Samuels Journey , Savannah 's Visit & now Micah a Gift from Heaven
Welcome to Samuels & Savannahs Story. He was born on the 25th September 1998, 9lbs 11oz. Everything seemed fine until he started to vomit continiously he was placed in the special baby unit and we new something was wrong and then they transferred him to Yorkhill, Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow. After several surgeries at 2 days old we were told that Samuel had a very rare type of Hirschsprungs disease call Total Intestinal. his means that he has no nerves in his whole bowel, so he cannot eat normally, absorb or go to the toilet. He survives on intravenous feeding 18 hours a day, called Total Parenteral Nutrition(TPN), Samuel aslo has a gastostomy/jejostomy tube to drain his stomach and an ilieostomy so that he can go to the toilet. Everyday with Samuel is a struggle, but he is a blessing to us, and we take it one day at a time with him. He was given 3 months to live when he was born and he is now 10 years old, even his doctors are amazed at him. Samuel and his brother Martin are the best of friends. Please pray for Samuel, he is a true gift from Heaven and he needs a miracle in his life.
Our wee precious Savannah Rose Margaret Bell was born on the 31st January 2007, she weighed 8lbs exactly, she was a very precious wee gift to us she was born and had Downs Syndrome and also Long Segment Hirschsprungs Disease like her big brother, but thankfully she had 110cms of bowel that worked, and after 6 weeks in hospital she came home with just naso-gastric feeding, she also had a iliostomy but we now knew she would survive without TPN. She was in so much better shape than Samuel her big brother. Unfortunatly Savannah passed away on the 9th April 2007 in her sleep, what a loss our wee LOVEY.
