is like riding a bike - you never forget. We had a great time! I'll update more soon. We are about to reach our stopping point in Pensacola where we're taking a day to let the kids play on the beach before we finish our drive home!
