Ray's Page

Please see some of our favorite verses and scroll down for the Journal.

Ray relapsed on 10/12/05 after receiving his stem cells on 6/21/2005. This was 113 days post transplant. Ray was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on 1/14/04. He had chemotherapy treatments for 1 year and 1 month when on February 8th 2005, we learned that his Leukemia had returned. Ray's stem cell transplant was a cord blood (or umbilical cord) donor. Ray's leukemia once again returned with a nasty infection to boot and his battle was won by going home to be with Jesus. Ray had a very strong faith and knew that Jesus, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior. He is now playing basketball, football and soccer with some of his friends in Heaven

We started a foundation to fund research for a cure and also to help patients financially. This is called the Ray's Sunshine Foundation. Ray was our sunshine, that is what his name meant. This is why we started this foundation help families struggling with the financial difficulties associated with pediatric cancer. Please donate if you can. At this time, and for the forseeable future, there are no salaries paid out, this is a true Non-Profit Foundation, with only volunteers and general donors. Ray's Sunshine Foundation

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Hello!

I could not leave Ray’s page with the negative info. That would be allowing a negative comment to have the last word. So, here is the update:

Everyone is fine. We miss Ray each and every day. He is still a large part of our lives. It is just getting easier to talk about him without crying. Jake misses him daily – he was/is still Jake’s best friend.

Gary and I are doing okay. I am working. Although my job has its challenges, there are positives – like a paycheck – just kidding!! But the positives are being able to focus on something and having an outlet when I need stability.

We have been really relying on what God has for us and not making decisions without Him. Ray did this and we figured that it was time to allow God to work on us. So, when jobs became thin and we were looking at Gary being laid off (plus his job was a bit of a mess) we really left it in God’s hands. Gary applied for a job in Afghanistan. We figured that if he didn’t get it God said no and vice - versa.

Well Gary is at the end of his 1st month in Afghanistan and he is liking it. We miss him terribly and know that he misses us. But we are fine and we know that this is what God had in store for us.

Again, Ray is with Gary every day – I hear it in Gary’s voice. His heart is filling again. Jake continues to see beautiful white butterflies – Ray’s sign to him that he loves us. I hear his laugh every now in my memory and I know that he is healthy happy and loving life in paradise.

Pray for families that encounter a form of the Beast and if you want to support them, please make a donation to the Ray’s Sunshine Foundation. We did not do the Race for Ray because of the economy – but we still need the support. www.rayssunshine.org

God Bless.

Christa
