Hey Cousin Pete!
How's heaven? Sounds pretty awesome and well deserved. I actually wrote a speech about you the other day in school. I had to write a live lesson speech and my first thought was LIVESTRONG. :) Livestrong may be one word but it means a lot of different things I think, but mainly "Live life to the fullest". Working on the speech I learned a lot more about you! For instance, how many people you truly inspired, like 107 pages on this website! I looked though most of them actually and read one to the class that I thought was really touching. I also read out loud "The Real Hero" out of the 24 book; everybody thought that was so cool. I talked about how brave, patient, and selfless you were. I also cracked a couple of jokes to the class. One was how you always requested the young good looking nurses. Another example of your humor was, where you pretended that you didn’t recognize your mom (My Auntie Jenny). And said "Who are you lady?" Those are just a couple that I thought were funny. You were/are always known for your sense of humor, now I every once and a while find a dime that I KNOW WAS NOT THERE BEFORE, just laughing waiting for us to find them. :D I also talked about your trip to Notre Dame, more about 24, and how you got accepted to Gustavas College. Pretty cool! Anyway Peter even though I may not be the best public speaker, it was by far my best speech, and my friends got a little emotional too. I got an 85 percent with a ten percent deduction because it had to be in the time frame, 8-10 minutes. All of my speeches went under, except this one. 11:52. Thanks for teaching me what it means to LIVESTRONG!

As I face treatment for Breast Cancer I have been upbeat and positive. Finding humor in the small things. Some days it is harder than others. The Crap Sandwich my family has isn't as big as it could be. I try to remember "It could always be worse". Keeping positive helps. I hope that you all continue to be as positive as possible.

I love Christmas music. One of my favorite carols
is Silent Night, and especially the verse that
invites us to sing with the angels!

"Silent night, holy night,
wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing
Alleluia to our King.
Christ the Savior is born,

I too read your other blog but can't figure out how to add a comment there. Your shopping trip sounds all too familiar to me too. That phase when they are too big for kids clothes and shoes but too small for the smallest size in juniors is such a hard time. Brayden is such a beauty though and I love to hear about her girly personality since I too am raising a tomboy.

Hey there.
Long time NO see and it's all my fault.

I've been to the South Pole with Sir Ranulph Fiennes. WHOA was a heluva trip. Then I went to magnetic North Pole with Arctic Trucks and Top Gear. A polar bear attacked me and I had to choke him to death with my own hands. And the trecherous beast had a gun!!! Then apparently I had to spend a lot of time in therapy. And in court for murdering a Red Book specie. And then I decided it was time to go sailing around the world. Alone. I set both men's and women's world record for sole round the world sail.

I can go on inventing excuses forever. Just one word - sorryyyyyy! AND I hope you have a vague memory of who the heck I am. Your guestbook does - I didn't even have to type in my name and address!!!

Maaan... when girls talk, do they say Oh womaaan just like we guys say Oh maaan! So anyway, oh... persooon, I haven't laughed that much for a very long time. And where do I find my laugh? ON A CB PAGE!!! But I don't feel guilty - it's all your fault Kristie, you keep writing funny post about even saddest things. And we all love you for it. A talent of entertaining yourself when you're a bit sad is a rare thing!

I've read NINE PAGES of previous journal entries dating back to November but... for Christ sake woman, you just keep talking and talking and talking!!! I've been called a chatterbox all my life but I've NEVER been so unable to shut up!!! I still haven't reached the point where you explain WHY Blaine had to go to the hospital AGAIN! I'll keep reading OR you can send me a five-lines (LINES not PAGES) note telling me what happened. Like

"Hi Leo, I don't remember who the heck you are but you're so sexy and I wanna drop my husband and marry you and here's what happened to Blaine... while I'm still married to him".

Something alone that line.

Since I missed ALL important milestones for Kendrie - congrats on the end of the nightmare, and congrats on the one year off treatment. AND waiting for the second year milestone.

