Lucas is doing really well in school.
He continues to feel good. We have been busy doing homework and studing. We got his costume for halloween he is going to be an army guy. Hes so excited. We got his costume from an army surplus store. He looks so cute in it. I will add some pictures soon. We just got a new computer so i have to download some new pictures.

Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that Lucas had a GREAT time @ camp. They did so much stuff. I added some of the new pictures from camp. Everyday they did something different. they went on motorcycle rides, had dances ate icecrem everyday. they also went to a baseball game, helecoptor rides, and swam everyday.

Lucas had his doctors appointment today everythig went well.
HE don't have to go back until Feb.

I have to go but will update somemore really soon..

WE had a GREAT vacation Lucas went swimming everyday in a creek. We rented a boat one day and went tubing.
He left yesterday for camp he won't be home until Saturday.
I miss he so much. I know he is having a lot of fun they have fun stuff planned everyday. Yesterday was the 4th of July. Today they are having a Valentines Day dance. One day the will have a halloween party, PJ party, and a sports day where they will go to a baseball game and go fishing.

Well i have to go i will update when Lucas gets home and i will post some new pictures of our vacation..

Hello Everyone,

Lucas is doing GREAT!!!
Summer is going by so fast. He is having a great time. He played baseball this summer and his team took First place. He's been swimming a lot it has been really HOT.

We did have a little scare a few week ago. Lucas was complaining of a very bad headache and bad back pain I called the docotrs and they told me to take to the ER so they run some test. We'll we were there all day i was sooooo scared i thought that maybe his disease was coming back. They took all kids of test and x-rays well everyhting came back good i was soooo very happy. They said he had a virus. What a scare that was.

We are leaving for vacation this Wed. we are going to Arkansas to visit some friends that live there. We will be there for about 10 days. We are planning on going camping at the state park, swimming, resting and just visiting.
The day we get back Lucas is going to camp for a week it's called Camp Quility its for kids with Cancer. This will be the first time lucas will be away from home for so long. I'm kind of nervous. But he'll have fun and he can call home at any time. They have all kinds of fun stuff planned for that week.

Well i have to go i will update after vacation.

Lucas is doing GREAT.
He is having a fun summer. He goes to summer camp a couple hours a day he loves it. Lucas's big sister just graduated from high school. we have a very busy month getting ready for her party. The party was saturday and everyone had a great time.

Lucas goes back to the doctor in Aug. for a check up and x-rays, bloodwork. He is going to a camp this summer its called camp quility its just for sick kids he will be gone for about a week he is looking forward to going...

Hello,

The picture above is Lucas playing Jesus in the stations of the cross for school. He did a great job..
Lucas is doing very well no more strep..
We are busy getting ready for Easter.

Lucas is going well.
He did have strep throat for about 4 weeks now.
He was on a medicine but it did not work so he had to go on a stronger medicine. He feeling much better.
We went away for the weekend to Wis. Dells Lucas's sister had a cheerleading compitation It was for Nationals. Well it was great they won first place.
Lucas had a great time he got to go swimming and go on water slides they had a ball.
Lucas didn't want to come home. He said he wanted to live there. Well Lucas doesn't go back to the doctor until August. So hopefully everything will continue to go well.

Lucas is doing great. His doctors appointment went really well. He graduated again from seeing the doctor he don't have to go back for 6 months.... How great is that!!!!
He was a little sad when the doctor said 6 months. He said he was going to miss visiting the doctor and the nurses.

Lucas has been sick and home from school for 4 days now.
He has a cough and a fever.
He is starting to feel better today but still coughing no fever since yesterday morning.
He will probably go to school tomorrow.
We are going to the doctor on Feb. for a check up i still have to call and make an appointment.

Hello,

Well we went to doctor and everything looks good.
We had all kinds of x-rays done. After we had the x-rays done we went back to the office so the doctor could read them. Well the doctor came back and said we had to go for 4 more views os his head He just about gave me a heart attack. I thought o no here we go again. We had the x-rays done and we went right back to the office. The doctor came back with a big smile on his face and said everything looked good i was so relieved.I guess there is his disease there but it is not active. What a scare that was. I so happy everyhting is still looking good.

Lucas is doing really well in school.
One of his classmates was just diagnoised with ALL on the first day of school. I helped his mom set up a web site for him. If you have a chance stop by and drop him a little note his address is www.caringbridge.org/il/tom.

