My story:
My name is Casie Snow and I'm 18. On April 20th, 2003 Easter Sunday I was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. I was diagnosed in All Children's Hospitals Emergency room just 21 days before my 18th birthday. I only ended up going there because I had Bronchitis and my medicine wasn't working,so I went to get a chest x-ray and at the most I was thinking I had pheomonia. When the doctor came back to tell me my chest x-rays were clear but he was still making me stay and run more blood tests, is when I started to think that there was something wrong but never did I think it was Leukemia. Maybe 45 minutes after the nurse took my blood the doctor came back and said that I had Cancer. I just couldn't believe this, I don't think my Mom could either. We were told that we would be sent to 2 South West as soon as a room came available and that we would meet the Oncologist on Monday. To my mothers and my surprise we meet my younger brother Nicks Doctors the next day. My brother was diagnosed with ITP ( a blood disorder) in May of 2000. On April 22, 2003, I had surgery to get my port put in so that my fight could begin. I was only in the hospital for 10 day when I got released but was back just 2 days later with a 103 fever. I was back in just in time to spend my 18th birthday there and miss my High school Graduation. There was many ups and downs and I must of had almost every side effect in the book. Since I've been diagnosed I've had 3 ports and now none! Cancer is something that I would never wish upon anyone but also its something that has tought me alot, and has introduced me to many new friends.I've have also lost a few but they're not forgoten or hurting anymore which is good.Being diagnosed also has made me sure of what I want to do in life.I want to be a Oncology nurse but also someone there to talk and listen to the kids going threw this horable thing called Cancer. It has been almost nine months now and I'm done. I still have doctors apointments all the time but now chemo is over and I'm getting my hair back! :) Most kids don't like going back to the hospital to visit but I love too! I've made many good friends and like for people to know that there is HOPE! I was put into remission in November 2003 thinking I was done, but was also told that I had a 60% chance of relapsing.I never thought I would because I was back to my normal happenings(if you can call it that).I felt great,I looked healthy but on Jan. 14. 2004 I was told I relapsed and a transplant is my olny hope.So now I'm waiting to find a match so I can be done with is and get to college to become a nurse!

Did you know... that about 4,000 children die from cancer each year? That's 11 children every single day, every single year.So know the signs.

HELLO EVERYONE,
Sorry I haven't updated in so long but much has gone on.Hope evryone had a great Easter, because mine was great.Even though it was spent in the hospital both my brother came and of course my mom and dad was there. My parents tried to make it like at home as much as possible.WE ate a honey ham, with veggies and potatoes out on the rooftop. Then my dad hid egg out there and we had are own little egg hunt which was GREAT!!Monday was surgery day and I wasn't looking forward to it at all.The surgery was a lung biopsy and a new broviac. The surgery went well with some pain but that was to be exspected. Then on wednesday I ended up with a really bad cold, sore throat, and really hard to breathe. The next couple of days I was sick throwing up not being able to breathe still in pain from the surgery.Saturday was when I started to feel better and we started to talk about me going home because I was feeling better, eating and really ready to go home. The date was set that I was going home on Tuesday the 20th which was real good because april 20th is a very hard day for me considering thats the day I was diagnosed and I was hopping not to be in the hospital.BUT as I'm ready to sign the discharge papers my doctor tells me I cant go home I have to stay for breathing treatments for my LITTLE cold.So I'm still here and don't know when I'll be going home.So my time at home before transplant is just getting shorter and shoter.

Hello Everyone,
Once again I had a severe headache which are thought to be cause by my low platlets again. They were 9 thousand today and I got two small bags of platlets.Leg pains are still real bad but the doctor increased my pain meds so the legs are feeling a bit better.Had a real bad chest pain yesterday so I had an echo, and a EKG today but everything seems to be fine so whats causeing this who knows? But other then those small pains I'm feeling better. Also today the surgen came in and said surgery most likely in the middle of next week, that all depends on my count though.Well talk to you all later!

Hello Everyone,
Whats been going on? Well just wondering when my platlets are going to start coming up and stay up.2 days ago my platlets were only 3 thousand which caused my to have a really bad headache and with such a bad headache I keep getting sick so I slept all day because it hurt to have my eyes open.Yesterday my stomach was a problem just like today. My platlets were only 7 today so I got an infusion so hopfully my platlets will start coming up on there own.Well I'm going go now because I'm getting my pre-meds for my anfotearason(sorry can't really spell that).
Love,