Stay cool

Since I am no good at the blog comments, I must tell you Kristie, you don't have to apologize for wanting a healthy, perfect baby, no matter what color you chose. That is what every parent wishes for. Don't apologize to anyone. Secondly, I loved the way you stated that you didn't get pregnant because you had to wait for this baby. Isn't it amazing how very plain that is now. How God has a plan, and no matter how hard you tried to alter that plan, you just plan had to wait for this little girl. I love stories like that. I love all your stories. In fact, I get rather pissed when you stop right at the good parts. I always do that to my third graders, and now I am getting a dose of my own medicine.
Thanks for the entertainment, and again, Don't apologize. You are human. And whether those people want to admit it or not, so are they.

Hey family How are you all doing? I recently took a trip from a blizzard to Key West for a little R&R and traveled through the great state of Georgia. We made a pit stop to gas the car and wash the winter off of it and spotted a Sonic. Well, we had to stop for a Diet Dr. Pepper with special ice as that's what I have read is the drink of choice. I am a convert and now must move south just for that. Ha ha!! Hope all is well and I continue to check the blog for updates. Praying for all good news for hubby.

PLUS, I don't sleep well at all (to put it mildly), so prayers will continue for Blaine throughout the night and into the wee hours of the morning. And....He knows before we even ask.

When Wesley was first diagnosed with ALL we had SO much to read and look at. The Dr sat us down and explained the course of the next 3 1/2 years and we just nodded, stunned and numb. We were worrying about the next 24 hours, not 3 1/2 years! You learn to take a day at a time and sometimes a test result or blood culture at a time but you take it. The initial weight is SO heavy but you realize you don't have to carry the whole burden, the whole time. You get let up for air once in a while. :-) But I digress...When it came time to sign the final papers to agree to the whole course of treatment the Dr asked us if we had any additional questions. My husband bluntly asked him,"Yea are you the best man for the job?" We believe to this day that the whole team at AI DuPont IS the best for the job. My advice to parents of pediactric cancer patients is that you have faith in your doctors and care teams. YOU have to have the confidence that your child is at the best possible place and fit and as your child's fiercest advocate you are allowed to seek out information and question choices. Thanks Kristie for maintaining Kendries site.

WOW - I just stumbled upon your site tonite. How I wish I had your information last year when my 26-year old "baby" was diagnosed. I thank you, along with many other mothers with children fighting this monster, for your obvious care and concern for parents dealing with this nightmare. And even though we are coming on the 2-year anniversary of diagnosis, it is still wonderful to read how your thoughts echo our thoughts for that first month's induction phase. Again, thank you for taking the time to do what you are doing.

Secondly, what a super idea for you and Terry to gather up your writing talents and help other leukemia families in their fight. You both have a wealth of practical knowledge and a way of putting a comical twist on everything. Not to mention what you are doing for cross border relations!?!? I will TRY to make an effort to contribute when I can. Thanks to you and Terry for going that extra mile and raising awareness of childhood cancer. MERCI.

I left this message on your blogsite as well, but for those who did not follow you over there (shame on them!) I wanted to post it here also.

There is a child just entering the cancer world. Unfortunatly, it is not the first journey this family has made. Matthew little cousin passed away from cancer a few years ago, and now Matthew has been diagnosed with (a different form of) cancer. If any of you could drop them some words of encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated. Their site is: http://tonyc.com/blogs/matthew/

Thanks

I am going to send them to Kendrie's site - your project could not have come at a better time for this family.

Kristie,
Let me begin by saying a huge thanks for your sweet words to me in Chandler's guestbook. Believe me, your name came up more than once in that waiting room from the "cancer mommies"(I'm not saying that to make you feel guilty at all....just so you know that *we* missed you. It was pure divine intervention that I was actually in Atlanta....as I too thought she would pull through.

