Sunday, March 8, 2009 12:11 AM CDT Good Rainy Day!!
Many of you have questions. We will try to answer the most popular question.
No Lauryn did NOT relaspe. She got a virus about 2 weeks ago, then she started feeling better then she went down hill again. After going back to the doctors again her blood work was like a rollercoaster. This past Wednesday morning she hit rock bottom and we decided it was time to head out to Iowa City to see what was really going on. She got admitted in the hospital with IV fluids. After 2 days and seeing 4-5 doctors a day we found out that Lauryn had a really bad bug the got very dehydrated which affected her kidneys. (her kidney problem is due to her chemo, we knew she was going to have problems when we decided to give her chemo.) Friday was her regular check up which we kept. Her CT scans look great. We even got to see all the scans!! Her blood work as of Friday was OK. Lauryns blood work can take days to months to be at "her normal" levels.
Could this happen again? Yes.
What is wrong with Lauryn? When we decided to give her chemo, we knew all the risks she could get. We took that chance. In result she has Rickets, kidney problems (phancomi) and being on the smaller side are the top 3 problems. She many never grow out of this, but thats Ok we still have her. We give her 2-4 diffrent types of meds a day 4 times a day. This is helping and protecting her kidneys, thus she needs to drink all the time or her kidneys can crystalize.
Lauryn has to go back to the kidney doctor at the end of April to make sure everything is working like it should.
Today, we decided Lauryn needed to sleep in, we are wanting her to go to school. Emma has a cold and I'm just plum tired!! I forgot how tiring it is to sit and wait in the hospital.
Thank You for all your prayers and support!! Renee, Jason, Emma and Lauryn
