Garrett L. Blevins August 5, 2000 ~ July 14, 2003
Septmeber 14, 2001 Garrett was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma Stage I, a rare form of liver cancer he was 13 mo. old. Sept. 18, 2001 he had an extensive liver resection. His tumor was about 2 lbs. His AFP was 100,000 before surgery. He spent 6 weeks in the hospital fighting an infection. The first week in Nov. he started chemo. It was suppose to be four rounds of chemo and a full recovery. In December he was hopitalized for fever. We spent the week of Christmas in a hospital room. An x-ray showed tumors on the lungs. A biopsy confirmed it was Hepatoblastoma. Our "FIGHT" begins. He is now Stage 4. He has had a year and a half of chemotherapy keeping the tumors stable. Garrett was put in a study at St. Jude Children's Hospital in June 2002to Oct. 2002. AFP was 1500 when we left in Oct. The chemo wasn't helping. We were sent home to enjoy the time we had left. Garrett's fight for life continues with love, family, & PRAYERS. AFP as of January 2003 was 13,772.

A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE ANGEL
Our little angel's life was cut short, God needed him above Gentle Angels were escorting him, he ascended like a dove
His gentle smile and his beautiful face Such little Angels we cannot replace
And all that knew and loved him will miss him each day I know none of our lives are the same now that he went away
His little wings were broken all of his days The Lord stopped his pain, for this you must praise
He's no longer suffering, he's safe and at home He is always with all of us; we're never alone
Children are little Angels that get taken away And Oh What a beautiful Angel Our precious memories of little Garrett will never fade.