The tribute is beautiful...beautiful just doesn't fully "cut it" as it is really so much more. You never cease to amaze me with your ability to write just the "right" words. I know Jenny, Tre' and the rest of her family will treasure it.

Grieving tonight,
Kim

Kristie you are SUCH a good writer, I come back to this site regularly just to be entertained by you!! You are SO funny and have me laughing all the time. It's amazing how you can make such a serious subject so funny while still emphasizing the horror of cancer and not making light of it. I hope you get published one day, you are so talented! So glad to see that Kendrie was one of the success stories and is doing well today.

Once again, I just want to let you know that I think this project you and Terry are working on is a wonderful idea. Your insight and your experiences are going to help lots of families. I have to say that I think it would also be helpful to include something for extended family members. I remember when my brother-in-law was diagnosed with lymphoma, I didn't know really how to act or what to do. I'll have to put some thoughts down and send them to you.

Wow, Kristie, I feel like it was yesterday (truly that feeling never, ever goes away ... maybe it hides, 'cuz we all know how great we are in the *acting* department) and it's been almost 3 years (just one week shy of 3 years ... agh!)
You have described our life as we experienced it. Every last word is true, true, true. Thank you for giving me a voice when I thought I didn't have one.
I always read (both here and the blog) and continue to admire you from afar. I'll go back to lurking now ...
I'll get you Lucas' diagnosis story soon ... I just can't relive it right now.

Just want you to know that I'm praying for Blaine way up here in a little town close to the Great Smoky Mts......you all need a break. Hopefully, this is just something related to the surgery....as I said, you all need a break. And I'm so sorry for the dr's comments...totally uncalled for. Hope the insurance company will come through quicker-than-quick for the new cat scan. God's peace to this family, one and all.

Hi Kendrie and family,
I love reading your moms updates and blogs, I just don't always comment. They do put me in a good mood before I go to work and always help keep me grounded as far as "not sweating the small stuff" when there are just way too many kids really sick out there. I want your family to know I always have you in my nightly prayers....that you kicked cancers butt forever!!!! 2007 will be fabulous!!! Hope Blaine is doing well also.
hugs and thoughts to all,
colleen

Hi Kristie, i came across your site via the Banana's and I already love reading it,(I also checked out your blog.) I was reading what the last person in the guestbook said about tigger hitting a child. About 37yrs ago one of the three pigs slapped me and ofcourse i was doing nothing to him except trying to prove to my stinky brother that there was a human inside.
if i could only get the glove off, I'm sure i wasn't being very nice. lol

Kristie, I would like you to blog about your take on the Tigger that hit the kid in Florida. I have watched the news clip several times and watched as the father and son told about how tramatizing it was. And how "I in no way did anything to Tigger first...." Now if that isn't the biggest chunk of bullshit I have heard in a long time. I think we need to get ahold of Disney and if they do anything to Tigger, I say boycout the place. I want you to comment on the whole situation....because I know you will have a wonderful spin on the situation.

As another person said, IE crashes on my computer usually when I open Kendrie's page, too.

Congratulations your one year anniversary, Kendrie! That's a huge one!

Kristie, I'll send you an email with Jordan's diagnosis story, I think this is a great idea and I know it would've helped me tremendously when he was diagnosed.

Hey Kristie - Love your first entry, brought tears to my eyes. And I went back and I don't think I signed a congratulatory, "ONE YEAR OFF TREATMENT" to Kendrie so please pardon my lateness, but I am so happy for her, for all of you. What a blessing!

I do want to also keep up on your "rantings" of daily life, but everytime I click your link, IE crashes. Is anyone else having that problem or is it just ME! Kinda like the fact that I am still apparently the only one who can't figure out how to get music on our website either?! I swear I am not that computer-ignorant. Or I didn't THINK I was!!! :)

Anyway, if you get a chance, can you post the actual website or email it to me....always a loyal reader, you know!!!!

Wishing you all a HEALTHY 2007! All My Love -

Amy
