HAPPY 2013!

2012 WAS AN EXCITING YEAR FOR US. THIS IS A COPY OF OUR CHRISTMAS LETTER.

December 2012

Seasons Greetings Family & Friends,

We hope this letter finds you happy and healthy and looking forward to celebrating the gifts of Christmas and the promise of the coming year.

Like every year at this time we like to reflect on what we did in the past year.

Bella is now ten and in the 5th grade at Windsor Elementary. Over the summer Bella started playing the clarinet and recently participated in her first band concert. Bell continues to dance at Studio 11 on Monday nights and this past June participated in 4 numbers in the dance recital; tap, jazz and ballet as well as the finale. This past fall Bella started doing gymnastics at the YMCA on Saturday mornings. Most weekends we go out to breakfast afterward with Grandma and Carl. Bella once again spent the summer at camp Winnebago and really enjoyed the week where the theme was “Spa Camp”. Bella also spent a week in Appleton with my sister; she must have really enjoyed it as she wants to do it again next summer.

Joan and Scott thankfully are still employed at Rockford Memorial and Beloit Memorial respectfully. The possible merger of Joan’s hospital with another local hospital did not go through as we thought possible in last year’s letter. Joan did have the opportunity to experience the care provided at Scott’s hospital when she underwent a hysterectomy in Mid-October. Recovery has gone well and we are thankful for insurance and good medical care.

On Spring break this year we took a few days and went to Milwaukee. Joan went to graduate school there and while it has changed quite a bit, it was still a little like going home. We visited the Mitchell Park Domes, the Sprecher factory (the best Root Beer!) and Milwaukee Public Museum.

In May Joan joined her sisters Sonya and Shelly and her brother Mark on the American Diabetes Association’s Tour De Cure bike ride in Madison. It was a warm and windy day to ride 20 km or was it 20 miles? We are looking forward to the ride again in 2013. At the time of Joan’s surgery in October she was diagnosed with diabetes. Thanks to everyone who supported the tour with your contribution.

In October we were fortunate enough to take a trip out west to the Black Hills. We had a wonderful time visiting the Corn Palace, The Badlands, Wall Drug, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Crazy Horse Monument, The Mammoth site, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Bear Country USA.

At home we decided to have the windows and sliding glass door on our sun porch replaced. It ended up being way more complicated that we thought and has taken forever. Started in May and still not technically done. This meant that we had an unfinished sun porch when we hosted friends for Memorial Day, Bella’s Zebra themed 10th birthday party and Joan’s 50th birthday bash in September. As of the time we still are waiting for the seamless gutter and new down spouts. We also finally had some landscaping done in our back yard with the building of a seat wall along the patio and the installation of the pond. We planted a lot of bulbs this fall and are looking forward to a showy spring.

Scott unfortunately hit a deer with his mini cooper on Thanksgiving morning and it has now been a couple of weeks while we wait to get it repaired.

As 2012 draws to a close we reflect upon how fortunate we are to live where we do and with the many blessing we have. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Love,
Scott, Joan, Isabella, Ben, Lady & Isis
