My name is Kalair Mariana Myrick, and I was born on February 23rd, 2000.

In case you can't tell...I'm a little
!!!

In my house
the

I love my family, especially my little brother, Prince Arturo .

He's a big baby now, huh?

I also love butterflies, angels, and anything that is
!!!

When I was two months old, doctors told my mommy that I had Spinal Muscular Atrophy type one. When I was almost six months old, my muscles were getting too weak for me to eat or breathe well on my own, so I had a feeding tube placed in my tummy and I started sleeping on my bi-pap machine. Every day I use a special machine to help me cough, a suction machine to help me clear my secretions, a pulse oximeter to warn my mommy if I start to choke, and a feeding pump to give me my special amino acid formula. Oh, and those are just the things I use when I am feeling good! If I get sick I also need nebulizer treatments, clapping (chest PT), lots of extra bi-pap time, and sometimes even oxygen! But enough about all of that, back to me being a
...

Mommy says I have always been a very girly girl. I love to dress up and feel pretty. I especially like wearing really bright colors and borrowing mommy's make-up! I love anything purple or pink! Right now getting my nails done with lots of pretty decals and dressing up in my very large bracelet collection are my favorite ways to show off my beauty...just plain old nail polish is not cool enough for me now that I've discovered the decals! I still like to play with my pony dance studio and use my arm sling to brush their manes and tails, but I'm not as into collecting them as I once was. Besides being a girly girl, I have always loved watching movies...Elmo was my first love but I've finally outgrown him, just in time to pass along all his movies to my little brother, but silly Turo just wants to watch his beloved "Tubbies!" My current favorite movie is Dirty Dancing! Can you believe that? I love all the music and dancing, and mommy and my Aunt Toya both love to watch it with me because it was their favorite movie when they were my age too! It does get a little annoying when mommy sings too much or Aunt Toya says all the words to her favorite parts, but I love them anyway! My other favorite movie is Labrynth. I love all Jim Henson shows, and I can really relate to wanting to send my baby brother to the Goblin King some days! I'd probably also have fun going through the labrynth to get him back, LOL! I still LOVE reading books, I can't get enough of being read to! Some of my favorite books so far were the Little House on the Prairie Series and A Little Princess, and right now we are reading the Harry Potter series which I am LOVING! When I'm not reading or watching , I also like to play computer games with my super sensitive switches and exercise my arms and legs in a sling made by SMA friends, the Swanson twins. (My friend, Princess Cassie, went home to heaven on June 9, 2006. If you have a minute, visit the twins website and say hi to her sister, Skylar.) I also love being outside as longs as it's not TOO hot...going on car trips, and playing with my friends. I can't wait until it is summer again so my family and I can do more of my favorite things!!! I could go on and on about ME, but mommy says if I don't stop soon no one is going to have the time to read my introduction, so I'll quit for now.

I have several SMA buddies with caringbridge websites, including my best friend, Sky, my little buddy and fellow princess, Julia, extra special angels in heaven; Holly Ann, Cole, Jacob, and Shreya...and last but not least, my biggest girlfriend and inspiration MJ!!! And I always look forward to getting to know many new friends through caringbridge.

I have been trying to work up the inspiration and courage to come here and post more about my baby girl. I miss her so much. But instead I am here today with a heartbreaking prayer request. Princess Kalair's beautiful best friend, Skylar Saranchuk, earned her angel wings very early this morning and flew home. Just four days after Kalair's first angelversary, I am heartbroken beyond words. Please pray for Skylar's loved ones, especially her wonderful mommy, Tracy Murray. I know all too well the long road she is about to face without her little princess to kiss and hold. Please visit Skylar's caringbridge page at www.caringbridge.org/pa/skylar and let her family know you were there.

I am happy for our little girls that they are together in heaven and free from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, but I will miss them both with my whole heart until I can hold them once again. Skylar Elizabeth, thank you for letting me be your "auntie" I love you just like you were one of my own children and I always, always will. It would be silly to think that I could ever forget you. You are unforgettable, one of a kind, sweet angel. I hope your best friend is giving you tons of hugs and kisses. You give her some back, and tell her they are from her mommy. Godspeed little angels.
