Optic Pathway Glioma (Inoperable Brain Tumor) 30 Treatments of Radiation at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. (Jan. 12, 2003-March 5, 2003) Prior to Emily's radiation, Emily had already been through 3 open heart surgeries. She was 1 month old, 15 months, 21 months when she had the heart surgeries. Then at the age of 5 she had a Grand Mull Seizure and that is when we found the brain tumor. The tumor had sat there 6 1/2 years and didn't grow, than Dec. of 2002 it had doubled size. That is when she went through 30 treatments of radiation. It was a horrable year. Emily had quit eating and didn't eat for 9 months. She had to get the feeding tube, currently still has the tube. I know its been a real long time. Emily is doing great. Had a good checkup last August in Memphis.
Its been a long winter. Jan. 18, 2013 I lost my Dad to a lung disease. Its been really hard loosing him.
We will be going back to Memphis for a final check up with St. Judes. Emily will graduate from St. Judes and we have had to fine all new Doctors. That has been a chore. We have been going to Memphis for 10 years. I will update when we get done with St. Judes. It will be bitter sweet leaving St. Judes. We are really glad that she is doing so good.
