Jonathan's Page

9/27/98 - 6/08/09.
Welcome to Jonathan's Page. After six long years of struggle, Jonathan has gone home. He's got his wings.

Journal

Wednesday, April 13, 2011 1:17 PM CDT

I have been wanting to update for a long time and I just decided to do it today. Benjamin is up taking a nap,(actually he's babbling in his crib and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"). At least he's happy and it gives me a little break. It's so hard to believe he is two already. In case you didn't know, Ben turned two on March 20th. He is really fun right now and loves people, especially girls, (just like Jonathan did). He is talking much more and his first compound sentence is "DaDa car." There is a funny story about that that I'll get to later.

Alyssa is doing very well right now. She is busy with Girl Scouts, violin, chorus, the school newspaper, and an all school play she is in at the end of the month. Pete has her interested in bike riding so we hope to do more of that this spring. She is happy and well-adjusted most of the time. She helps out so much with Ben, that I don't know what I'd do without her. She has so much patience and loves helping me give him a bath. She truly is our joy.

Pete is very busy right now. He's teaching two classes at URI this spring, plus going up to Boston occasionally to teach a CFA program. He is also working very hard on research and some teaching videos. Plus he helps out a great deal with Ben when he comes home from work.

I'm doing OK. I had a car accident on March 11th and was rear-ended pretty bad. Thankfully, the kids weren't in the car. I had some whiplash and Pete's car was totaled. We now are the owners of a 2001 Toyota Camrey. The accident
caused me to have some medical issues and anxiety along with that. After a few visits to my orthopedic specialist, physical therapy, and my psychiatrist, I think I'm on the road to recovery. So, I think I know the reason why Ben says DaDa's car so much!

Life is strange. I miss Jonathan every day and find myself talking to him. He does send me bird messages and this year it's two purple finches. They built a nest right outside on our front porch on the top of one of our columns. We can see them really close, and it would be so cool when they have babies. What a blessing! We still talk about Jonathan every day. I know Mother's Day will be difficult this year again. Holidays always make me a little sad. He was a special little boy that will always be remembered.
