Hi Dennis
My name is Blanca and I am recently enrolled in a Bio class how cancer works. My professor has used your journal as an assignment criteria. During this course your journal has helped me to also cope with the recent diagnosis of my cousin, who has a rare brain cancer. I always inform her of my studies and reading your journal gave me a better understanding of her moods at times. I understand the disease more. I appreciate you and for the care you have given to others. Good luck and live life. You deserve it.

Thank You
Blanca Morales

I would like to get you up to speed and have a few questions if you have the time to talk. I am so happy to hear that you have come so far and things are looking up! God Bless.

Dennis, I doubt you remember me, but I am Joni (Johnson) Prihoda- I was the TNT mentor for the Disney Marathon several years ago when you were our patient honoree. I just ran across the link to your journal and wanted to see how you are doing. Your courage and faith are amazing and have been an inspiration. Best wishes!

Hi Dennis! Just checking in and saw your last update from September. You sure are busy these days! My husband ran his first marathon (Chicago Marathon) a couple of weeks ago for TNT in honor of my dad. It was a great weekend and we spent some talking about you and all the people that helped us through dad's illness. It's wonderful to read your updates and hear how much you are enjoying your grandchildren and garden. Thinking of you and wishing you well!

Mr. Pyritz,
Well, where to start. I think of you from time to time,
and wonder how you're doing. Lisa and I have 3 teenagers,
2 in college, while running our own businesses. We are both licensed R.N.'s, Lisa working for Clarian, and I utilize it
for medical mission work in Latin America.
I have been in Mexico 9 of the last 11 years, doing home construction and nursing/pharmacy work in Reynosa, Mexico.
I don't want to take up too much of this page; perhaps you will respond personally and "catch up"
Still clean and sober,
Still your friend and ally,

Denis, I don't know you but I plan to spend tomorrow reading your entire journal. My father was diagnosed with t-pll on Thursday and I'm hoping to support him by learning through your experience. I have so many questions and I'm hopeful that your journal will answer some of them. He started Campath the day he was diagnosed. He's been healthy all his life and only a routine blood exam discovered this illness. Thanks for sharing for those of us who didn't know we'd share your journey.

This update was wonderful. I go to Mount Wachusett community college, where in my Biology of Cancer class, we read your diary of an illness. it was very touching, however, everyone in the class thought it ended abruptly. after we discussed that for some time our professors showed us this update, where it pulls the whole story together. I am glad you are doing so well.

So much to tell, but suffice it to say that I,too, am in remission ...for today :) I will NEVER forget your role in my recovery. Much peace to you and your family this Christmas. Dan

Good Friday greetings from Idaho!

Thinking of you today especially as I visited a friend who's on the oncology ward; and the spring rains and the new life springing from the earth.

Happy Easter - so glad you are doing so well. Thanks be to God.

Hi Dennis and Tish! It's Alli Yancey (was Weber!) from the Disney 2004 TNT Team. I finally was able to catch up on your journal...You have been in my thoughts as I am on my Hem/Onc rotation at Riley. Yesterday I pushed in the stem cells for my 4 yr old pt who has neuroblastoma. It was amazing and I was all shaky and speechless after we finished. She slept through the whole thing too! And the smell is certainly something! Your journal entries are so wonderful to read and hear how you are doing. That is great news about so many of Mark's cells being around! I have really been enjoying this month of my peds residency (the pts are amazing), and a hem/onc fellowship is back in my thought processes...I look forward to your continued entries and please know you have my continued prayers!

Hi Denny,
So glad to see you are enjoying doing things. I didn't realize you would be able to go out like you are. That is wonderful! The weather has been so beautiful! The leaves are beginning to fall quickly - I think the dryness is helping that along. I hate to see the flowers die down but each season has its own beauty. Dear Dennis & Tish,

No posts for a couple of days, here's hoping that means you're better and went home? Hope you're feeling better and getting stronger. I see that the feast day of your namesake St. Denis is next month, you could probably relate a little bit:

Denis (about 275) was scourged, imprisoned, racked, thrown to wild beasts, burnt at the stake, and finally beheaded.

See, modern medicine is hasn't changed so much, has it? ;)

God bless you both!

