River Rats! MARY GRACE - 8 YEARS OLD/3rd grade GRANT - 12 YRS/7th grade
He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. 2 Corinthians 1:4 (message)
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 "This is all I know.... The weaker I am, the more I lean on God. The more I lean on God.... the more I realize how big He really is!" - Joni Eareckson.
Mary Grace was diagnosed with Metastatic Germ Cell Cancer on Aug 4th 2004. (Three weeks after her 2nd birthday) They have determined that the main tumor is located in her pelvis attached to the sacrum. (Sacrococcygeal Taratoma Stage IV) She also has a spot on her liver and 8 spots in her lungs. (***Update - Spots are clear after scan on Oct. 26th, 2004!!)
We began our treatment on Monday Aug 9th, 2004. We have completed 6 weeks (30 treatments) of chemo and 23 radiation treatments. Our surgery was Feb 16th 2005 and they removed her 'butt bone' and any tumor material that still remained. The labwork shows NO CANCER! We will continue to monitor, Mary Grace, with bloodwork every 3 months and CT scans every 6 months for the next 4 years. We are so thankful for all of your prayers and support .... but looking back... we know it is the 'Grace of God' that has surrounded us and carried us through this trial. It is very humbling to realize how fragile we really are when tragedy strikes..... thank you for all of your support. We are forever thankful!

Thank you for checking in on us. We are doing great - but this journey still leaves me with a passion for the wonderful people we have met along the way. Please pray that God will continue to use us to minister to other families that are affected by this disease ... This journey is never over.....
A willing and obedient heart - Isaiah 6:8 -"And then I heard the voice of the Master: "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" I spoke up, "I'll go. Send me!"
A 'hopeful' heart - Gen 50:40 - "As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil"
A heart that 'remembers' - Psalm 77:11 - I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
Psalm 143:5 - I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.