Lucas is doing good.
He did stay home from school yesterday he was throwing up he had the stomach flu. He seems to be better today. We are going to take Lucas to the doctor Thursday i found a little lump on his head. So i'm going to have it checked out to be on the safe side. I hoping its nothing. Well i will update on Thursday to let everyone know what was on Lucas's head.

Lucas is doing well. He had his school pictures today.
he is getting sooooo big i can't believe he's alreay in 2nd grade the time goes by so fast. He's doing good in school he likes his new teacher.

His sister Ashley had surgery yesterday everything went well. she had her hernia repaired the doctor said the hernia was big she also had a lump removed from her arm.
We got the report back already from pathology everything looks good they said it was a cysts..
So i so happy its over and she's doing well.....

Hello,

Lucas's doctors appointment went really well. he has graduated to seeing the doctor every 4 months. We have benn very busy arouind here getting ready for school. School starts thurday Aug. 26th.

Lucas's sister Ashley will be having surgey thurday for her hernia and she has a lump on her arm they will also remove the lump. So we need extra prayers for thursday that everything goes well with Ashley.

Well i will update after surgey thrusday..
UPDATE AUG. 25th Ashley will not be having surgery tomorrow i'm going to take her to see a different doctor. We see the new doctor Monday.

Hello,

We are home from vavation we had a GREAT time.
We went to Arkansas for 5 days. While we were there we rented a boat and went tubing, we also went swimming in a creek it was so nice. The kids jumped off cliffs yes even lucas did. After that we went to stay @ Branson Missouri.
We had fun there we seen a couple magic shows, went swimming and we to Celerbration City its like a carnival.

Lucas continues to do well. He was complaining last nite that his foot was hurting him i'm hoping that its just growing pains......
He did fall off his bike yesterday he has a scrape on his knee..
I'm going to take my film in i can't wait to post new pictures of our vacation.

Well thats all for now Lucas has his doctors appointment @ the middle od August. I'll update after his appointment....

He don't have to go back for 2 months. The next appointment he will have a full body scan and blood work.

Hello,

WEll we went to the doctor today. He put Lucas on allergy medicine and an inhaler for his breathing.
We were up all night again with him coughing and doing treatments. I'm sooo tired.
The doctor said just to watch the rash he has on his arm.
Si if it don't go away in a couple of weeks to call him back.
Well i'll keep everyone updated of any changes...

Hello,

Lucas is sick he has been coughing a lot.
I had to give him 2 breathing treatments in a roll last night. I thought i was going to have to call 911
Because he said he couldn't breath.
My husband was at the firehouse last night.
So i was really nervous when i couldn't get the coughing under control and when he said he couldn't breath.
I called him and said you might have to come here with the ambulance. But he calmed me down and told me to give him the 2 breathing treatments. After the second one he started feeling better. So i kept him home from school and keeping him on breathing treatments and cough medicine.
So if hes not better by tomorrow he'll be going to the doctor.

I'll let you know what tonight brings.

Lucas's appointment went well.
He had to have blood taken. He cried a little the lady was hurting him she was digging around to much. I was just about to tell her to take it out and start over then she finally found the vein.
Lucas has a rash on his arm the doctor wants me to watch it to make its not the LCH.

Lucas is doing really well.
Although he did stay home from school today with a bad cough.
Otherwise everything else is good.
He did sign up for baseball this year.
So that should be fun.

Hi,

Lucas is going to the doctor tomorrow instead of next week.

He has been complaining of a back ache and he woke up at 2:00 in the morning cring that his leg hurt him..

I am a little worried i hope its not the LCH coming back!!
Tomorrow he will be having x-rays and blood work done. I am praying that the x-rays come back clear.....


I will post tomorrow and let you know what the doctor said.. And if the x-rays were clear or not.

I'm going to be very neverous tomorrow...

Hello,

Lucas is doing well.
Lucas still have those bumps on his ear we go to the doctor next week so i'm going to have him check them.
They do seem to be getting a little bigger.
They are on the side of his ear so i don't know if that could be the LCH or not.
We have a lot of snow here and Lucas just loves it.
WE are suppose to be getting more snow today.
I can't wait for spring to come.

