Hello Everyone!
It was a year ago today that God sent for our precious little girl. As I sit here writing our last journal entry, I have a flood of thoughts and emotions running through my brain. They are ones of great sadness as well as happiness, relief, gratitude, amazement, love and pride.
Sadness because we no longer have Kaitlyn physically here with us. We long to touch her, hug her, hold her and laugh with her.
Happiness for the wonderful memories of our time together.
Relief that we are still standing a year later. 366 days ago, I wasn’t so sure we would be.
Gratitude for our incredible family members and friends and their unending love and support that they have given us.
Amazement for the thousands of prayers, e-mails, cards, kind thoughts and deeds. The numbers of things that people have done for our family to not only help us cope but to keep Kaitlyn’s memory alive and pay tribute to her life are appreciated beyond words!
Hopefulness that some day there will be a cure for cancer so that no one will have to endure the pain that accompanies it. Just a little side note here…Our Relay team, The Smiling Kates, was #1 again!! We raised over $9,300 this year. Thanks to all of our team members and to people who donated to our team. Overall the Relay in Black Hawk County made over $20,000 more than last year!!!! Nick and I, along with Jay and Candy Nardini, will be co-chairs for the 2005 Relay for Life. Thanks for your support!
And lastly the sense of pride we feel when we think back to the enormous impact that our daughter and sister had on the lives of so many. She was an incredible little girl. We are so proud of the person she was. She loved to have fun, loved to make people happy and loved life. Her family and friends were her top priority. We are so very lucky to have been loved by her and to have had her in our lives even if it was for such a short time. Her spirit will live in our hearts forever. We LOVE you beyond words, Kate!!!
This website and your guestbook entries gave us strength when we felt we had no energy left and laughter when we felt there was no reason to smile. A heartfelt thank you for all of your support and dedication to our family.
F.R.O.G.
Love, Nick, Kelly, and Megan
