Jacob's Wonderful Life -- Eight Years Off Therapy and Counting

Welcome to our child's web page. It has been provided to keep our friends and family updated about Jacob Thomas Braden. Jacob was born on 15 May 2002. Immediately after birth a lump on his back was found and within two weeks he was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and dangerous form of soft tissue cancer.
After enduring a total of five surgeries, a year of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation he has been "off therapy" since September 2003. We pray everyday he stays in remission.
Jacob is very special. He has a profound and touching impact on all he meets.
This web page is dedicated to our family, his caregivers and our friends who have helped him and us during our battle with this disease.
In March 2010 Jacob underwent spinal fusion surgery to correct a severe scoliosis resulting from his treatments.

Team Jacob had a great time at the Curesearch Walk for the Cure at University of Alabama at Birmingham on 22 October. The event raised $12,000 and Team Jacob raised almost $1,200! The whole family walked, including JT and and Annita.

Thanks to everyone who donated. A special thanks to Vincent Mayfield and everyone at BIT WIZARDS for their generous donation. We could not have done it without you.