As for Aidan he is doing really well.
He is walking all over the place.
He has thearpy everyday. Aidan is such a strong little boy.

We are planning on going to St. Louis with my sister in law for my nephew's surgery. We will be leaving on Jan. 16th early on the morning.

Lucas had his doctors appointment today and everything went very well.
He goes in Feb. for x-rays and scans..
We went to the Christmas party from the hospital last weekend Lucas had a ball...

Lucas didn't go to school today he has a bad cough.
He seems to be feeling better tonight. I think he'll be able to go to school tomorrow.

Lucas is going to be a fireman Mickey Mouse for halloween.
He loves Mickey Mouse so much. He can't wait to wear his costume. The Wed. Before halloween we are going to a party at the Hospital. The kids will have a great time.

Hello,

Lucas's doctors appointment went great. The rash on the back of his legs is ezama(sorry can't spell).The doctor said we don't have to come back for 2 months so we go back Dec. 16th. And he won't have x-rays for another 4 months.

I think he got him self really nervouse this morning after the blood draw he felt really sick. So we waited in the waiting room to be called Lucas laid on my lap.
When we walked into the room he started vomitting. I felt so bad for him :0(


He is felling great now thats why i think he made himself very nervous. Since he don't have his port anymore the have to draw blood from his arm and he really don't like that.

Hello,

Lucas is doing really well.
We don't go back to the doctor until next Tuesday.
I have to ask the doctor check Lucas's legs he has a rash on the back of his knees. I hope its not the LCH coming back.

Lucas is doing so well in first grade he is learning so much. He was tested on 31 words to see if he could read them and he got everyone right. I'm so proud of him.
We are going to the pumpkin patch next week with his class for a field trip. I was picked to go with the class.
Lucas was so happy. Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Lucas is doing really well.


He loves school he says first grade is a lot harder.
I did have trouble with Lucas one day he decided he didn't want to go to school. When we got there he cried i waited until he stopped and he went to class. After school he didn't even talk about not wanting to go to school. So when he gets there he does like it. I think he was just having a bad morning.


We don't go back to the doctor until Oct. So things are
going good. Well thats all for now i have to go pick up DJ from football practice.

Hello,

Lucas had his port a cath removed yesterday.
He was in a lot of pain after surgery. I think this was the worst surgery he ever had. He cried a lot after when we got home and he had some more pain medicine he seemed a little better. Today he is feeling a lot better. So its time to celebrate no more port..........
We have a doctors appointment Aud. 12th. For his check up x-rays and bllod work.

Hello,

Well Lucas had surgery today they only removed the lump on his head. The doctor did not want to risk it being Lch so he decided that we are going to wait to have his port-a-cath removed. We have to wait until Wed. to get the results back. We are praying its not the LCH coming back. I'm tring to think positive but this disease is so scarey you just never know.

Lucas did really well through surgery. When he woke up he asked if his port was gone. I had to give him the bad news that he still has it and that we have to wait for the test to come back b-4 they can remove it. I felt so bad for him he was so excited to have it removed. He must of asked me 3 times if it was gone like he didn't believe me or something.

He is such a brave little boy. Before he went into surgery they gave him some medicine to make him a little sleepy so he wouldn't be scared he is so funny when they give it to him he laughs so much. But i think this time they gave him a little to much because when he woke up he seemed still drugged.

I have to go for now i will let everyone know wed. how the test came back. So keep saying extra prayers for Lucas

hi, i just wanted to let everyone that i called the doctor the evening to let him know that lucas has a lump on his head. He said to have the surgeon look at it to see if she thinks it is the LCH coming back. If she thinks its something she will call the oncologist and let him know then they will decide if they will have his part-a-cath removed. I will update tomorrow to let everyone know what happened.

Lucas's appointment is July 8th to see when they will take out his Port a cath. Hopefully they won't do it until swimming lessons are over because he really enjoys them.
He is having a great summer he swims like a little fish.

Hello,

Sorry not updating sooner. But we have been very busy.
Lucas started swimming lessons and he's doing great.
He is going to summer camp he loves it, its only a couple hours a day.

Lucas had a Great doctors appointment today.
Doctor Salvi said he can have his port removed. I have to call the surgeon to sch. an appointment.
We don't have to go to the doctor every month any more we now go every 2 months. Its going to be weird not going every month.

