Journal
Thursday, July 2, 2009 Things continue to go well for Tyson.
He did give us a scare in May. In my last update, I had mentioned that Tyson had been having headaches. Well, we figured with a sinus infection and ear infection, those could be the cause for headaches. Tyson started antibiotics, but after 5 days was not feeling better. Actually, he was feeling worse. On Monday, May 18, Tyson ran a fever and off to the ER we went. His counts were: WBC: .78 HGB: 6.7 PLT: 87 ANC: 335 Since his ANC was below 500, we were admitted to the hospital. Tyson was given 2 units of blood on Tuesday and the doctors made the decision to do a bone marrow aspiration and spinal tap on Wednesday. After a long day of waiting on Wed, I finally got word that the bone marrow and spinal fluid were clear. They also tested Tyson for parvo, which came back negative. We were discharged and Tyson has been fine. On Friday, May 22, the doctors restarted Tyson’s chemo at 50
June 9, Tyson had a checkup and labs; his counts were: HGB: 12.9 PLT: 197 ANC: 3,542 So the doctors increased his chemo to 75 One last push before we finish.
Tyson went to Camp Boggy Creek again this summer. He had a great time as always.
Tyson has a Dr Appt next week and an echo. Then, he will take his last chemo pill the following week (while away at church camp).
Thanks for checking on Tyson.
