This website has been created
to keep family, friends and visitors
informed and updated on
Zoey's condition and treatments.

Zoey was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma, a rare liver cancer at two weeks of age. She has been through a lot: 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 80% of her liver taken to remove her tumor, 3 infections due to low white cell count, repair surgery of her bile duct and bilary stints. She has also had to endure dressing changes three times a week and countless shots to boost her white count. She's had numerous blood transfusions for low hemoglobin. Zoey has remained a happy baby throughout her life! She has taught us some beautiful lessons in this life. Never give up hope and don't sweat the little things and remember to laugh. Zoey is well on her way to being deemed 100% cancer free! She has one more round of chemo on Sept 6th. Thank you all who have given for our family, time, money, etc. People say we are so strong, but in truth, it's you who has helped make us get through.
Zoey has been the strong one!
We all love you Zoey!

Through it all,
we ultimately believe that God
is going to use Zoey's illness for a short time to make us all stronger, then she will get better and everything and everybody will be better than before.

Since so much has happened with Zoey's illness
we've included some past journal entries as well.

Thank you for all
your support and prayers.
Love,
Zoey's Family

In My Daughter's Eyes
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daugter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

Hi Everyone

I sincerely want to apologize for the lapse in updating Zoey's site. My computer has been in the shop and things have been extremely hectic around our house. I'll try to do better!

Zoey is doing fantastic. She has a routine ct scan today. She hates the contrast so bad it makes her throw up. Rich called to give me an update and said they had to give it to her twice. Even with the NG tube in her nose, she can still feel it going down and it makes her gag. She seems to understand that they need to take pictures of her insides to make sure she is healthy. Rich said she asked the receptionist at the desk for bubbles today. Bubbles have been a routine with Zoey's check ups and she looks forward to them! We aren't expecting anything but a good report from the doctor today. Zoey has had normal check ups the last 3 ct's she has had. She is still on routine visits every three months.
Zoey is very lovable and sweet. Whenever she is offered something, usually her next request is, "Nick would like one too". Zoey and Nick do fight quite often, but nothing more than the typical sibling rivalry. A stranger peaking into our family would never know that Zoey once had cancer. But all who know Zoey know that she has triumphed over a horrendous monster. To celebrate her victory we will be going to the Relay for Life again this year. Nick and Zoey are going to help decorate the luminaria bags.
To those who don't know, Rich changed jobs in Febuary and we moved again. The kids love our new place due to all the neighbor kids who flock in our little area! They've made quite a few friends. I am amazed at how outgoing Zoey and Nick are. Nick will be starting kindergarten in the fall and is looking forward to it. Zoey will grateful when she doesn't have to share her favorite spot in the sandbox!
Thank you to all who check on Zoey and leave messages of encouragement.

God Bless you all and have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Love,
Beth Rich Nick Zoey and Zack