Well i have to go for now i will update when i call for his appointment and let everyone know the date so they can say a prayer that everything goes good.

Hello to everyone,

Lucas is doing good he had a great Spring break.
His cousin David came slept over a couple days. They had a good time.

Lucas goes back to the doctor May 13. At that time he will have x-rays done and blood work. We are usually at the doctors for a long time because they take x-rays of his whole body then we have his doctors appointment.

So everyone say a prayer that his x-rays come back clear.

Hello To Everyone,

Lucas had a good doctors appointment today.
Although he did cry when they took blood from his port.
He did meet a new friend today when he was waiting for the doctor. His name was Marco and he just found out March 27 that he has ALL. So we need everyone say a prayer for him.

As for Lucas we don't go back to the doctor till May at that time they will do a full body scan. They want to make sure he don't have any new lumps. If everything looks good i think he will get his port out in June.
So keep your fingers crossed.

This summer is going to be a busy one i have Lucas in T-Ball, DJ in baseball and Ashley in softball.
I will running like crazy this summer.

Lucas is doing really well.
He has grown a couple of inches.
He goes back to the doctor April 15.
I just had the kids pictures taken at school.
It is only of the 3 younger ones because my older daughter is in High School. I will post them soon so everyone can see how much Lucas has changed.

Lucas's doctor visit went good. There was only a little problem they couldn't get blood from his port.
The nurse has to put a special medicine in there to make it work. We had to sit there for 30 minutes before it would work.
The good news is the doctor said everything looks good. We go back next month for a check up. Then in May he will have his body scan. So we have to pray that its looks good.

He started feeling better on Friday. The fevers broke late Thursday nite. He had lots of homework to catch up on. He's finally done with it all. After missing a weeks worth of school thats a lot of homework..

Hello,

What a terrible B-Day Lucas is having today. First of all he come home from school sick he threw up while they were in church. Now he has a 101.3 fever. I feel so sorry for him. He doesn't want to eat anything. I guess we will have to celebrate his b-day when he's feeling better.

Hopefully his fever won't get much higher i'll have to call the doctor.
Since he is not on Chemo he won't have to be admitted. I'll have to take him to his peds. doctor.

Lucas still has a fever it went up to 103.4 this afternoon.
If he still has a fever tomorrow i will take him to the doctor. I was up all night checking his fever last night it was also 103.0.

Lucas is doing much better. We went to the doctor yesterday for his cold. She said that he has a virus.
I have to watch him to make sure he don't get a fever again.

We go back to the Onc. on Feb. 18th. For his monthly check up. Lucas has not been complaining to much about his knee hurting. So thats a good sign..

Hello,

Lucas had great news today. He had x-rays done they showed that his vertebra is healing and he does not have any new lesions. The lump by his port a cath is probably just tissue from the tubing rubbing. The doctor said that he does not think it is the LCH. He is going to go over the x-rays in that area to make sure and if he thinks it's anything else he'll call.

We are so happy to get the great news. Everyone keep praying and I will keep you updated of any changes.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Lucas is doing good. Hopefully this will be a great year for him. We go back to the doctor on Jan.14th. At that time they will do x-rays. Everyone pray that they still look good. Maybe they'll find out what that lump is by his port a cath.

Lucas had a special visit from a couple students from St. Patricia School, Tanya, Tyler and there dad. There dad plans charity football games to raise money for sick children. Tonya, Tyler and their parents wanted to donate the money to Lucas for medical bills. I want to thank them very much for being so generous and thoughtful.

Lucas is doing well!!!! We went to the doctor today. We will be going next month for a contrast study of lucas's portacath to check if there is any leaking.
He has a lump above his portacath were the tubing runs. The doctor wants to make sure it is not leaking. And to also see if it is the LCH. If it is a leak they may have to take out the port. I'm not sure yet what they will do. But i will keep everyone updated. With this disease you never know what will happen. So everyone keep on praying..

Hello,

I justed wanted to thank everyone who helped out at the benefit. It was a great success. I really want to thank my sister she did a great job running everything.I also want to thank everyone who donated their personal time as well as cash and gifts.


Lucas will be going to the doctor tuesday Oct. 22. He will have his bone scan and blood work done. We will find out if the new lesion they found is growing or if it went away.I will keep everyone updated.