Hi Dennis, Thought of you the other night when we went to the fireworks, and wondered if you could see them since you had one of the best seats in town. If you didn't see them I'm sure you heard them ( I don't think even the ativan could mask that sound). Thinking of you . Sounds like things are heading in the right direction.

Dennis and Tish, I didn't know if you would remember I was there or not. I arrived as Dennis was finishing his bath and discovered that Tish had left for a while. As the nurse left, he told me he had given Dennis ativan. I stayed for about 20 min. and you were sleeping so peacefully that I didn't want to interrupt. I knew how Benadryl affected you so I figured you would really be knocked out with Ativan. The balloons were from the radiation department. I will be back! Marcia

Hi, Dennis. Just wanted to share my prayers and blessings. You may not remember me, but we have in the past worked together, albeit not closely, when I was in Community's marketing dept. I'm a freelance writer now doing a lot of work for Community, and am on their email system, where I saw your caringbridge site. I know something of your struggle, since my son has leukemia (www.caringbridge.org/in/kylefacts), though childhood and adult leukemias are very different. Just a quick note to let you know that Matilda and I are praying for you. She has gone to Fort Wayne for the weekend and I always tease her that I love having the house to myself. Turns out that some friends came from Chicago for the funeral of one of our sister's sister. So this morning we spent the morning in Shelbyville for the funeral. I'm going with another friend to the Colts game this evening after dinner. Such a social butterfly.

Hey, Bro! I am so glad that things went well on Tuesday. We think about you daily in our thoughts and prayers. I haven't talked to Tish very much because I don't want to bother her with the details. God knows she has much on her mind these days between you and Aaron's troubles! Susan and I check this website every day for her entries to check on your progress. From the looks of your guestbook, I know you are well thought of by many. With all of that love and support from your friends, this will indeed be your successful rebirth. By the way, I didn't mentioned that the stem cells came with a penchant for cheap bourbon and even cheaper cigars! Sorry about that! Hope you can overcome the urge while in the hospital. Maybe some day we can light up one and have a toast out on your screened porch - a toast to your health and new beginnings.

Tish, you take care of both yourselves. We love you both!

Dennis, Tish, Ben and Aaron,
Thank you so very much for allowing us to share this extremely intimate part of your lives. I can appreciate the vast array of emotions each may be experiencing as Day Zero approaches. Dennis, thank you for sharing a glimpse of yourself via pictures -- I, too, think you look fantastic. I appreciate all you have done, and continue to do, for others along this path. However, remember there comes a time when we need to receive, rather than provide. Please give your brother my thanks and a big hug for his gift! I feel blessed for having had the opportunity to work with you, and look forward to your return -- we need you! Peace, love, and many prayers...

Hi Dennis,
WOW!! You really do not allow yourself to have any down time, do you?? You look fantastic on your motorcycle. It is so great to hear you are still trying to help others by lecturing and sharing. You are a modern day disciple. Lots of prayers and healing thoughts are sent to you. Blessings, Cheryl (see you at our next anniversary lunch)

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for keeping everyone informed. I wish you the very best. I don't think we have met in person, but I spoke with you not long ago regarding Lifeline for your Mom. Since that time my sister has been diagnosed with Cancer and is now being treated at St. Francis (Bone Marrow Unit). I understand this is where you will be getting your treatment. I'm sure you know the nurses and doctors (Dr. Kahn) at this very special place are just wonderful. Good Luck to you! JJ Harlan

Dennis, Thank you for being there! Where? Yes, Seattle! I haven't stopped smiling and I haven't stopped telling this story. And since there are other readers....I'll tell it again. My husband, Mickey and I were leaving Seattle,WA Sunday to catch our flight back home to Indianapolis, IN. We were standing in an unbelievably long line (imagine that!) to get checked in for flight. Who goes cutting through "our" ATA line to get through to "his" NWA check-in line? Our friend Dennis. I have not seen Dennis in a terribly long time. It's probably been a year or so. I'm so thankful to those long lines now. Next time instead of cursing those terribly long lines I will just keep an eye out for someone special that I may run in to! Keep up the good work Dennis, you looked great. Hello to Trish and family. Dawn Bechara says hello too. Much love and prayers, Marischka & Mickey Radez
