Noah Sanchez

Proudly showing his new YELLOW belt!

Journal

We saw the Oncologist Monday for Noah's 4 month check. His MRI was stable, no evidence of tumor regrowth. Thank God! I NEVER get tired of hearing that! He does have another sinus infection and an ear infection. He's had quite a difficult time with his sinuses lately. This 'may' be caused from a thickening of the mucosal lining...which 'may' be a result of the brain surgeries. The MRI did show a cyst on the pituitary gland. Which, as long as it doesn't change in size, is a non-issue. They will watch it with each MRI.

His neurological responses have continued to improve greatly and they were very impressed with the progress he's made just since his last appointment 4 months ago. They have indicated, for the first time, that it 'may' be possible that Noah will regain all that was lost with regard to the right-sided weakness and balance issues. This is NOT a definate, but he's progressing at an impressive rate, so they are hopeful. Sometimes, being so young, it's possible to relearn and regain what may not have been possible to recover at an older age. It was great to hear them even offer a 'maybe', that's more than we've gotten in the past! We can see the improvements, but it's nice to have a professional validate it medically, I suppose.

The school has discontinued his in-school physical therapies because he is now considered to be on par, physically, with his peers. Of course, we still have to be cautious about the activities he does, but just to see him just a step behind, rather than a mile behind, is amazing! He has so much more confidence than he had before and he's getting quite brave about trying new things. This, of course, makes for a nervous mommy, but I try to just sit back and let him fly. Soon, I guess I'll have to start preparing myself for the tree climbing, roof jumping stuff that comes along with boys. Brother! I'm not sure I'm ready for this.

Noah is still doing Karate, and is still loving school. He's still mirror writing, but it seems to be with less frequency, so maybe we're rounding the corner.

He has decided that he wants to raise money (or 'get money' as he says) for this years Ride for Kids for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. He was so taken with 'Super' Dave Rosno (the motorcycle racer he met last year) and was so impressed by the fact that Super Dave was helping raise money for the PBTF/Ride for Kids that he wanted to do it to. He's raised over $900 to date! If you'd like to donate, or would like more information, his page is: www.firstgiving.com/supernoah.

Noah's next checkup/MRI will be in June.

Thanks for checking in. God Bless.