Just a quick update. I will be taking Lucas to the doctor on Thursday to check the lump on the back of his head.
I'm praying it just a swollen gland or a bump. The doctor said that he will have x-rays and a c-t scan to check to see if there are any other lumps on his body. If it is the LCH he will have to have Chemo again. So everyone keep praying that its not. We need all the prayers we can get.

Hello everyone,

Lucas is doing really well we went to the doctors today and he said everything looks good. We have to go back Sept. 24th for another check up and blood work. Dr. Salvi said we will be going for x-rays and c-t scans in Oct. So we hope everything stays good. I'll keep everyone updated.


Just a update on Lucas's benifit my sister received a large donation today she was able to pick 2,000 dollars or 5,6 TV's to raffle. I want to thank everyone for all there help.

Lucas is doing good. We were suppose to go to the doctor today, but i was sick so i had reschedule his appointment.
We will be going on Friday. I'm a little scared today Lucas has to bumps on his on his head. I'm hoping that he just bumped his head when he was playing around with his brother. I will check his head everyday to make sure they go away. It's so scary because i'm going to be scared everytime he gets a bump. So hopefully this is just a bump and not a new lesion. Well I wish I knew about this a long time ago I could have kept a good journal.
Well let me tell you a little bit about Lucas's hospital stays. When Lucas was first in the hospital we where in the ER for almost a whole day Lucas complained of stomach pain and couldn't walk. Well the ER doctor sent him for x-rays and did some other test on him but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him so they sent him home. The next morning he woke up he was in more pain and couldn't walk. I called the doctor and they told me to bring him back to the ER. We did and they decided to admit him. He was in the hospital for a couple days before they new what was wrong with him, they were treating him for stomach pain and they thought he was constipated. they kept taking x-rays to see what was wrong but they couldn't see anything.
The called the GI doctor to come and see him after he checked him out he said that there was nothing wrong with his stomach. He said he thought maybe something with his back so they sent him for a MRI. After the MRI the Resident the came up to tell us that they seen a tumor on his vertebrae. But they couldn't really tell us anything else we had to wait till the morning to talk to the other doctor.
When the doctor came up they said we would have to see an oncology doctor my husband and I almost died we didn't know what to expect. When doctor Salvia came in he said he thought Lucas had LCH but he would have to have a biopsy to confirm.
Lucas had the first biopsy and it was very scary the had to put him to sleep and they had to stick a long needle in his spine they had do all this during a CT so they could see they needle going to the right place.
Well the first came back that it was not LCH but dr. Salvia was convinced that it was so he sent him for another biopsy the next day when that result come back they did find that he did have LCH.
We had to set up to see the radiation oncology Dr. Lucas was to have radiation on his vertebrae to kill the cells. He did have the radiation and it was a long process and scary.
After the radiation the doctor said everything looked good and they did kill the cells.
A couple weeks later we found another lesion on his head we went to the doctor and he said it would have to be removed. We had to then see a Neuro Surgeon Dr. Hahn. Dr. Hahn did the surgery and after they did the biopsy they said he had LCH again and he would have to have Chemo treatments. This was sooooo scary.

He was in the hospital a couple of times for fevers from receiving Chemo but he is doing really well now.

I have to go now I hope you understand what we that went through and that how strong Lucas is. I will keep everyone up dated.

My sister, friends and family are going to have a benefit for Lucas in Oct. To help with some of the medical bills I'm attaching a flyer she made if anyone is interested in coming or helping out.

Lucas is doing good today!
Lucas received his last chemo treatment in July.
He did really well. We have a doctors appointment Aug. 20th.
I hope everthing will still be good. Well i have to go for today I'm not feeling good.

He had to recieve radiation treatments for 2 months. After the radiation we thought he was better. He developed a lump on his head he had to have surgey to remove the lump. Dr. Salvi did a biopsy to find if it was LCH. The biopsy confirmed he has LCH. He was to recieve Chemo Thearpy for 6 weeks once a week. Then he would be tested again. After the 6 weeks we had ct scan and full body scan done and we found out he had more lesions on his bones. He went through Chemo for 6 more weeks and was tested again. He then received chemo for 6 months.
After the last ct scan and full body x-rays the doctors said everything looked good. So we are now going every month for blood work and every 3 months for ct scans and x-rays.
We keep praying every day that he will not get any more lesions.
