Welcome to our Child Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about our Child.
We will update with any new information as soon as we can.
We appreciate your concern and are so blessed to have such wonderful and loving friends and family.
Keep Praying for Aleah!

On December 29,2003 Aleah was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Since diagnosis, Aleah has amazed us all with her courage, as she has gone through 6 rounds of high dose chemotherapy, a four hour surgery, and had her stem cell (bone marrow) transplant on June 23, 2004,then she had 13 days of radiation to both tumor sites August 30-Sept 15, 2004. Aleah now is ending 6 months of Accutane treatment and 3 new experimental drugs involved with the Monoclonal Antibody Ch14.18 Study. Aleah will be randomized to Regimen A (Standard Protocol of Accutane) or Regimen B (Accutane plus Ch14.18, IL-2 and GmCSF.) She received these treatments from Oct 1 thru Mar. 05.
Update: Aleah was randomized to do the Regimen B of the Monoclonal Antibody study so she began treatment on Oct. 1 (her 100 days post stem cell transplant date). She started the antibody and then got an infection, the antibody was stopped for two days and then she will pick back up on the study schedule without having to make up the days of medicine that she missed. We have a tough 6 months ahead so please pray that this treatment will keep th cancer from coming back!
Aleah will be hospitalized during the Interlukin 2 medication which will be Oct 25 - 28, November 1 - 4 , Dec 20 - 25, and Dec 27 - 31.

Aleah still has one more treatment Jan 24-27th at UK PICU and then he other days/weeks will be given either at home or as an outpatient at the UK hemotology-Oncology Clinic with our favorite nurses!

God has given Aleah everything she needed to make it through every last horror she has endured this past eight months. I think He gave Joshua the spirit and attitude to help him endure much separation, fear and uncertainty. I believe He gave Seth the strength to be a rock for his wife, and his children in the most uncertain times, and I know He gave me the strength to face the biggest fear of my life...facing cancer in my daughter! Wow, that's quite a lot. God has provided and has been faithful through every last detail of our lives and this battle we know as Neuroblastoma.
Lastly, we have been so blessed by each of you who have supported and encouraged us every step of this journey. We are so grateful to you and to God for placing you in our lives. Thanks for walking with us along this journey.

As I look ahead, I do so with some fear but mostly with assurance and peace. God has proven His love and provision to us over and over again. I know that no matter what, He will walk beside us and that He will be sufficient for us.
Unfortunately, the relapse rate of this disease is very high.
Please keep praying and believe in your heart and pray that with God's intervention Aleah will fully recover .

Please be sure to sign Aleah's guestbook and look at the photo page. We have also added a GuestMap that you can place a pin where you live to show all the people we have been praying for Aleah. Just click on the box that says Guestmap so you can check this out!

A little girl named Kaitlyn who also has NB has a list of kids and links of their sites on her neuroblastoma caringbridge page. If you would like to read about more kids with this same kind of cancer as Aleah or see their sites, stop by Kaitlyn's site and click on one of the many sites she has listed with more Cancer Kids. Be sure to sign their guestbook to say you will be praying for them too. I'm sure it will brighten their day!

Somebody's Praying

Somebody's praying I can feel it, somebody's praying for me. Mighty Hands are guiding me to protect me from what I can't see. Lord, I believe, Lord I believe somebody's praying for me. Angels are watching I can feel it, Angels are watching over me.There's many miles ahead till I get Home, till I safely get before Your Throne. Cause, Lord I believe, Lord I believe, Angels are watching over me. Well, I won't bear in wilderness, for my pillow was a stone, and I've been through the darkest caverns where no light had ever shone. Still I know that there was someone who was down on their knees. Lord I thank You for those people praying all this time for me. Somebody's praying I can feel it, somebody's praying for me. Mighty Hands are Guiding me to Protect me from what I can't see. Lord I believe, Lord I believe, somebody's praying for me.

Aleah’s Bracelet of Hope

Aleah Cornelius is a six year old Cancer survivor! She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma when she was two and a half years old. Aleah endured surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, stem cell transplant and intensive experimental medications during her treatment. She is scanned every six months to make sure this horrible cancer does not return. Although there is no cure currently for Neuroblastoma, Aleah has survived two years post treatment. She was recently diagnosed with hearing loss from the side effects of one of the chemotherapies that was given to her during treatment. Aleah is currently in First Grade at Strode Station Elementary School in Clark County.

This bracelet was designed by her Aunt Sheila to help Aleah’s family during her treatment. It was sold to family and friends to remember Aleah throughout their day so they would continue to pray for Aleah to be cancer free!

What the Bracelet means:
The bright colors represent Aleah’s bright spirit as she endured her cancer treatments and hospital stays. Although Aleah was confined to sometimes just her hospital room, she always managed to keep her spirits up. In the beginning of treatment, she had a rough time trusting her doctors and nurses, but eventually she became “Friends” with them and looked forward to visiting them in the hospital or clinic!

The Angel represents the children that earned their wings from or due to childhood cancer. So many kids do not survive this and other childhood cancers, and we wanted them to be remembered in Aleah’s bracelet because they hold a special place in our hearts. Many of these kids endured experimental drugs and treatments that paved the way for any current information and advances made in Childhood Cancer.

The Cross represents our Faith that Aleah would make it through this. It should go without saying that it takes a mountain of Faith to experience Cancer in a child. Our world was flipped upside down when Aleah was diagnosed. We had a network of wonderful family, friends and a Church Family (Thank you Grace Church in Maysville Ky!) to help us during this time. Our Faith was tested time and time again, but we put Aleah in God’s hands from day one and trusted in him to pull her through. It is with God’s Grace that Aleah is a survivor. Without a doubt, we believe that God gave us this amazing little girl to show us to Trust in Him Always!

The Butterfly represents our hope that Aleah would be healed and spread her wings to fly!. We believed that although there was no cure, Aleah could beat this cancer, and she did! The butterfly seemed appropriate because it seems to capture the essence of childhood and the development of a person’s life. Aleah missed some valuable “toddler” years during her treatment but has blossomed into a sweet, beautiful, and charismatic little girl.

During Aleah's journey of survival, we knew that we would someday find a way to give back and to pass on the hope of survival to other families. This is the beginning of that hope of "giving back" to cancer foundations, research and support groups for families of childhood cancer patients. We hope that as you look at your bracelet, it will inspire you to have faith and it gives you the hope to get through difficult times.
With your purchase, you will help a family that is experiencing the same situation with childhood cancer. Let’s give Hope and Faith to those who need it as so many gave us Hope and Faith when we needed it the most! God Bless You !
